peace to you!
i wanted to get some thoughts out there on this subject, because there are so many people who look to the bible as the image of god.
to the point that they do not look to christ at all, but rather they look to the law or to moses or to the ot as the image of god... over... christ.

dear Tammy...
you said: "But He doesn't change. So is it that he changed, or is it that the people had not understood Him?"...
we are made in God's image...we have all the attitudes of God...we can be angry and loving, we can desire justice and righteousness etc....just like God. Jesus displayed all the attitudes of God, you choose to only see half of the attitudes of God.
That is why your lord has no message except the one you choose...where is God's justice? Where is the anger at those who reject His Son, the greatest gift He could give? Where is the, "vengence is Mine", saith the LORD?
if you were to read ALL of what the bible says about Jesus and His message and mission, you would see that God hasn't changed...except in your "understanding".

just wondering what exactly the gospel is, and how i should understand it to be.
if someone were to come up to me and ask "what is the gospel?
thanks so much, this means a lot.
dear trebor...
this: "that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures" can truly be appreciated when you understand the magnitude of the gift that Jesus gave of Himself.
the scripture that comes to my mind is: isaiah 53:10-11
...God the Father poured out His wrath against the sins of ALL mankind on the Son...not a one of us could bear the wrath of God for just our own sin so Jesus took the punishment for each individual who will apprehend God's gift. He was bruised for our iniquities.

the witchtower is being more careful now about putting a date.
out there for the beginning of the great tribulation.
they have learned their lesson from 1975. however they sure.
dear Sour Grapes...
God resides in eternity. we reside in a place where times slip by in months days years etc.
Jesus Christ opened the way for His followers to enter into God's eternity and though people have been born and died throughout these years, on God's side all those who have died in Christ enter at the exact same time...a split second in eternity.(I think that is the better resurrection that paul hoped to attain to...Christ's resurrection)
But not all people after Jesus Christ and certainly not those before He made the way...enter into eternity (because they are not in Christ) these are those who partake in the resurrection of the just and the unjust [daniel 12:2, rev 20:12-13*]who will be given, during their lifetime, the opportunity to turn to Jesus Christ and enter into everlasting life in eternity as partakers of Christ's resurrection OR be rejected/cast off into everlasting shame and contempt.(the second death)...God's "soon" takes into account all this takes "time" it can't happen in a split second of His eternity. 2 peter 3:8-10
So...I think when the return is said to be "soon" or "quickly" Jesus wasn't so much speaking about a measurable time frame but an assurance of His return.
*please note that revelation 20:12 says clearly that people will be judged on their works not their faith this ties into the warning that Jesus gave in matthew 25:31-46 about when He returns as a thief in the night...these verses imply that when He returns, both the sheep and the goats are judged on prior "commitments"...His return signals finality..fini...you aren't given the opportunity to change your mind and believe in or have faith in Him for your salvation once He has returned.

you said: "If he didn't look any different, then why did people not recognize him?...
I don't know but my point is that He looks human with human flesh, and we will look human with human flesh.
you said:"No, I'm afraid you do not see. Because my understanding in this has absolutely nothing to do with Aguest, or any physical description she has given."...
Though you say your understanding has nothing to do with what AGuest says...you lords appearance isn't even about your "understanding" it is about what she shared as a fact regardless of your understanding. interesting that you wont enter into agreement with her about your lord but choose to isolate yourself given that you're of the same "body".

you said: "When Christ returnes we (our flesh) will be changed. The corruptable puts on the incorruptable. I don't think the verse states incorruptable 'flesh'. In any case, this flesh that we have right now, counts for nothing. Everything Christ taught, and Paul, points to that. You might need to point out what makes you think otherwise for me."...
after His resurrection Jesus showed Thomas that He had flesh (Jesus didn't look any different than He did before His death)and Paul says that we will be changed like unto Him.
I can see where confusion comes from though, as your lord has been described quite differently by AGuest:
"They are "serpents"... which are not snakes, but beings of a reptilian type. Sorry, but that's the best I can explain it - they're not reptiles, though, not at all... so, gargoyle-ish might be a better word. They are "drakos/dracon"... serpents (seraphs) )... that stand upright like men, but have wings... and can see all, except that which is hidden from them (like the seed of the Woman). Hence, they are "dragons", the English rendering of the word.
Christ's appearance is very similar to these, but not exactly. His head (and not just his hair) is white... and his eyes are orange (fire-colored). His "skin" (which is actually scales) is a bronze/copper color. He is probably the MOST unattractive of them (excluding JAH Himself)"...
you completely side-stepped the issue...I was talking specifically about the flesh of Jesus Christ and what He did for man because of his fallen flesh(in the garden) as well as his fallen spirit but, if you want me to point out where I think that the bible states that our flesh does count for something(everything we do we do in the flesh as we are flesh beings)...what we do in the flesh counts for nothing if it isn't done with a corresponding God honoring spirit/attitude...luke 18:11-13...
we are to love God with our WHOLE spirit, mind and body...the body is the temple of God.

you said: "(Much of what i have come to understand about some things in the OT, such as the Adam/Eve account, I have learned in Spirit. Then, when i do receive understanding, i always kick myself, lol, because why did i not see it before? The understanding given is always in unity with the Image of God being loving and merciful, as Christ shows Him to be. I think we become so accustomed to seeing something a certain way, that we are blind to anything else... unless we are shown.)"...
why do you insist that eden was "spiritual" and not physical?...why do you insist that God gave A&E flesh to cover their incorporeal "being"...coverings to "trap" their "sin"?...why do you believe that Jesus Christ was concerned about the "spirit" of a person over the flesh of the person?...is it because our spiritual sin needs to be covered?
Why did Jesus Christ on the night He was betrayed break the bread too?
According to the bible Jesus came in the flesh to heal the flesh because it was fallen just as much as the spirit of man...which would make sense if the flesh of man was that which would die by not eating from the tree of life. The spirit of man continues on after the death of the flesh and Jesus, in His resurrection, made it possible to put on incorruptable flesh...that wouldn't die like that flesh that was given in the garden. His "wine" covers our sins...His "bread" redeems our flesh.

we all have somebody we are crazy about that almost everybody can't stand.. if you mention their name your companions give you that "look" (ya know the one, like you just got caught picking your nose!).
i was thinking about this the other day.
i was truly curious if i'm mental or if everybody has a guilty pleasure list like i do.. i'm just going to assume we all do until you set me straight.. if you attach a photo and short explanation about why you like these pariahs it will be more meaningful.. .
I was just informed that the beautiful Judith Muller has just passed away. Judith created vintage perfumes that were reminiscent of scents named in the bible. Her most famous perfume was called Bat Sheba; there were two distinct scents so named. One perfume was an exotic oriental and one was a woody modern (which was my favorite) In this same vein she created perfumes named Sharon, Judith and Shalom. Judith lived in Haifa Israel and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
