What is the blindness Jesus referred to in Mathew 15:14?
by Ireneus inin the context of speaking about human teaching and its teachers (mathew 15:8, 9) jesus said: “they are blind guides.
if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” (mathew 15:14).
its application need not be too limited because what is being subjected to our senses is very limited.

Jesus had just finished rebuking the Pharisees for making God's torah void by their traditions. King David said that the torah was a lamp unto his feet, a light to his path. The Pharisees had made all kinds of extra-biblical laws that superceded and obscured the teaching of the torah. For people who relied on these teachers and their "laws" for direction (instead of the torah) the Pharisees were the blind leading the blind.

Welcome to all the newbies and lurkers that have joined this forum lately.
by smiddy3 ini`m sure you have all noticed the ever increasing number of newbies and lurkers who have visited this site over the past months and i am sure we could all collectively welcome them to this site and support them on learning the ttatt .
and helping them to navigate how they can look up older publications and quotes of the wtb&ts that they would rather remain hidden.. we all know jehovah`s witnesses /governing body never apologizes for mistakes they make they just don`t mention them anymore and explain it away as new light from god.. actually a big cop out.. welcome to all you who are new to this site .. every day their seems to be someone new posting which is great .. and if this is any indication of what is happening in all other ex jw sites the wtb&ts are in deep trouble .

Greetings!
My advice is get into the water slowly, say hi and don't go jumping into the deep end until you get a feel for the people splashing around there.
I would like to add to what smiddy3 said above about the Tetragrammaton not being in the Greek source texts.
I'm not going to argue about what people call the Son but I will point to scripture so people can (hopefully) settle it in their own hearts and minds.
Yehoshua means YHVH is salvation.
Yehoshua said that the Father would send the Holy Spirit in "My name".
Scripture says to repent and be baptised in the name of Yehoshua and receive the Spirit.
Scripture says that all those who call on the NAME of YHVH will be saved AND we are told that there is no other name given under heaven by which we must be saved except Yehoshua.
Yehoshua said to go and make disciples...baptizing then in the name of the Father, in the name of the Son and the name of the Holy Spirit.
*The only one name that CAN be is Yehoshua because that name contains the name of the Father and it is in that name the Holy Spirit is sent.
*The name Jesus just doesn't contain the name of the Father (YHVH/Yah). The Holy Spirit is sent from the Father (Yah)(ezekiel 36:27) in the name of Yehoshua.
*The name Jesus doesn't glorify the Father nor does it make known His name, which Yehoshua said was part of His "mandate". (John 17:26)
YHVH or Yehovah wasn't all over the place in the Greek source texts BECAUSE the name that incorporated the Father's name (Yehoshua) was THE name believers were to use to magnify and bring Glory to the Father.
So, Jehovah's Witness translators seem to have made an error in their efforts to "restore" the Greek scriptures.
Restoration of the text or "rebranding" the text?
Take care noobs! ❤

Common Figure of Speech/Colloquialism?
by rstrats in1. the messiah said that three nights would be involved with his time in the "heart of the earth".. 2. there are some who believe that the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week with the resurrection taking place on the 1st day of the week.. 3. of those, there are some who believe that the "heart of the earth" is referring to the tomb.. 4. however, those two beliefs allow for only 2 nights to be involved.. 5. to account for the discrepancy, some of the above say that the messiah was using common figure of speech/colloquial language of the time, i.e., that it is was common to forecast or say that a day or a night would be involved with an event when no part of the day or no part of the night could occur.. 6. in order for someone to legitimately say that it was common, they would have to know of more that 1 example to make that assertion.. 6. for the purpose of this topic, i would like to ask if there are any 6th day of the week crucifixion advocates who think the messiah was employing common figure of speech/colloquial language of the period?.

You're right. That's why I said may not have occured.
However, it was a colloquialism of the time and the full day or night not occuring criteria has been met.
I suppose you can't have it all if mine might be the best example given, including your own 😉

One example where a daytime or a night time was forecast or said to be involved with an event when no part of the daytime or no part of the night time may not have occurred is when someone or a party were setting out on a journey.
The journey may have been forecast as 2 days journey. A 2 days journey would be understood as 40-50 miles, not 24 hours duration.

Ok.
"That's an issue for a different topic. This one is concerned with one issue and only one issue, i.e., examples where a daytime or a night time was forecast or said to be involved with an event when no part of the daytime or no part of the night time could have occurred."
Why did you use the example you did (3 days & nights in the heart of the earth) if it's not an actual example of the topic you'd like to discuss? Or to put it another way...why have you used a demonstrably incorrect example for the topic you'd like to discuss.

Sister may have had a slight heart attack, do I text her?
by Xanthippe inso my cousin phoned and told me my jw sister was taken to hospital with chest pains and it may have been a slight heart attack or possibly she's starting with angina.
now as some of you know my sisters and brother have had little to do with me for 29 years.
we've met at funerals, or arranged them, but i just thought today what if she did die?

Babylon The Great and JWs
by Ireneus injws teach babylon the great is the whole empire of false religion.
interestingly, bible’s definition of it would include jws also because it is the entity “that rules over the kings of the earth.” (rev 17:18) since revelation is given in symbols (rev 1:1) “kings” cannot be literal, but can mean minds of people because mind acts like king over everyone’s bodily kingdom.. no one exerts power over the minds of jws like their gb does.
just like members of other religions blindly follow what their leaders teach, jws too do—even when changes that are introduced under the guise of “new light” are virtually numerous.

Mr. Roboto...
You said, "by committing spiritual adultery, as she often did, Israel became a harlot, this is confirmed by the bible. There's a lot more in revelation that points to Israel/Jerusalem being Babylon the great, mother of the prostitutes."
The torah prescribes a sacrifice for the sin of adultry. (Lev. 19:20-22) if the woman is not freed. (God asked israel, "where is the certificate of your divorce?")
Though the prophets often called israel back to God, the priests didn't make a sacrifice for the sin of israel's adultry. The scriptures declared that God looked around and any one indivdual who practiced the truth became prey to those who practiced unrighteousness.
God asks, "am I not righteous to save?" And "my own right arm will sustain Me" Scripture says that God's Servant is the right arm of God...that the Servant receives His righteousness from God. Scripture goes on to say that this Servant's soul is made an atonement for sin/transgression. This Servant is God's own right arm that sustains His own righteousness to save BECAUSE israel doesn't recognise their sinful state. So, while it is absolutely true that God didn't COMMAND a man to be sacrificed for sin in the torah or anywhere else in scripture, the scriptures themselves declare that it pleased God to see His Servant willingly "see his soul travail on behalf of many" (in order to be delivered up as the sacrifice for the atonement of THEIR (israel's) sin.) The penalty for adultry without delivering the required sacrifice is death.
God saved many from the penalty of death by the sacrifice of His willing Servant whom He calls His own right arm. God is righteous to save even when man is blind to his need for salvation.
Israel didn't recognize Jesus from the OT scriptures for a few reasons. He was hidden from them as an arrow in a quiver, He was under the cover of God's hand and they hid their face from Him (didn't recognize or acknowledge
their own sin)...the NT says though He was sinless [like an arrow hitting the mark perfectly] He became sin.The mother of all harlots would recognize and acknowledge that sacrifice has been made for sin (Jesus) betroth herself (bride) but she would continue in her sin.
