"Because these churches weren't stupid enough to preach prop 8 from the pulpit" Evidently you did not attend an African-American church in the past four weeks.

Prop 8 - Petition against the tax-exempt status of the Mormons
by Devilsnok ini see no reason why any organised religion should be exempt from paying their due taxes.
here's a chance to rob the mormon church of their tax exempt status.... please visit http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/review-the-501c3-status-of-the-church-of-latter-day-saints-the-mormons and sign it and pass it on to your friends.. .
the lds church contributed a significant amount of money and effort to endorse prop 8 in california via its network of church, media, and community outlets enshrining discrimination under the law for thousands of californians and their families.. .

I find it interesting that you all are targeting the Mormon church. Have any of you seen the fact that over 70% of the African-Americans in California voted for Prop 8? CNN has it here. Instead of targeting a church that is 99% white, ie. the Mormon church, why not target the black church? You all have it wrong. Whites said no, and Asians said no to Prop 8. However, African-Americans, Latinos, and others (?) said yes to it. Why don't we see the GLBT community throwing their temper tantrums in front of First AME Church, West Angeles Church of God in Christ, or Faithful Central Bible Church?

It depends. Are they willing to entertain the fact that the WT org has absolutely zero credibility? Are they will to even entertain the fact that they may even be wrong? Unless they are willing to do this it is a waste of time.

Earlier this afternoon we got a call from the DA handling this case, and the second prelim was cancelled. We go to trial in January. More info will be forthcoming as I get it.
Thanks again for your prayers, postive thoughts, and support.

Group Pride Rooted in Insecurity
by Robert7 ininteresting study showing that self-boasting is tied to insecurity & a low social status... gosh how this applies to meetings, since boasting is all they are about!.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20081028/sc_livescience/grouppriderootedininsecurity .
from screaming baseball fans to political rally-goers, groups that engage in boastful self-aggrandizing may be trying to mask insecurity and low social status.

Interestingly, this article fails to point out the following:
Brown/Chicano pride
Black pride
Gay pride
Either they are ALL signs of insecurity, or none of them are. You can't pick and choose.

Born Agains:- What do you beileve?
by LouBelle inthere was a post on here about been being a born again christian.
i must admit i don't know all the ins & outs of being one, but i did pop into a church and did a stint for 3 months before i left as their doctrine become clearer to me - i couldn't stay.. i'm not sure if these beliefs are held all around the earth by bas so clarification would be welcome:.
1. paying tithe: i was told by the leaders of the church that this is a mandate from god/the bible and it plays a key roll in doing the will of the lord.. 2. once saved...always saved & a constant laying your sins at the foot of the cross.. 3. the belief in the rapture.

"These are the same guards whom the Jewish religious leaders bribed and promised to handle their superiors in order to facilitate their cover-up of the resurrection."
You just answered your own questions. Guards can be bribed, and no doubt were. Paid sufficiently, they may have even HELPED roll the stone away. So no matter how much noise it might make, it wouldnt really matter, would it?Well, I gues the early disciples were just awash with money. After all Jesus had to borrow the donkey he rode into Jerusalem on, the upper room that he held the last supper in, and even the tomb he was laid in. With all that borrowing, I can see where his disciples had the money to bribe Roman soldiers.

Boring bookstudy book...which one was the worst?
by White Dove ini remember the old timers saying that the red babylon book was the hardest to understand.. in my memory, i'd have to say the isaiah books and daniel book were the most involved and boring.. the revelation book had gorgeous pictures in it (the writing was horribly boring), so i just looked at them, and i was 22 at the first study of it!.

I wonder why there was never a book on Romans?
Romans would show the folly of WT dogma. The GB is dumb, but they are not stupid.
Besides I seem to recall that the big shake-up at Brooklyn in the early eighties was over groups that began studying Romans & Galatians. Both books teach salvation by justification as opposed to salvation by works.
