Noah the preacher
by TheListener inthis whole noah was a preacher of the last days things has me really irked.
i just don't see noah as a preacher, in the sense the society is using it, supported by the bible.. here are my thoughts, yes, they're not scholarly, but they represent how i feel.
feel free to comment in agreement or disagreement or possible sharing some more scholarly information.. genesis 6: 13, 18 and 7:1 clearly show that jehovah had already chosen noah and his family.

While it doesn't explicitly mention preaching, the Targum of Pseudo-Jonathan can allow for it since it has Yahweh saying he'll stave off the flood if people convert:
For, behold, I give you space of seven days; if they will be converted, it shall be forgiven them; but if they will not be converted, after a time of days yet seven, I will cause rain to come down upon the earth forty days and forty nights, and will destroy all bodies of man and of beast upon the earth. FREE HEALTH CARE
by Dansk inlittlerockguy's recent post about paying for his medical care in the usa got me thinking about something i've pondered over for a while before realising you lot here probably have the answer.
because of all the treatments i've been having it has made me mightily glad i live in the uk and the bill is paid for by the national health service.
therefore, any medical treatment i receive is free.

Canadians have almost all of their medical expenses paid for them by the provincial government, which in turn receives some money in transfer payments from the federal government.
Ontario (where I live) has recently brought in health premiums that we need to pay annually (to help a bit with our province's ballooning health costs). Their based on income level though and overall I think they're fair. Here's a fact sheet on it:

Its a toss up for me about what I'd do in your sitch. Go to another counsellor to reinforce the point, or keep going just to have fun with the preprogrammed drone.

Do JWs track down people who just leave?
by Gadget ini've just been reading an article online about mormons, where when they just leave the church there is a department that tries to track them down to try and get them to return to the faith.
has the jws ever done this?.

Usually the elders make bit more of an effort to find/encourage the vanished publisher around the time of the circuit overseer's visit. They just need to show like they've been caring for the flock. Like they really give a $h!t.
Although, if you were someone who was fairly well known in the city, people will talk, and some dubs, whether elders or not, will try to find out whats happening with you. From time to time, there are elders who also like enjoy playing "agent" and track down publishers to force the issue:are they in or out?

My Scan Results
by Dansk inas many of you will know, yesterday i received my scan results from the haematologist.
when i entered his office he was beaming and so i thought the news would be good.
the chemotherapy has shrunk the cancerous lymph nodes in my stomach substantially!!

Positivity rules! I know somebody in Niagara Falls who definitely needs to hear good news like this. He was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer and he's very dejected, but you are a great example of how attitude can make a real difference. Good thoughts towards you bud.

Reveal something "weird" or "unusual" about yourself
by JH inwhatever i drink from the fridge, i put it into the microwave for 10 seconds so that it won't be too cold to drink.. .
whenever i drink ice cold liquids, it irritates my tongue/mouth and often triggers a sore throat.
now you have additional proof that i'm weird .

Okay here's a really weird habit that I've had since I was a child. I like the feel of bedsheets just under my fingernails. But not any part of it, only its ends/edges. If the end is folded over, I don't bother.
