the bible is silent on people that don't believe in God. If you wish to see something that isn't there based on peoples opinions, that is your prerogative, isn't it?

that you don't see Jesus as someone who desires to cleanse the earth of negative forces in opposition to the well-being of mankind in general is your prerogative as well...but, that is what the bible portrays Jesus Christ as doing. His agenda isn't as "petty" as you seem to believe...His mission is a worldwide freedom from oppression. I can confidently assume He's actually thinking about the "poor" men, women and children whereas you're not. (Romans 8:20-22)

I don't recall the NT saying anything about punishment for people who believe in no God and as far as punishment for people who believe in the wrong God...the bible says that at the return of Jesus Christ those who are punished willfully deny Him and do not repent. Instead of admitting they were wrong as an act of repentance, they wish that the rocks would fall on them and they seek death. In revelation nothing is said about punishment for casual bystanders either but for those who come up against or oppose Christ and those who have found shelter with Him.

you think I speak gibberish but my comments were not directed to you but to JD. (ie: a firefighter will tell you that to suppress an out of control wildfire, digging a trench and starting a fire is prescribed...it's called fighting fire with fire)

Jesus is clear in His commission. in His name and for His sake the christian was sent out to do battle and take captives...NOT negotiate a settlement. (matthew 10:34)

I don't fear being judged by the same measure and in like manner. I fully expect to be judged and that's why I practice discernment. Honestly I don't think that you have been slain by the sword of the Spirit and that's why you aren't captive to it. (Rev. 13:9-10)

Jesus was involved in a spiritual battle, He called us to spiritual battle. mohammad was not involved in a spiritual battle when he received the koran. His battles were entirely physical. You proposing that "perhaps" the koran is misunderstood NOW is a moot point, really. It presupposes that Jesus shares space in the market place of ideas when He said Himself..."My kingdom is not of this world." (john 18:36) the fact that people are making a move to "spiritualize" the koran now only makes the "spiritual enemy" that Jesus spoke of more clear.

I was under the impression that being a christian obligated a person to accept that Christ was right...and that what He taught about forgiveness, salvation, the uncompromising righteousness of God...the gospel...was His final say on the matter.

If you believe that at His return He'll have a different final say that leaves room for other anti-Christ belief (not merely ingnorance) then I don't think you've grasped the seriousness of sin or repentence or the absolute love of the Father for mankind in subjecting His beloved Son TO our sin.

WHERE is the mind of Christ in anything you've put forth in this thread?

the way I see it is that YOU can take a comfy rest from this thread. Jesus and the apostles couldn't. In the face of opposition they laboured. If you so blithly dismiss the final revelation of the gospel in your acceptence of the anti-christ koran too then you'd better be prepared to defend your position...to the shedding of blood...if it is required.(hebrews 12:1-4)

[One of Allah’s 99 Names is al-Waddud, “the Loving.” Allah is called al-Waddud twice in the Qur’an. In 11:90, the prophet Shu’aib tells the people of Midian, “Ask pardon, then, from your Lord, then turn to Him; verily, my Lord is merciful, loving!” Likewise, in 85:12-16 we read:

Lo! the punishment of thy Lord is stern. Lo! He it is Who produceth, then reproduceth, and He is the Forgiving, the Loving, Lord of the Throne of Glory, Doer of what He will.

Nevertheless, other passages in the Qur’an qualify Allah’s love significantly. While Allah is said to love those who do good deeds (2:195), those who are pure (2:222), those who are righteous (9:7), and those who fight in his cause (61:4), the Qur’an is equally clear that Allah has no love for transgressors (2:190), ungrateful sinners (2:276), the unjust (3:57), or the proud (4:36). Even more significantly, the Qur’an states that Allah does not love non-Muslims:

Qur’an 3:31-32—Say [O Muhammad]: If you love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive you your faults, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. Say: Obey Allah and the Apostle; but if they turn back, then surely Allah does not love the unbelievers.

Qur’an 30:43-45—Then turn thy face straight to the right religion before there come from Allah the day which cannot be averted; on that day they shall become separated. Whoever disbelieves, he shall be responsible for his disbelief, and whoever does good, they prepare (good) for their own souls, that He may reward those who believe and do good out of His grace; surely He does not love the unbelievers.

Notice that 3:31-32 makes Allah’s love contingent on whether a person believes in Muhammad. This is similar to what we find in 19:46, which declares: “Lo! those who believe and do good works, the Beneficent will appoint for them love.”

Hence, although Allah is called “the Loving,” the Qur’an only means by this that Allah will love people once they believe in him and obey his prophet. The god of Islam has no love for sinners and unbelievers.

Interestingly, the “Love me first and I’ll love you back” kind of love exhibited by Allah in the Qur’an is condemned by Jesus in Matthew 5:43-48]

Wasn't the professor trying to make the point that no translations should say "and the Word was God"...a literal translation is "and God was the Word" and that is what both the W&H and the KJ should say?

I prefer to take his word for how it came about and he said an angel told him to recite. Eventually he said he stopped meeting the angel in the cave and he said that the words of koran just came to him.

The reason I asked if JD thought that mohammad was capable of interpretation of the words of the koran is because that is a component of the hadiths. The context of the verse being "recited" includes Mohammad's interpretation.

Quran (4:95) - "Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward,-" This passage criticizes "peaceful" Muslims who do not join in the violence, letting them know that they are less worthy in Allah's eyes. It also demolishes the modern myth that "Jihad" doesn't mean holy war in the Quran, but rather a spiritual struggle. Not only is the Arabic word used in this passage, but it is clearly not referring to anything spiritual, since the physically disabled are given exemption. (The Hadith reveals the context of the passage to be in response to a blind man's protest that he is unable to engage in Jihad and this is reflected in other translations of the verse).

the bible doesn't say that the angels don't know the gospel. Yes, the gospel of Christ was revealed to men but that doesn't preclude the angels hearing it too, not at all. That's why they rejoice when someone accepts the gospel of salvation...(perhaps you are of the opinion that the angels are a bunch of dumb, dumbs cheering for they know not what?)

First of all I want to be clear that I agree with you that the angels don't know anymore about the gospel than the apostles. That doesn't mean they know less either.

why do WE desire to look into something (the bible) when we already "know"?...because we tend to focus on something we appreciate, love and have a passion for. (like a deer pants after water)To that extent man can covet the word of God too but it doesn't mean at all that we don't know what it says.
