you can add a clickable icon to your home screen to save a few keystrokes and the site doesn't have to stay open on your browser. Just type in the site address in your browser and when the page comes up, swipe down until the arrows, bookmark etc shows up at the bottom of the page. Click on the center square with the arrow in it. Choose add to home screen.

Watchtower and The X-Files

i've been watching the show all over again, with my kids.

we are in season 6 and there has been at least 3 mentions of jw in the show.. in one episode, mulder and scully get to a house and when they get there they realize the doorbell button has been ripped off.

they look at each other and mulder says "frustrated jehovah's witness?".

the gc will experience:.

1. the great tribulation - a gruelling/horrifying time which has never occurred before.. 2. armageddon.. 3. a thousand years of “loving” molding and refinement.. 4. a second armageddon at the end of the thousand years.. the 144,000 will experience none of these things.. isn't it strange that the gc has to prove themself so much but the 144,000 don't???!!!

The bible text says that the GC is taken "out of the tribulation" finding themselves before the throne IN HEAVEN and that the 144,000 are sealed ON EARTH just before cataclysmic events.

since the bible refers to people and places as dry and dead if they don't have "living waters" flowing through them. Then it isn't a stretch to see that the valley of dry bones are people who don't have "living waters" flowing through them.

It's possible that the burial in ezekiel is also a metaphor for baptisim as the baptisim is a physical representation of a spiritual reality. Dying to the old man, burial, and being resurrected to new life in Christ.

Why are the atheists on this site so hateful?

all us creationists try to do is offer true evidence that the one and only god is out there watching and looking down on us.

we present that certain scientists know the truth about god and that he is everything that we see from trees, life, weather, the air we breath, and even the most simple molecules.

but of course you atheists reject it because it is your nature to not be humble and see god because you want to rule your own life.

You're not addressing my concerns but advocating for the continued thrashing of all theistic discourse as far as I can tell.

people need time to work through their "trama". Most people benefit from being given that time to go in their own direction. Because we ARE a magnet for exiting JW's I don't think the best course of action is to welcome them and when they do screw up enough courage to talk about what's on their mind, they are met with the demand to justify their belief. These are often naive adults who are programed to think a certain way and it seems to me that it is less than helpful to throw them into the deepend of the pool when they can't even swim.

I believe there ARE people who lurk for a long time and don't post to ask questions and work through their own PERSONAL experience because they see how others are treated.

Maybe it's just a touch of melancholy but I remember when this forum was a welcoming place for everyone and these new ones weren't jumped on. People were able to develop a thick skin through comfortable interaction. Once they were ready, they made the choice to jump into a heated discussion...it wasn't thrust on them. Now, I understand that there are new people who jump in and stir the pot, at this point we should all try be the stronger person and don't let them push those buttons that can ruffle feathers, so to speak, instead of goading them to defend their each and every position.

I guess it's about values. Can you value a person and treat them nicely. even if you don't agree with them AT ALL, is it humane to trample them into the dirt. Now I know that the counter argument is that "we're attacking the idea" but you know what, some people (I wont hesitate to say most people) just exiting the JW's take everything personally...that's where they "are"...

...and it's these little ones that I'm standing up for...please, what reason is there to NOT place great value on these ones who come here lost and vulnerable...here to a place that is to them is an unknown and untrustworthy "world".

Your statement isn't true. There is diversity here but, that diverse range of belief isn't being nurtured much here any more.

Simmer down and use this time to cultivate patience...it's a virtue ;)

dear Simon...

one thing I've noticed is that someone can start a thread about God stuff and then athiests are "compelled" to click on the thread, read it and either ask questions of the theist or taunt. I've heard it said before that no one is forcing anyone to look at a thread. so why, instead of just letting thiests have their discussions amongst themselves as you've suggested, why don't athiest such as yourself let us DO that? Is this forum really what it bills itself as, "a place to discuss anything JW related"?

If you want a forum where any God releted discussion is not allowed then why don't you have the transparency and state that on your home page so that everyone knows upfront? How about. "everyone welcome EXCEPT thiests...you guys just "fuck off.""

this place would become quite the echo chamber, wouldn't it? Diversity be damned!?

It seems to me that the JW "thing" has become a convenient hook to catch the fish (ratings). It's a sad, sad situation for more than a few people looking for shelter in what has become a major storm in thier lives.

I hope this post is taken in the spirit in which it was intended. If this forum exists as a "public service" then transparency or compassion. You can't have it both ways without it being deceptive...and I don't expect you actually want to be deceptive.

JW and the Sabbath

i don't believe in 1914 and i'm tototally against their way of dealing with abuse cases.

observing the sabbah is a time to rest from "labour". In an agricultural community that would have meant don't go and work in the fields which is why the pharisees challenged Jesus. I don't know if pulling a couple of handfulls of weeds in the flower garden is considered labour but I do know that picking peas or what ever is "harvesting" and therefore labour.

We can observe the sabbath by not labouring. Reading and enjoying personal hobbies may not be labour. Taking time to read and reflect on God's word and getting together for fellowship with like minded individuals is also observing the sabbath. The point is, make the day one of rest and thank God for the day.

I find it interesting that even on sunday, the churches day of worship, most of the church people I know will carry on doing labour, shopping and dining out (which means causing others to work for you) when the bible says not to. I did that too not realizing that it is actually called defiling that day. If someone is committed to observing the 7th day sabbath and knows these basics, I think he/she becomes more sensitive to what is "right" or "wrong" on that day...God is working with the conscience and leading. I know that some people in leadership roles go completely overboard with rules too and I think that they are mining the letter of the law for the purpose of holding power of authority over people. Boo.

I do the best I can to not defile the saturday sabbath now, and that's all that God asks...that I worship in spirit and truth. No labour, no shopping, no dining out and keeping my thoughts on God and His word while I go about my day. There is no group like minded where I live to fellowship with on that day but there's online teaching that kind of fits with what I need right now.
