  i am seriously considering disassociating myself.

  i want to do this because i no longer consider myself one of jehovah's witnesses.

  i no longer consider jehovah as my god and i am in a new religion now.

  Again this is your choice. Weigh it carefully. As a Wiccan just remember not to wear that pentagram or any other self identifying jewelry or dress etc... Until you move away because once they see you you will be in hella trouble.

  In regards to the slander that from that letter and announcement it is only damaging if you want to continue to be around them

  in your case if you want a relationship with your family then you might as well stay or fade. Move away so you can be yourself and continue to humor your family over the phone

  I disassociated a while back. It was what I had to do to move on. I was not going to fade and still have murmuring about me. Nagging family about what I was doing. I could not bear to spend the rest of my life looking over my shoulder wondering if every time I was doing something "unscriptural" if someone would see me. More importantly if you fade you are still a JW. The thought of that repulsed me.

  Writing a letter to leave an organization is not unique to jw land. Resignation letters etc...

  what at this comes down to is what you can handle. If you can bear to face the possibility of never speaking to your family again with the upside of being your true self then write a letter.

  Otherwise you you can fade. Both have their own personal advantages and disadvantages just be very careful and really think your decision through

  Its amazing that so many people have excuses for why the numbers are inflated or why it's not as bad as it may seem

  Edit the title of thread or delete

  is there anyway to perform either of the two options listed above.

  i created a post with a title that is confusing and would like to correct it.

  is this possible for myself or an admin to perform?

  The post is title no more eating children with the rod. It should have been beating children with the rod.

  I use a Mac as well and when I clicked the edit button I also did not get a text box.

  however after thinking about it the thread is to far gone at this point with gifs etc so it may be better to just delete it or something

  there is not one single outright mention of beating your kids anymore.

  Even the scripture that says, " foolishness is tied up in the heart of a boy" is mentioned but the last part of it is gone that talks about the ROD. I find this rather strange. They also state that discipline does not involve abuse or cruelty.

  I guess they are changing with the times,... or with the lawsuits. ROFL

  
  

  I personally can not stomach reading the full article to verify, but if this is true I do find this somewhat interesting. If only they could have felt this way 30+ years ago when I was constantly getting the shit beat out of me. These current JW's have it easy

  Like most apostasy judicial cases it is apparent that midway through when the accused starts to bring up points in the bible and elsewhere that demonstrate how foolish watchtower beliefs are etc... the elders are no longer trying to bring that person back. They are merely stating things with the hopes of solidifying their own beliefs and that of their fellow elders as they sit there.

  I have sat in on 3 of these cases and that is what happens every single time. As a matter of fact after the meeting is over the brothers will stand outside in the parking lot or sit in the car and continue to "sound down" into themselves watchtower teachings with the hopes that they are not going to allow the apostates points to dwell on their minds when they leave

  GB Bodyguards

  i have heard that at the international conventions and even at us headquarters, the governing body travel with entourages or bodyguards.

  does anyone know this to be a fact?

  if so, why?

  I remember while at Bethel when they were having the huge apostate protest they have every year right around lunchtime, Brother sidled wasting ready to walk from 25-30 Columbia Heights down to Standish wish is the complete other end of the block. Myself and a few other young pathetic brothers were so concerned thinking these crazy lunatic apostates would try to kill him... (how fucking Lame)

  Anyway we saw him getting ready to go and in a panic began to ask and in some sense beg to protect him He responded with something along the lines that even if they did do something he was going to heaven anyway and he walked solo to the other building... no bodyguard.

  My room mate was brother Schroders(sp) caretaker and travelled with him wherever he went to tend to his needs. Helped him up and down the stairs for the stage. Carried things for him etc.. He was like 5 foot 6 and not a protector type. No bodyguards or anything like that.
