I thought that I would encourage the bright teens in the hall to get any postsecondary education they wanted and could manage to get. But I was thrown into a rather blue mood by a short conversation I had with a brother (he by the way got his Bachelor of Business) just before the meeting started. Long story short, I'm a loser and don't exemplify the benefits of a higher education. Rather my sitch conveniently plays into the Borg's arguments. To top it off, this same brother made this comment during the WT study: "High quality people excel in life even without an education. Low quality people don't, despite their education." I shouldn't have gone today.

However, I would encourage you to take up the practice of meditation sans any accompanying dogma.
There are CD's available that synchronise with your brain waves using binaural signals. These signals casue your brain to relax into deep meditative states that would take you years to acheive unaided. If you're interested, let me know via PM.
Hi Nate,
What I'd love to be able to try out, is Professor Micheal Persinger's setup that uses varying magnetic fields to induce mystical experiences and visions in just about anyone. I'd be curious to find out what I'd "see and hear".

Hi Nate,
Ever see that poster of the Pleiadian beamship over a tree with the words "I Want To Believe" under it? A small part of me resonates with that sentiment in regards to "God". If it weren't for that, I'd be a full blown atheist. I don't believe there's any evidence for a personal god. Most of our reality (if not all of it), can be explained without the supernatural. Even from a young age, I didn't really find myself moved to believe in anything supernatural [ edit: by that I mean like demons, angels, Big J ]. I guess alot of that has to do with growing up in a religiously divided household. At the same time though, I'm still drawn to the possibility of a god or a "greater reality". Rationally, I acknowledge our own limitations in perceiving material reality, and the degree of subjectivity involved just with that. We simply may not have the tools (and maybe never will) to detect "god" or any non-material aspect of "reality". Its enough of a question, to make me reserve judgment and move over to the edge of agnosticism. Beyond that, I only have this bit of a feeling, a desire. But thats enough to make me want to explore.

Of course the tetragrammatron wasn't in the New Testament because the tragrammatron came from the Kabbalah which was condemned by Jesus as the "traditions of the elders." Nor was it in the Greek Septuagint, which oldest translation we have of the Old Testament.
Well, it depends on the particular copy you have in your hands. Looking at the Sinaiticus, Vaticanus, or Alexandrinus and I'd have to agree with you that you'd just have kyri-os or the-os. But Origen when documenting the many variations of the LXX in his Hexapla had multiple entries (kyrios as well as the Tetragrammaton) meaning that he had some copies with it. And for the record, he wasn't Jewish. As well I suggest you look up LXXP.Fouad Inv.266. The fragments of Deuteronomy have the Tetragrammaton in several instances.(1st century BC I believe). Also check up on some LXX fragments from the cave at Nahal Hever. Those are about middle to end of the 1st century AD methinks.

Vatican acknowledges evolution theory

evolution in the bible, says vaticanfrom: by martin penner.
november 07, 2005 the vatican has issued a stout defence of charles darwin, voicing strong criticism of christian fundamentalists who reject his theory of evolution and interpret the biblical account of creation literally.

Well even about 15 years back or so, we were taught at catholic school that the genesis creation story was to be understood symbolically. The Church has held that position at least since 1950 or so after an encyclical by Pope Pius (some roman numeral I can't remember). Mind you, in it he was very cautious about evolution (didn't dismiss it outright though - the attempt at least at objectivity is sorely lacking among the GB). The Pope then said that whatever is eventually learned about the manner in which the human body has come about, it is only God who creates the human soul.

bad day, bad year
by Cygnus inspent all day today downtown being shuffled around to this building and that trying to get temporary assistance.. what a nightmare.. everyone tells you something different.
and it's so humiliating.
i didn't work my ass off for 17 years for this.. it's just very hard to think of losing my fiance, my house, my job, my cars, the use of my hands, electricity and heat, all in 8 months.

You're a real trooper Cygnus. I'm about your age and have some joint flair ups that come and go. But they're nothing compared to the Job-like stuff you face. I'm rooting for you! Here's to a better tomorrow.

Did you as a brother, do less to avoid responsibilities?
by truthseeker ini have no choice but to remain active in the "troof" - for family and friends.
one day i will leave, but that day has not yet come.. i am not happy about leading a "double life" but i really have no say - for the peace of the family and my own sanity i must maintain the status quo.
it's difficult coexisting - i go to some meetings, but i spend more time here learning about the society.

A few years back, they made me a MS despite my below average field service reports and virtually no commenting at the meetings. I was almost always there though and always did my assignments as best I could. So I'd say: besides the low service hours, make your attendance more sporadic and peg it on depression. If you're in the school, deliberately cancel on some assignments (preferably on short notice). Oh and grow a real cool goatee if it looks good on you. (I don't because I'd personally look dorky with one.) In your comments, try to bring up different viewpoints without being overtly opposed to their own. The elders will see you're not completely toting the party line and will realize they can't use you for other parts.
The last point is tricky and you get few opportunities but take Jehu for example. He was supposedly so zealous for true worship and he's like Jesus and the anointed...yadda yadda...Well lets not overlook that once he was king, he kept the calf worship in Northern Isreal. What happened to no rivalry to Jehovah? Their own Insight book says that he may have had ulterior motives for all those enthusiastic eliminations. Leave the people to hopefully make connections themselves about how their own Anointed lapse in some things.
