the beginning of the end for me was when i questioned the elders on the child abuse policy-i honestly could not believe the 2 witness rule would apply that that particular situation.
i knew our congregation had alleged cases of child molestation from years past, but the perp in question was disfellowshipped.
all of a sudden, after about 13 years, she wants to come back.
GOOD JOB ANYWAY, TooOpinionated, and GOOD SHOW ! ! !
I add my warmest welcome to the others you have received

my parents went to the assembly this weekend.
they were telling me about disciplining children... the speaker was saying how all babies are born selfish and demanding for their own needs and not anyone elses.
the jist of the talk being about discipline, and training children ...ie taking them out for a good beating.. well, i don't know if any of you have ever 'just seen red!
These stories make my stomach churn. So horrific.
My experience growing up Dub is slightly different in that my mother, although she believes in spanking, is actually pretty mild and tender-hearted, so whenever she would see a parent getting distraught or angry with their crying/wriggling/misbehaving child she would go offer to take the little one for a bit and give them a break. Then she would stand in the back holding and rocking the baby or take older one's out for a quick, quiet walk in the parking lot.
But I do remember feeling great distress over a lot of other JW parent's treatment of their own children or harsh advice to others.

the quest for the truth?where does reality start?
maybe by finding where the lies stop?
what is a lie, is it a blatant untruth, can it be simply creating the understanding of what not to ask about?
I think you are amazing, Wanderlust. I love the way you express yourself, so genuine and heartfelt. Several of your posts, including this one have touched me deeply.
I continue to find myself in awe over the heartbreak and damage done to so many who have made their way here and have found acceptance and understanding and a sense of belonging. And it is this, I think, which helps bring out our true selves (which have somehow managed to survive deep inside) and our true potential (which so longs to emerge and thrive).
All my best to you as your story continues to unfold. May you experience much love and joy!
