Office Jargon, drives me nuts

'granular' seems to be the latest buzz word going around my office.

previously it was 'appetite'.. abstract words that appear to be designed to make the person saying it appear powerful and part of the 'team'.. as lord sugar has observed before; why not just speak english and say what you mean.. office jargon really annoys me.

i had enough loaded language and jargon in the disgusting jw cult..

The X-Mas thing...

christmas means nothing to me.

i have no abiding, cosy, childhood memories of it.. i don't buy presents or cards....i have to be reminded.. i feel a bit weird.

people are celebrating and saying: 'i'm feeling christmassy.'.

there isn't anything wrong about "Christmas means nothing to me"...that is a place of neutrality. Judging from what you have said though you aren't neutral. You don't like the songs, tv movies where people are (gasp!!) dressed in red. I suspect that you harbour the same feelings about Christmas now that you did as a JW and those feelings come from a place of misery. I think it is important (because you don't WANT to resent other peoples happiness) that you make an effort to get out and have a share of simple, honest, good cheer. Embrace it...and spread it. Ya don't even have to mention Christmas just smile, nod...say "greetings"...for goodness sake...you're NO LONGER a hostage...open the windows wide, beloved.

much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.

however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.

So ... Russia and Nato at war? Should we be worried?

it seems unbelievable but turkey (a nato member state) shooting down a russian jet fighter on their syrian border seems to be "meh" news and no one is too bothered about it too much.. the world seems a bit upside down right now.

i don't think a lot of countries really know who the hell they are fighting and who is and isn't on their side in it all and really what is going on.. smaller incidents than this have led to major conflicts in the past but hopefully calm heads will prevail.

china shot down a us spy plane years ago and the world survived and forgot about it so things will move on i'm sure.. i'm guessing the price turkey pays for their gas supply from russia will be going up soon though.. man, that republican primary is sucking all the news attention from the room.

i was just thinking about how the wts has been spouting off for years that satan and his demons were cast down to the vicinity of the earth in 1914, but really, when you think about it, what was the difference before 1914 or after 1914?.

its not like satan and his demons did not have access to the earth.

I suspect you are missing something. If you had read the comments on your thread you would have noticed that I commented on something someone had said about the war between God and satan and then someone asked me more questions, which I tried to answer.

Sometimes on forums people have comments and questions on the periphery of the OP.

so, what do you intend to do with these points once they're collected? How are you planning to get an audience with the service department?

I consider that according to the bible angels don't look much different than we do and so perhaps saying their own dna isn't quite right. Isn't it true that because of the work of Christ man will himself have a body like unto Jesus...which was able to move between dimensions after His resurrection?

God created the angelic body to inhabit the heavens. Like the resurrected Christ it wasn't a "spirit" body...it was called a spiritual body. Like the resurrected Christ, flesh and bone (but not blood)

remember that God put enmity between satan's SEED and the woman's seed. Interestingly it is satan's angels that reproduced with women. It may be that a woman's "seed" (ovum) doesn't have this "spirit potential" (?) of corruption as male seed does (male angels)...hence the eventual birth of the perfect man through a woman. Which isn't to say women can't be spiritually corrupted but the bible says that the male angels became spiritually corrupted and had children with women and that the seed of these male angels PRODUCED spiritually corrupted offspring...demons.

I had a lengthy discussion with a lady and it boiled down to this: if you are actually casting demons out of your congregants then your church is in big trouble. The only defence is the indwelling Holy Spirit.

