What I find very interesting is the reaction of some Americans to her ... any hint of 'betrayal' by an artist and people turn on them. Very sad.
Could you expand on that statement, Simon? Just not sure what you mean by betrayal.

I go to the children's section for 9 to 12 year olds. I'm glancing over the various titles on the shelf, when IT catches my eye: a familiar thin brochure thingy lying in wait on top of the books. A Watchtower from Sept 2001. I slide it in my purse and proceeded to do a sweep of the whole library.
I'm certainly was not suprised by finding a WT in the library, but in the kid's section? Grrrrrr!
I know the usual places. Laundry mats, doctor's offices, etc. I'm wondering what other odd or unusual places people have either placed, or found, WT's?

It amazes me, that people don't look into the mirror, before they make stupid remarks. Ya she's changed the way she feels over the years, haven't we all? I mean how would you feel, on your life being judged, on how you were when you were a dub? Didn't you grow out of that? Isn't it possible for a celebrity to change over the years? Just like any other human? Ya she did some wild stuff when she was young, but so did many of you! Should that reflect on who you are now? Don't like her acting much, but I like her music
.
Normally, I would agree with this viewpoint, HOWEVER, here is where Madonna deserves to be torn a new a**hole.
A few years ago I saw an interview with her and she, then, expressed how she NEVER allows her daughter, Lourdes, to watch TV, because she thinks it would inhibit the development of her creativity. Well, Okaaay. Yet, Madonna still uses this same medium to sell her product. Much of which is sexually provocative. I can allow what she did before she had children and later finding it to be dangerous. . But, the irony of her marketing herself to MY CHILD to make a buck (make that millions of them), to find that same thing to a determent to her own kid, is disgusting, IMNOHO.
What Madonna needs to do in my eyes is to stop marketing herself to children.
I also find the hairs raise on the back of my neck when I see an interview with Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera. They brashly declare that they are no longer children and are entitled to wear almost nothing, appear in sexually provocative videos, and sing about wanton sexual activity. Well, Okaay. Just don't market it to KIDS!
It reminds me of the whole "We are the World" thing that was done in the mid 1980s. All these rock stars patting themselves on the back for great "positive" thing they had done for starving people in Ethiopia. That they had they "POWER" to bring people together. They were eager to take responsibility for that one.
But, indeed, the sword has a double edge. If they have that kind of power to influence change for the better, then they have the same power to influence change for the worse. But, when asked to step to acknowledge their negative impact on our children and our culture, the stage lights are shut off abruptly and the microphone abandoned on it's stand.

if so, does it affect your relationship?
is it hard to deal with?
i think that this is becoming a more common scenario in american society.
I had always made more money than hubby before I became a stay-home mommy. Interestingly, for a few years, my spouse was nervous about being the sole breadwinner. He felt the pressure of being "it". However, I still control the money and make only consult him on the big money decisions. He trusts me 100%.
Occasionally, he will ask "How much money do we have"? And I will give him the run down. He doesn't want the responsibility of managing it, though. It's an arrangement that works for us.

if you had to choose another user name, what would you choose?.
Would I?!?! LOL!
I have, twice.
Only thing, it really tends to confuse people. Especially when they become increasingly bizarre usernames.
That's why I sign my "original" username "andee".

her most recent post here was back in late october... does anyone kknow how she is?
Hi Nathan,
Heard from Queenie on April 19. Seems to be doing well. I believe because of computer issues, she can't post to the board. I emailed her to let her know about this thread. I'm sure she would be very appreciative that someone has noticed her absence.

a couple of my favorites are taxi and now the soprano's.
I Love Lucy- I always get 100% on the trivia tests.
Seinfeld-Loved it!
The Brady Bunch: 8pm Friday nights ABC. Marsha was my IDOL!
Everyone Loves Raymond: Love the brother. "Your girlfriend just ate a fly"
Get A Life-Only last two years back in the 90's. I just coudn't understand why more people didn't watch this show. It was hilarious!
Just in case you didn't know about it (and apparently most didn't), it starred Chris Elliot as a 30 something loser paperboy who still lived with his parents. All kinds of wierd things went on. One of my favoritie episodes is when Chris's character decides to become a male model. He decides his stage name is going to be "sparkles". I still laugh when I think about that show.
I did a search and found out I can get the show on DVD. Way cool!

after reading the thread about posing in the nude, i was suprised to see how many people on here had done that....made me start to wonder what other interesting tidbits (hence the title of this thread) i didn't know about my fellow posters.
so what interesting or unusual thing have you done or been or seen in your life?
posed in the nude?
Andee - and you passed that up to become/stay a .............. JW
(((((((((((((Ladylee)))))))))))))))
My family had long stopped going to meetings by this time. My Mom always hated being a JW. Her mother, my grandmother, was a JW fanatic. Though, my Father still very much, abet secretly, felt the WT doctrines were "correct". I never was a JW as a teenager or an adult. However, I was haunted for many years, well into my adulthood, over the horrible death that was suppose to be my fate upon leaving. Still, even as a kid, I knew "it all" just didn't make sense. But, those Armageddon images held me emotionally hostage for years.

When I was fourteen and waiting for the bus, outside the Rivera Hotel in Palm Springs, with a girlfriend, a limousine pulls in front of where we were sitting on the grass. This man jumps out of the other side and begins to talk to us. He hands us a card with a man's name, and says that if we want to make some money, he can put us to work "dancing" in some movies. He stressed that it was easy work and we could make lots of money.
As he was talking to us, the back window of the limo edges down to reveal a little old man who resembled George Burns in the Sunshine Boys. Guess he wanted to get a better look at us as we sat on the grass with our long tanned legs stretch out in front of us. Though, I'm sure our youth was the main attraction.
Anyway, we take the card. We were young and naive, but even we knew something just wasn't right. I take the card home to my parents, who flip-out. They call the police department and find out the old guy is some big name in porn. Ah, the 70's. Nobody made a big deal about being underage. All a girl needed was a fake ID (not like now where fake breasts are mandatory and "all models are over the age of 18")) and porn stardom awaited.
I passed on the offer.
