I also love this site and I am always looking for valuable information herein posted. Some of them I translate to portuguese and make it available on some portuguese forums for people that can not access the highly important and always updated informations about Watchtower posted here (I hope that with this, I am not making something wrong).

I think I always will be greateful for this JW.net.

but in some homes tensions linger long after checkmate.

chess has been a game of war since it originated...a play substitute for the art of war....a danger of stirring up competition with one another even developing hostility towards another, something the bible warns christians to avoid doing...what effect does chess have upon one?

You may check, please, my information, but after 1973, the Watchtower has published another article changing its view point on chess game. I can not put the specific number here because I do not have access to the english editions of the Watchtower publications, only the portuguese editions, but I am quite sure of that.

Of course, this does not change the fact that once they have condemned.

This is amazing to me because in past we have been informed here in Brazil that it was Jeovah's provision that the World Headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses be in USA as it is the land of freedom and guarantee of Civil Rights, what would help to keep the brotherhood spiritually feeded during the difficult days ahead, when the near coming Great Tribulation begins. And I was convinced to that by this argument.

This moving from USA to Canada, to me, seems to indicate one additional evidence of a changing among the religion leadership in the beliefs of the imminence of the end.

i found this interesting information in the 2010 report on international religious freedom.

the government has taken steps to integrate non-catholic religious groups through the foundation for pluralism and coexistence.

the foundation provides funds to minority and religious groups to promote religious freedom and dialogue.

I entirely agree with InquiryMan. It would be very nice to have some kind of confirmation.

For sure, this is a matter of serious concern as the official teaching of JWs always was never make any kind of agreement with what they identify as "Babylon, The Great" or the "false" religions.

Through some threads in this forum we have been seeing that in recent past the Watchtower is giving steps toward discarding this doctrine.