(Me)Christians sin. A christian sinning isn't the same thing as having another entity within you. Sin is not one and the same as a demon. I understand that you believe that christians are coming to you and that you are casting out their demons...but...the idea that a demon can dwell in the same body as the Holy Spirit is completely foreign to scripture. A born again believer is a sanctified vessel and is called the temple of the Living God precisely because of the presence of the Holy Spirit.
In other words...God wont share His "space" with a demon regardless of what you sincerely believe.
(Tracy)deliverance is the children's bread! As a matter of fact, the last thing Jesus commanded before he went into heaven was for his ppl to cast out demons in the last chapter of Luke. The Biblical version of blaspheming the Holy Spirit was when they would attribute the works of the Holy Spirit to the work of satan. I would be very careful coming against the Lord's deliverance ministry!
(Me) Tracy, demons are cast out before the Holy Spirit enters. Aside of the fact that you're not understanding the theological implications of what you're saying...you're not understanding what the bible is saying. The signs and wonders were a precursor TO belief.
When you say demons can live in the same body as the Holy Spirit and then say I believe this because this other deliverance ministry says they can...that is circular reasoning.
The BIBLE text does not support the idea that the Holy Spirit can dwell in the same body as a demon. Before He was glorified, Jesus saw satan cast out of heaven. Heaven itself was cleansed before Jesus entered...it typifies the earthly sequence. A person is born again, the Holy Spirit "abodes" in them and demons are already gone.
Allow me to show you ephesians 6:12-17...the whole armour of God is "designed" to be a defence against the demons. If it doesn't provide protection (for the believer) from demon possession then it isn't very useful, is it?

(Me) The bible doesn't say but it is commonly held to be the loss of sight. Honestly if it was a demon in paul, why would Jesus say, "My grace is sufficient for you."...in essence Jesus would be saying there's NO NEED to cast out demons if you have His grace. You'd be out of "business", so to speak.
(Tracy) it was a messenger from satan... IN the flesh.... yes, it was a demon indeed! I dont make any money so I dont have a business....lol....
(Me) Paul's partial blindness was spoken of as a deficiency that he thought hindered his mission (therefore anything that hindered his mission he saw as a messenger of satan) Jesus' response indicates that His grace was sufficient for paul to carry on with his ministry. Otherwise, Jesus was saying...you can continue your ministry with that demon in you. The principle behind "a house divided can not stand" would have no meaning what so ever.
😊 I didn't mean to insinuate that you made any money for what you do. It was simply a phrase like doing the Lord's "work"...there isn't any money in it but we are about the "business" of our Father.
(Me) Tracy, waging war on the host of hell is not casting demons out of born again believers. The scriptures don't agree with you...the Holy Spirit will not dwell in the same body as a demon. That IS one of the first principles of God!!!

the bible OT doesn't say the angels materialized into human bodies. It also says that their offspring were not mere humans. This means that they had their own bodies with angelic dna and that they were capable of reproducing WITH humans. The physical offspring of these unions were destroyed in the flood but the spiritual entity of each was not destroyed they are those call demonic spirits. It is the fallen angels themselves who had the ability to move from the spiritual dimention to the physical dimention (like the resurrected Christ) in an actual body.

These angelic/human offspring have been destroying the earth for a long time and it is they who will inhabit human bodies...that's why it is called demon possession, but demons can be "cast out" and the human "regains" his senses (so to speak). According to the book of enoch these offspring are more or less free to cause destruction to men until sometime before the great judgement when they will be cast into the deepest valleys of the earth to await their fate.

Someone said the war is between God and satan but this isn't the case. The war is between man and satan. Jesus defeated satan on the cross as a means to help man in this struggle. That's why we're in a spiritual war. The only way for a man to ultimately defeat satan (himself) is to accept Jesus as his saviour and gain the help of the Holy Spirit in seeing through the deceptions of satan and his demons when he tries to draw a person from the truth of Jesus Christ. This can be done in many ways...the WTBTS has been very successful in replacing Jesus in the conscience of millions. When Jesus is replaced in the conscience of a person then a person will believe all kinds of things that the "replacement" says. :(

the Holy Spirit will keep a person in the word...that's how He brings to rememberance things Jesus has said. It is the way to descern truth from lies. A replacement will subtley edge a person away from the word and "feed" you from the word. This is subtle because it is the Holy Spirit that leads a person through the bible. There is nothing of a personal nature between a person and God if that one is "fed" the same food as everyone else at the same time. There is no room for the individual just conformity to the replacement. Of course, that "replacement" can also be your own self and not Jesus.

why do YOU think that individual bible study is a threat to an organization that calls itself christian?

given the roll call scene of the gathering of the elect and the time frame of the scene, that the 144,000 are sealed with the implication that they are priests...evangelist even, to people of all nations to bring them into reconciliation with God and out of the GT I believe this is more like a military array. Very structured...reminiscent of numbers 10:1-9...but it certainly does REQUIRE that the 144,000 are obedient to the covenant of exodus 19:5-6.
