Honest Opinion, Please

i'm not very craftsy, but i have a thing about crocheting dishcloths.

it's a basket-weave design and i have mentioned in the past how it helps me to keep sane.

i have been suicidal lately and thought, why not send these dishcloths out to my friends and they will always have a little piece of me to be remembered by.

I love getting handmade gifts. As a fellow crocheter, I am also crocheting items as gifts. I saw that very commercial this morning and it caught my attention too. I thought to myself "I hope people don't think that about MY gifts". However, to really drive their point home, Staples showed some really hideous stuff. Not a beautifully designed afghan, or sweater. However, I am certainly not opposed to someone giving me a laptop as a gift.

I know what you mean about people just being polite. Even if a few people are, I wouldn't stop making the dishclothes. Actually, that is something I have never made. Maybe I will try it! Just as soon as I complete the fifty projects I have in the works right now.

P.S. My all time favorite xmas gift was when I was 13 and my Mom made me a pair of crocheted slippers. I loved those slippers and wore them out. She doesn't remember the pattern and I am always on the look out for a pattern that comes close to THOSE slippers.

Would You, Could You, Marry Your Wife Again?

a couple of years back, 2 friends of ours decided that they would like to have their marriage vows renewed in our local church.

the main reason behind this was that they had married abroad some years back, and they thought that a sort of "second wedding" would be a nice thing for the mums and dads who had missed out on the original.

it was fine, very enjoyable.. hmm, i got to thinking, her ladyship and i did not marry in church, but settled for a registry office bash because of parental jw pressure, and also, because i had been married before it was, back then, very difficult to obtain a church wedding if one had been divorced.

we have so much negative to say about the wt, that sometimes we forget to look for negative things to say about the world.

well sometimes it just reaches out and slaps you.. today a man made an offhand comment to me that has me fantisizing about murder.. i've been working on the exterior of a house for the past couple of days, and the woman next door, who comes out to her car every now and then for a ciggy, is, well, slammin.

There is nothing wrong with "judging" a situation and deciding which action, or inaction, is appropriate.

The use of ones judgement is highly useful and good.

Hi Lin,

I wouldn't say that his happens very often. Two situations like this stand out in my mind. One was legit and the other was not. The legit one was from a long time poster who was in dire circumstance. The other was from a newbie who needed money for "legal costs" which turned out to be completely bogus.

From time to time a poster will need a little help with a particular situation and people have offered their help. Granted, those circumstances were verifiable and the posters not new to this board.

Whether Yuziman's delemia is true, or not, I really do not know. Too many times people have told a tale of woe, that doesn't necessarily involve money, only to be proven a fraud later. Poster "Danni" is one for the history books. So, I am certainly not inclined to reach for my checkbook any time soon.
