1. the messiah said that three nights would be involved with his time in the "heart of the earth".. 2. there are some who believe that the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week with the resurrection taking place on the 1st day of the week.. 3. of those, there are some who believe that the "heart of the earth" is referring to the tomb.. 4. however, those two beliefs allow for only 2 nights to be involved.. 5. to account for the discrepancy, some of the above say that the messiah was using common figure of speech/colloquial language of the time, i.e., that it is was common to forecast or say that a day or a night would be involved with an event when no part of the day or no part of the night could occur.. 6. in order for someone to legitimately say that it was common, they would have to know of more that 1 example to make that assertion.. 6. for the purpose of this topic, i would like to ask if there are any 6th day of the week crucifixion advocates who think the messiah was employing common figure of speech/colloquial language of the period?.

Why did you use the example you did (3 days & nights in the heart of the earth) if it's not an actual example of the topic you'd like to discuss? Or to put it another way...why have you used a demonstrably incorrect example for the topic you'd like to discuss.

Sister may have had a slight heart attack, do I text her?

so my cousin phoned and told me my jw sister was taken to hospital with chest pains and it may have been a slight heart attack or possibly she's starting with angina.

now as some of you know my sisters and brother have had little to do with me for 29 years.

we've met at funerals, or arranged them, but i just thought today what if she did die?

Babylon The Great and JWs

jws teach babylon the great is the whole empire of false religion.

interestingly, bible’s definition of it would include jws also because it is the entity “that rules over the kings of the earth.” (rev 17:18) since revelation is given in symbols (rev 1:1) “kings” cannot be literal, but can mean minds of people because mind acts like king over everyone’s bodily kingdom.. no one exerts power over the minds of jws like their gb does.

just like members of other religions blindly follow what their leaders teach, jws too do—even when changes that are introduced under the guise of “new light” are virtually numerous.

The torah prescribes a sacrifice for the sin of adultry. (Lev. 19:20-22) if the woman is not freed. (God asked israel, "where is the certificate of your divorce?")
Though the prophets often called israel back to God, the priests didn't make a sacrifice for the sin of israel's adultry. The scriptures declared that God looked around and any one indivdual who practiced the truth became prey to those who practiced unrighteousness.
God asks, "am I not righteous to save?" And "my own right arm will sustain Me" Scripture says that God's Servant is the right arm of God...that the Servant receives His righteousness from God. Scripture goes on to say that this Servant's soul is made an atonement for sin/transgression. This Servant is God's own right arm that sustains His own righteousness to save BECAUSE israel doesn't recognise their sinful state. So, while it is absolutely true that God didn't COMMAND a man to be sacrificed for sin in the torah or anywhere else in scripture, the scriptures themselves declare that it pleased God to see His Servant willingly "see his soul travail on behalf of many" (in order to be delivered up as the sacrifice for the atonement of THEIR (israel's) sin.) The penalty for adultry without delivering the required sacrifice is death.

God saved many from the penalty of death by the sacrifice of His willing Servant whom He calls His own right arm. God is righteous to save even when man is blind to his need for salvation.

Israel didn't recognize Jesus from the OT scriptures for a few reasons. He was hidden from them as an arrow in a quiver, He was under the cover of God's hand and they hid their face from Him (didn't recognize or acknowledge
their own sin)...the NT says though He was sinless [like an arrow hitting the mark perfectly] He became sin.

The mother of all harlots would recognize and acknowledge that sacrifice has been made for sin (Jesus) betroth herself (bride) but she would continue in her sin.

My comment is a reply to clarify to you that the days and nights did occur. The reasoning behind the accepted missing night revolves around the biblical text that says the body could not be removed on the sabbath. (John 19:31) If you incorrectly assume that the sabbath being spoken of is the weekly sabbath (friday evening to saturday evening) then friday night + saturday night is only 2 nights.

If the sabbath that begins the evening after passover is used for counting there is no missing night. It's as simple as counting back 3 nights from sunday morning and arriving at a sabbath. The first day (evening to evening) of the feast of unleavened bread is a sabbath.

My point is, contrary to your statement to David Jay, the saying doesn't HAVE to be a colloquialism/common expression...without basis in reality. 3 nights in the heart of the earth can be understood as 3 nights in the tomb based on reckoning the jewish calendar of events preceding the resurrection. By doing this the 3 nights "fit" between a sabbath and sunday morning.

Note: the day of preparation spoken of in john 19:31 would be the day that all traces of leaven are removed from the home in preparation for the 7 day feast of unleavened bread. The evening of that day starts the sabbath.

Passover begins on the 14th at sundown and the feast of unleavened bread starts at sundown on the 15th. The feast of unleavened bread lasts 7 days and the first and last days are called sabbaths. They can fall on any day of the week. If passover started on wednesday evening, the next evening (thursday) would be the beginning of the feast of unleavened bread & a sabbath. Friday evening would start the regular weekly sabbath (2nd night) saturday evening: weekly sabbath ends (3rd night) saturday evening until sunday evening is the 1st day of the week according to the jewish calendar (resurrection "day").

Jesus would have had to be tried and crucified between the passover meal on wednesday evening and removed to the tomb before the evening of the 15th.(1st night)

I agree with dubstepped, $6.99 isn't that much to pay for a documentary like this. Gregorio has spent countless hours working on it and finding translators so it can be released in many different languages. I was happy to help fund it's production and because of that I think it would be mighty nice if you would pay to download it at that low cost to you as a show of appreciation to Georgio, his crew and xjw's for their efforts to expose the WT org for their "religious" practices.

Jesus fulfilling old testament prophecies like his legs not being broken

what are everyone's thoughts on this, how his legs weren't broken, he was pierced with a spear and he wore a thorny crown?.

i'm pimo and very much not wanting to believe, but like the daniel statue prophecies, these ones about jesus stick in my mind and give me "hmmm, maybe" moments..

There are prophecies that you can read that have the needed "element" of measureability. Some prophecies have to be taken on faith as being fulfilled. The no bones broken as representitive of a perfect sacrificial lamb is not measurable. That and other prophecies would have been a great witnessing tool for people who were there and saw how the ministry and crucifixion of Jesus unfolded. I believe that is precisely why so many did accept Jesus as the expected Messiah, jews especially.

Please keep in mind that intellectual acceptance isn't the same as emotional acceptance. The latter being the type of acceptance that involves a level of commitment that you may not be inclined to pursue. You would be the best judge of that :)
