Was I forced? No. There was no physical force that made me become a JW. That said, there is an incredible amount of pressure to get baptized as early as possible. The reason is simple, an additional hook that is sunk into the mind of a person to keep them in bondage to the WTB&TS. Once a person is baptized, the threat of disfellowshipping becomes even more ominous than when one is not baptized.

i have some answers already, but would like some additional input.
why did jehovahs witnesses properly worshiped christ jesus until 1954?if all that was made was made through him(john 1:3) and for him( colossians 1:16, romans 11:36), why add word other-allos in col 1:15-17?was jehovah god without wisdom before creating him(proverbs 8:22-31) ?if firstborn means first created, then what does firstborn of the dead mean?

- If Jesus is a lesser god because he is only Might God(Isaiah 9:6), would that not make Jehovah God also lesser god since his called Might God(Isaiah 10:20-21)?
- If Only-begotten(John 3:16) means Jesus was Jehovah’s first creation, how then do we explain Isaac(Hebrews 11:17) being the only-begotten of Abraham and not Ishmael?
- Why did God, in Genesis 1:26, said let us make man in our image(God’s image, not angel + God)?
- Could you explain how “Jehovah made it rain sulphur from Jehovah” Genesis 19:24 NWT?
- Why did Thomas say to Christ Jesus “the Lord of me, and the God of me”(John 20:28 cf. Psalm 34:23)?
- Why does historical documents show that the first Christians and Apostolic Fathers prayed and worshiped Christ Jesus as God?

So why was this guy a priest and bishop if he realized it wasn't a holy book and the more fantasical stories of it are made-up?
He wants to be a Christian, yet doesn't accept the miracles performed by Jesus as real or other characters from the NT as real?
Very simply, he does not have the courage of his convictions. My own view is simple, if someone can disprove that Jesus rose from the dead then I will become an atheist. There would no longer be a need to profess Christianity, and since all other religions are just the opinion of people, and incompatible with logic & reason, atheism would be the only religion left.

I never taught my children that Santa was real. I taught them about St. Nicholas, the real Christian. I also explained that Santa Claus was not a real person, but a part of American folklore. Of course this was done at age appropriate levels. But the main point was to teach them that Santa Claus was not real.
Now we did enjoy Santa Claus. My children were not raised as JWs and as such I made sure that they had full enjoyment of Christmas. I did make sure that they understood why we celebrated Christmas, namely, the birth of Jesus of Nazareth.
I do not beleive it is moral to teach Santa Claus as a real person. I do not believe I should teach them that. Whether or not it is rational, I would have to think about that more.

Liberal Christians and Conservative Christians---The Inescapable Quandries
by mankkeli init seems to me that whether you are a liberal christian (for purposes of this discussion, one who believes that the bible isn't the inerrant word of god) or a conservative christian (for purposes of this discussion one who believes that the bible is the inerrant word of god), you have quandries that make your faiths untenable.
interestingly, these quandries are based on logical premises that each group of christians maintain, premises which are reasonable.. .
the christian who believes that the bible is inerrant has the logical premise that a god who wanted man to know him and understand his commands would give him a book that accurately reflects his nature and commands.

The quandry for these Christians is that they must defend the Bible, which contains contradictions, scientific and historical inaccuracies, and morals that would make most Christians today shudder if they came in any context other than the Bible.
Examples please? I find it hard to respond to generalized assertions. I prefer specific arguments with some sort of factual basis.
