Well it is quite possible that the people in oppressed communities constantly see police officers shoot people, beat people etc... etc... which is the reason why they are protesting and rioting. It is possible that they have seen the corruption of the Baltimore police in framing young men and women in their community for years.

It is not only possible but factual that in the last 4 years the Baltimore police department has lost over 100 cases or judgements in regards to police brutality and paid out over 5.8 million dollars.

So when you have people who live in these communities who constantly experience these things at the hands of the police, what reason do they have to think that this one particular case everything was on the up and up. Why would it matter if it was to most of them because in another day or two they will witness the same thing happen to them.

These same activities take place in every major city and the residents are upset and so the respond. When you have never had the experience of walking home with your father from field service and watching a police car jam on the breaks, officers jump out slam him on the ground go through his pockets find nothing but cuff him anyway and then put him in the back of a car for 20 minutes while you and your siblings and then have him released with a smile and a chuckle its hard to fathom how degrading this is. Then imagine that happening in front of you to your friends on a fairly regular basis. Maybe you can understand the anger then

Of course as a young man I lived in communities where I saw these things happen and on a much larger scale because there was no recording device to capture it. I was able to do well for myself and them move to what some may consider upscale communities in an attempt to escape. Instead I was pulled over quite often and harassed. I made complaints and nothing happened twice.

So yes I have an interesting perspective, but there are also facts to backup what I am stating. Yes, I am angry because I have a son who I have to let know that it is not enough to not be involved in crime he has to be EXTRA careful and even then it still might not matter.

When someone says they do not take insults personally, and talk about people being internet commandos yet you were the person to insult someone else first by calling them a fool which you know very well as stated you would not say to the face of someone standing in front of you. That is the textbook definition of an internet commando. Of course, you have your board mates who will jump to your side but lets be serious Go die in a fire is just a funny piece of internet humor that has been around for ions and I doubt anyone would take that seriously accept the two people who did.

other people referring to protesters as welfare recipients etc when the large majority of those protesting have been peaceful. Seems biased but whatever I guess it's just par for the course

Morpheus you have no idea. You do not even live in Baltimore. You said you visit from time to time for a meal. I have lived in cities like New York and Newark and was looking out for my life during the Newark riots of 1992.

You may not want to accept those Facts about Baltimore that were stated but hey are true so yes ignore the fact that I won't agree with you and jump on your bandwagon.

Just so you understand I am not convicting these 6 men yet. Regardless of the outcome of THIS case these people need to be in the streets of Baltimore protesting. In he last four years 90 something people have one cases of police brutality and misconduct and civil rights abuse against these THUG police in this city.

The drivers anonymous relative says the driver thinks that grey was injured before he got in the van and is scared that 6 officers will be prosecuted when it was probably one two or three people responsible. Lol. So the driver thinks that they injured him but no one wants to address that part. Instead they quote a CRIMINAL who could not even see GREY but THOUGHT he HEARD grey thrashing about. Let's just all accept that these men won't be charged. Let's just all accept that the police in this country are not being abusive. Its not like the police in this country have an extremely long history of abusing minorities and framing them. It's not like there is a history of police covering for their own. Let's just realize that the government does not have a history of covering over things assassinating people and destroying certain segments of the population or writing laws to target particular groups of people.

Didn't they say that the prisoner could not see grey because they were separated by an iron wall. The prisoner said he "thinks" that grey was trying to hurt himself because he heard him throwing himself against the truck. The officer however stated that they were separated by a wall and could not see him. So I guess that doesn't really clear up anything unless you want it to.

so, the anti-gmo movement scored another victory today.

chipotle has opted to only use non-gmo food items.. hooray for them.

i'm pretty neutral on the subject, mostly because, other than questionable treatment of farmers, i have seen no evidence to avoid gmo's for health reasons.. basically, my neutrality boils down to the stance that i'll buy non-gmo, so long as the price is reasonable.

To say anything in opposition to current science is to be put in the realm of an anti-Vaxxer. Even more so on a site filled with former Christians who were once duped by ignoring science in favor of religion.

Lie #1 is not a lie. In the Ferguson situation and in this one it was fact that outsiders were coming in and stoking the flames getting things started. A number of online groups even stated they were behind it. There are residents who are there who state the same thing. The news stated the same thing during these riots on AMERICAN tv outlets (a broad range of them not just CNN) So here we have residents and a number of media outlets as well as online groups stating that outsiders where involved.

Lie#2 is not a lie either. There were peaceful protests for days. Large portions of Baltimore not even involved. Not so sure a blunt England but the US media has a long history of reporting things just to get ratings. They are not balanced. They try to sensationalize things for ratings. I have family just outside of Baltimore and Maryland and the first thing that they state is that indeed it is being overblown.

"The other double standard is that people then make excuses for the behavior. "There were lots of peaceful protesters" they say, "you can't judge everyone on the actions of a few". Apart from the fact that this wasn't just a few people isn't this completely contradictory to the notion that they want to condemn the police as a whole based on the alleged actions of a few."

Not a double standard. The people have condemned this police department not all police. They have had interactions with the police in ways that you probably can not understand. Look at the news in Florida where the Palm Beach police were using black criminals mugshots as shooting targets. Look at the corruption cases pending against the entire department.

When there are riots in sporting events in the last few years they are not even reported as riots. They burn cars destroy property rape people tear down street signs and it gets no coverage. Why? Because they are white hockey and baseball fans just acting up. The negative stereotypes of black people in the USA has been put on them for generations wether it was warranted or not. Why are there no stereotypes of white people as Slave driving genocidal murderers when that is what they have done in Europe Africa and North America for literally centuries? There have been many cases of white people destroying black communities and killing black people but there was no negative stereotype attached to white skin? Why not.

Your experience and especially being from another country greatly limits your ability to fully understand the complexity of race in America. It is similar to talking heads lashing out against things in britian when they are not a part of that society and therefore can not fully understand the intricacies of the situation
