What's going on with Witness World?

i've heard that it's changed hands and most of the jws are bailing... did someone from here take it over?.

You're probably referring to the reorganization they did about about 4 years back. The President and the directors (all part of the Governing Body) resigned from those positions in the WT Corporation.

Then the Organization created about three new corporations and moved about assets, functions, etc. among them. Pretty sure the WT lawyers came up with this scheme as a shell game to minimize any losses from the succession of lawsuits they'd face.

But its just a shell game because the GB is still supposedly in charge of teachings. As for alot of them bailing...I haven't seen a mass exodus but many of their teens sure aren't falling for this crud.....They're really fortunate having had the internet practically all of their lives. Regular attendance at meetings has dropped though, and I can happily say so has contributions in our area and at the circuit assemblies I've gone to.

Questions on Adam & Eve?

it has been a long time since i opened a bible but these questions keep coming up in my head so i thought i would ask our all knowing here.

according to the bible adam & eve ate the forbidden fruit and became embarrassed of their bodies so they covered up.

this makes no sense since they had been naked and where having sex so why were they embarrassed?

Spies? Do tell.

so it is well known that this religion has spies...my mom used spies at my school to get information about me.

many haveposted their own experiences about spies.

i want to know more about it on a large scale.. like, "watchers" at a convention?

Well I did post this once before but my MS dad and an elder spied on the separated wife a fellow dub to help him have some hard evidence of adultery. They were too inept though and could be easily seen and recognized. She actually waved to them on one day. The day they tried to rummage through the garbage she called my mom and told her to tell my Dad the only reason she didn't call the cops on him was because of her friendship with my Mom. She was only giving this one warning though. That ended my dad's stint as a spy. I wouldn't really consider myself having been spied on. Blatantly monitored yes.

today, right around the time i was expecting nancy home from school, on this her second day back, the doorbell rings.

guess who?.

i will simply cut and paste the entry i made into the now very detailed log i am keeping since nancy's suicide attempt.

How's Nancy finding the first couple days back a school? I hope there's understanding classmates there for her.

This may be yet another post where you all think I must have constantly been wearing rose tinted glasses, but here goes:

All the adults in the foreign language congregation I grew up in did all sorts of things together.And many of them had different educational backgrounds, jobs, incomes, and were from different regions of the mother country.

With us teens though it was exactly like the sub-cultures you'd find at school.

When that congregation was disbanded and we all went to the english, my father and the other adults were confronted with many people who didn't ever bother to try to broaden out. Alot of them were dissillusioned with the english.

I'm glad the pricks...oops...JW teens....I grew up with were more natural about it and cliquish because it helped to keep things real for me. Actually there were two really nice ones (heartwise) that would even risk their cool status to talk to a loser like me.

From what has happened to a number of other posters here, I'm forced to conclude that I haven't been spied on extensively because I'm not worth it!

I feel like Bugs Bunny when he got enraged that bounties on rabbits were only 25 cents. I'm just a harmless cuddly creature eh? Maybe I should raise a little hell.

after recently reading reasoning from the scriptures i began to question the organization.

And from your impulse to question and find answers, I'd say your only lost/perdu to the Org...but you're not hopelessly lost in the numbing JW mindset.

I envy you're being unbaptized...that is a huge benefit and should make fading away real easy. You sound smart and resourceful enough to pull off a fantasy I had while bored in service a long time ago. I was never motivated enough to try. Get a few territory cards on your own. Look for the do not calls on the sheet that are nearly expired. Secretly leave in their mailbox a pamphlet/flyer with websites on the WT false prophecies, flipflops, and now the UN and silentlambs material. Change the date on the do not calls to make it expired and the next time you're out with an elder you and him try the call. Too much work, with no real certainty of it working though..those people either wouldn't read it or the ones who did would probably not be at home. I

here is an excerpt from the first site.. premier dalton mcginty is considering allowing an islamic court to resolve domestic disputes among the muslim community in ontario by applying sharia law, a 1400 year old system of religious law.

the plan was proposed by the islamic institute for civil justice and is vehemently opposed by the muslim canadian congress, the canadian council of muslim women and by several legal and women's groups.

ontario's former attorney-general marion boyd is hearing from both sides of the issue while attorney-general michael bryant is already busy looking at ways to have it up and running this year.. http://www.listenuptv.com/.

To those of you who grew up "in the Truth" but wanted out, the answer should be clearly no. If you thought you were subjected to a stifling and unduly restrictive system then read up on sharia law. Teenage girls in France from Muslims homes who were caught not wearing the hijabs while at school were physically punished by parents and sometimes even beaten by other members of their religious community. If only the adults who subjected themselves to this were involved then I'd say its their poison, but thats not realistically going to be the case.

Also to any who like to argue that Sharia law is equitable and just to all involved including women as long as these individuals are filling their traditional roles, what's the chances of that happening in a different culture, land and time? Were they truly fair to begin with? Tell that to the 13 year forced to marry someone who already has another wife or two.

Finally and on a different note, the last thing I need is for more women to have one more excuse to turn me down.

why should we refrain from whatever brings the "greatest" personal pleasure to our measured and time-limited existence?

Then expect the same thing to happen to those you love. Hows that for a deterrant? Empathy was mentioned and the Golden rule and they were spot on. Most people acknowledge the gut feelings of these things, except for those few psycho/sociopaths.

If you don't fancy ANYONE else then you're more than likely an aberration, even if you want to strictly talk about this from a darwinian and purely materialist point of view. Look up kin selection. Amoral evolution would not have kept selecting for such a behaviour if it didn't benefit the organisms somehow. True its only for those sharing the same genes. But we can be more than ill tempered chimps can't we and extend the sphere in which it operates?
