Very few people seem to like my Dr.Demento 25th anniversary album (I still think its funny).
The Cult -Ceremony is another bomb with guests although I've only played it when they wanted to hear it cuz I really didn't like it. Their other stuff from Electric or Love was much better.
edit to add: Oh my god, how could I have forgotten to mention Love and Rockets.

i was wondering if anybody out there have heard a jw disfellowshipped or disassociated under the new way they announce df/da "no longer one of jw" how did it sound?
how do other jw's know if a person left on their own or was forced out?
i forsee some future lawsuits because people are going to gossip and say alot of bad things about the person who might have just left on his or her own.

I picked just the right Tuesday night meeting to go to and heard it. It doesn't sound ominous at all (well the PO didn't make it sound so), but I did hear two distinct gasps.
I personally didn't notice but others said he was present in the second school for that evening and for each of the KH meetings in the following 3 weeks. Maybe he'll smarten up and kiss them off.

Did anyone catch the very subtle suggestion that Palpatine gave about who Anakin's real father is? Remember from TPM about there being no father, and add what Palpatine said about manipulating the midichlorians...and you get a revelation analogous to that of ESB when Vader told Luke that "I am your father".....am I wrong?
That would be a great twist. Palpatine trying to make the ultimate apprentice from beginning to end. He did call him son once during the movie and affectionately touched his head when found charred on the bank of th lava flow.
Did I understand it right though that Palpatine said that the Sith Master who knew how to do that was killed by his apprentice? Then I think Palpatine also said to Ani that they could together try and find out the secret to having the midichlorians create life. If I didn't get those lines scrambled in my head, then maybe it was all made up by Palpatine. He knew about Ani's conception as well as how he felt about losing his mother (he told him that). A lie to lure him further into the Dark Side?

I nearly always wait for video release but, I knew I wanted to see ep.3 as it was meant to be seen. Lucas made good on this one. The dialogue was much better than in the last two but still not as natural as on the original trilogy.
I agree with you Leo, I didn't like how Padme died. I know they were limited by the fact she was to die during childbirth, and it avoided the quandary of how would that happen when they had access to such advanced medical technology....I think she could have been injured by Ani (ooooh the guilt)...had to give birth prematurely without technological aid, the complications eventually mean bye bye.
I can understand how she was immobilized by her torn emotions in the rest of the flick, not wanting to move against Ani and maybe even refusing to act on it hoping it was a phase he'd get over. I think Natalie did a great job of the little bit given to her overall...and I'm not saying that just because she's a zillion times hotter than Carrie Fisher.(Although I liked Leia's "attitude" more)

also, does the resentment for jw's grow in a linear or a exponential manner with time spent as a jw?.
Stuck growing up as a jw from about 5 yrs old. Got baptized at about 19/20 yrs. I really tried being spiritual since most of my life I didn't believe in anything. Thankfully spent the next four years focussing more on my schooling, but still attending meetings etc. Been idling and coasting the last few years.
Edited to add: A sum of about 27 yrs.

The elders in this one english congregation are rather diligent with their sheperding calls and since my own family is in that same congregation, they manage to suck me back to some meetings from time to time.
I need to change jobs if possible and work far, far away.
suppose all of the books of the old testament had never been written.
there would be no account of adam and eve, no tower of babel, no account of noah's flood, no stories about abraham, isaac and jacob, no 12 tribes of israel, no prophets, no psalms, no proverbs, no solomon, no david, no job, no priesthood, and a host of other things.. then, suppose there were no accounts of the life of jesus and no epistles by the apostle paul as contained within the pages of the new testament.
there would be no stories about jesus, no miracles, no crucifixion, no resurrection, no salvation, no day of pentecost, no prophecies, no book of revelation, etc.
I think there's alot of truth to what hematitegirl wrote. Many arabs would say that Muhammed and the Koran curbed all the tribal bloodshed bringing the warring factions together under Islam. Here in North America, tribal warfare also wasn't uncommon for the natives. I think we inherently define ourselves by contrasting to some Other. Unfortunately, it also seems were're inclined to be hostile to that Other. The way I see it, holy books and religion just change the boundaries of whats perceived as Self and Other. The Crusades and Jihads would have been replaced by other kinds of tribal wars.

i remember "let god be true" - 'babylon the great has fallen'- and 'paradise restored - paradise regained' [the big orangish/pink book - hope i got the name right] - all 50's early 60's books.
I remember the assembly where the yellow covered "My Book of Bible Studies" was first released for our language (not english)...It was at a cool race track.
Our official family study started with that book.
The earliest book I can clearly remember covering at the bookstudy was the red "Live Forever on Paradise on Earth", mostly the pictures. So who's warped in that case, the illustrators or me?
But my Dad did also study the red Youth book with me as well as the blue "Worship" book.
