Do you really hate JWs?..... or is it the WT??

to me, jehovah's witnesses are the watchtower society.

i don't think you can seperate the 2. they are both inseperably joined, infact the wt defines how jws believe.

many here say they don't "hate" jws individually, just the society, ie the wt.. where in your personal opinion is the distinction drawn??

In JWs, I've experienced the same range of personalities that I did at school, university and work. As individuals some dubs are just impossible to hate, most affect/ed me neutrally, and then there are the few that are abrasive and really turn me off. As a whole I don't hate them, and in fact really do feel sorry for most of tem because they're being conned and used bt the WTS.

The WTS with their "God-Complex"plagued leadership, and the self-serving cronies that work along with them can @#$%&^ go to hell.

"fear only fear itself", is a maxim that i regularly used to use, until the habit became ingrained.. it was truly liberating.

I do from time to time feel uneasy about knowing more about myself, about my inner nature in particular, because like you mentioned I'd lose my current image of myself. But for me at least, its not because I'm afraid of losing myself. I'm more dreadful of really learning who I truly am only to find something spiteful, bitter, selfish and cold. Is the "good" only a thin layer itself being kept out of fear of the darkness within? If the "good" in that case is a coping mechanism for the fear can it affect some change in who I am as well?

A different point to anyone (and I'm not necessarily talking personally now)

What can a person do to overcome the fear of not being loved by anyone? Assuming they've only ever really known conditional love.

Thank you for providing those links. Coast-to-Coast is one of my guilty pleasures when I get the occasional bout of insomnia. But I think you'll agree that alot of whats said there is just plain wacky. Just when I thought I had weaned myself off of this stuff, the siren song of conspiracy theorists lures me back. Now Ebola would be a nastier virus to use as a weapon (8 out of 10 die from it).

Exactly how they did it in 2001, I don't know but here's an interesting little blurb I found in the 2005 yearbook pg.28-29. Maybe this has something to do with it?

"The long-awaited day finally came on December 7, 2003" writes the India Branch. "It was the day for the dedication of our newly constructed branch at Bangalore, in the south-central part of India."
Set on 43 acres, the 320,000-square-foot- complex is like a small township. So the US branch was the third largest foreign donor that year. Wow I'm sure they really helped alot of the population by all of it apparently going to their own branch in India.

We had the same sort of farce at the congregation level. Instead of using the funds collected as a charity to do actual good, we'd be donating the portions earmearked by the publishers to the main Canadian branch. That was one way the distribution quota set out by law was met. Heaven forbid actually giving some of it out to a group out of the Org. Glad I didn't have to do that stint very long

Magazines adding up at the KH ?

no doubt there are several faders on the board.

if your like me, you had been active, and had been recieving the magazines at the counter, every week.

then we start missing meetings, then disappear.

As magazine servant, I did just change people's order on my own when it was obvious they were "irregular". I let it go for quite a while until I didn't have much space left in the folders. That particular congregation also had alot of publisher turnover and alot of them wouldn't even bother telling me they were moving. I felt sorry for the trees but not for the WTS pocketbook.

The PO got rather agitated over the large stacks of magazines that were always being brought back to the hall. Out of the roughly 500 AWs and 500 WTs ordered per issue, I'd end up getting back about 10% of them on average, which the pioneers used for their early morning street witnessing and laundromat/gas station runs.

As a fader I have 2 of each as my standing order and the stack doesn't get that big even with 6-8 week intervals between pickup.

A thought on Quotes and the copyright thing.

i downloaded and reviewed the contents of the zip file that was thoughtfully provided of the content of quotes' sight.

i am not a lawyer, however in college i did take a number of law courses, so i'll give you my take on the situation.

it looks to me like the wtbts did have quotes dead to rights on that one.

I can't make any informed statement on whether or not key researchers are being murdered, but if no one can generate a list of names that can confirm the details I'd think it all bunk.

As to the CDC "making a killer flu", its a preventative measure and smart one. Their making strains now in a controlled environment and I would imagine, they'd subsequently make vaccines against them. So that we're at least somewhat prepared for a possible killer outbreak. I doubt they're trying to set one up. Its not some highly improbable Frankenstein virus thats being made. The whole process is all to easily occurable in nature.

These influenza viruses are segmented strand RNA viruses - simply put their genetic info is divided up into separate strands ( 8 of them IIRC). Reassortment of those segmented strands can occur between different strains. Scenario: Two different strains of influenza virus enter a host. One is the very virulent avian one and the other a non-lethal human variant. When they replicate, and there are segmented strands not yet enveloped, its very possible for some segmented strands of one strain to be swapped with their homolog from the other strain. So its possible to swap in the info that makes the avian flu virus so virulent into the influenza envelope that is capable of easily infecting people. Voila - a killer virus that is easily transmissable among people which can lead to a pandemic.

If one goes by Mayr's definition of a biological species: a group or population of interbreeding organisms that are reproductively isolated from other such groups , then there are several examples of speciation in nature.

Here's just one example I pulled from www.talkorigins.org.

You can read the full article in the February, 1989 issue of Scientific American.

It's called "A Breed Apart." It tells about studies conducted on a fruit fly, Rhagoletis pomonella, that is a parasite of the hawthorn tree and its fruit, which is commonly called the thorn apple. About 150 years ago, some of these flies began infesting apple trees, as well. The flies feed an breed on either apples or thorn apples, but not both. There's enough evidence to convince the scientific investigators that they're witnessing speciation in action. Note that some of the investigators set out to prove that speciation was not happening; the evidence convinced them otherwise.

So unfalsifiable models like intelligent design are good science? Thats rich.

Tolerance they say? Of what? Useless ideas that haven't concretely increased our knowledge base one iota? I mean I love the idea of say ... directed panspermia ... but if its baseless then there's nothing for the scientific method to work on.

I'm glad the Judge saw the disclaimer for what it was.
