The WTS shouldn't be fabricating historical, scientific, or you-just-name-it support. They should just candidly say they have nada. The WTS is deliberately dishonest about this matter and its not the only time. Their book Life:How did it get here by Evolution or Creation? is rife with misquotes, and they misrepresent historical evidence in the "Appendix to Chpt.14" of Let Your Kingdom Come to prop up their baseless 607BCE date. Its a pattern, a tactic. And they expect me to believe they're earnestly looking for Truth and acting as its messengers?

Trinity pamphlet, - a response & research
by Kristofer ini'm not sure how much of this is old news to y'all but after being handed this literature, i was trying to find evidence on the ante-nicene fathers it quotes in this pamphlet.
i figured, if early christians didn't believe in it, then, to me anyway, the doctrine held some water.
i stumbled upon this essay by eric francke which is a direct response to the pamphlet and very well written in my opinion.

Great job QUOTES!
Any listener who didn't know about the lawsuit, now has a crystal clear picture of how the Organization acts when embarrassed. And as Drew said they should "grow up."
I loved how you had those series of questions that a person should ask themselves when considering ANY group, even if its just a group of old ladies into knitting. As always, you had an earnest and objective tone. You're very comfortable to listen to and I'm looking forward to you being on yet again (if its something you see yourself doing again).
Regards

Religion Quiz, your results?
by daystar in.. you scored as agnosticism.
you are an agnostic.
though it is generally taken that agnostics neither believe nor disbelieve in god, it is possible to be a theist or atheist in addition to an agnostic.

Do ya think my recently being swindled on Ebay has anything to do with the pronounced skepticism? I mean who can you trust?....Apparently I'm not over it. I don't know how Satanism scored so highly.....Its not like I called on the evil dark forces to get that stinkin' cheatin' hump...well not that overtly anyway
You scored as agnosticism. You are an agnostic. Though it is generally taken that agnostics neither believe nor disbelieve in God, it is possible to be a theist or atheist in addition to an agnostic. Agnostics don't believe it is possible to prove the existence of God (nor lack thereof). Agnosticism is a philosophy that God's existence cannot be proven. Some say it is possible to be agnostic and follow a religion; however, one cannot be a devout believer if he or she does not truly believe.

What would Muhammad do?
by Rabbit ini really enjoyed reading a moderate muslim opinion.
i mean we've heard they are there and all...they are just too quiet.
they cannot be heard over the banshee screaming, burning and murderous radical fundamentalist brand of islam.. i hope to see more and more muslims who will be willing to express publically their dismay & embarrassment over what's being done in their religions name.. what do y'all think ?.

Greendawn's comment may sound overly cynical, but I don't think we can overlook a piece of history that sides with it. That article (very moderately minded IMHO) mentioned how Muhammad had made a truce and how he even deferred on the issued of his title for the sake of peace. But that same article failed to mention how at a later point in time (when Muhammad and his followers were stronger), he broke the treaty and surprise attacked the other party with a sizable number of them being killed. Yasser Arafat alluded to this event as being his overall tactic whiole carrying on negotiations with the Isrealis.

This question is not meant to be..well..weird but....
by stillAwitness indo any of you parents and/or sons and daughters feel weird about sleeping in the same bed as your parent and/or son or daughter?
is there a certain age that this behavior becomes inappropriate?
i ask this because the c.o and his wife that are staying with us this week: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/9/107349/1.ashx brought along their 18 year old daugher.

Well being in bed with BOTH parents is weird after the tweens IMHO (being Italian Canadian). When my family stayed overnight in a hotel/motel we'd all be in one room with two large beds. My Dad and me in one and my sister and my mom in another. It always was that way since we were kids and up to our late teens. It sucked because my Dad was always flatulating and he ALWAYS ended up sleeping on his side aiming in my direction. Just as annoying and frustrating was having to wear a complete set of pyjamas.

This incarnation of BSG is much better than the original. What I thought really stunk were the old tv episodes of BSG where they actually reached Earth. Since I was a child I only remember bits and pieces of them vaguely but none of it fondly.

Islam and the bible
by troucul ina question for muslims and islamic apologists:.
if muslims believe that jewish and christian prophets were legitimate (although minor in comparison to mohamed) then what do muslims say in response to revelation 22: 19?.
"anyone adding or taking away...will suffer plagues...".

Its also interesting how the antipathy to the christian orthodoxy of that time may have influenced the Quran's choice of christian traditions to incorporate into its version of history. i.e."heretical" ones. Like Mary being fed by an angel as a little child (from the protovangelium of James, IIRC). Or that Jesus wasn't actually the one who was crucified. The Quran says it was Judas, while a gnostic tradition was that it was Joseph of Arimathea.

Government acknowledgement of Alien visitation may trigger "End Times"
by Franz ini claim that our forefathers received visits from the universe in the remote past, even though i do not yet know who these extra-terrestrial intelligences were or from which planet they came.
i nevertheless proclaim that these "strangers" annihilated part of mankind existing at the time and produced a new, perhaps the first, homo sapiens.
as was illustrated in the hollywood films contact, and close encounters of the third kind, erich von daniken's hypothesis took america by storm in the 1960's with the proposition that mankind was possibly the offspring of an ancient, perhaps ongoing, extra-terrestrial experiment.

Vallee nicely showed the parallels between alleged alien encounters/abductions and the stories of incubi/succubi of the past. But I wouldn't overlook the fact that he also tied it in with tales of Magonia, the fairies and other wee people. Speaking of which, I personally haven't been let in on any plans for an upcoming invasion....then again I'm always left out of the loop.

I'll say it again. Your site raised the bar for all websites about jw teachings. I really think it is the catalyst for a truly effective counter-campaign. I was tired of the bitterness you could feel coming off of some sites. I've been just as guilty of spewing vitriol here on JWD (especially early on). But your site was brilliant in that you were completely unbiased and intellectually honest. That honesty amplified the power of the content.

But can one abandon the WTS and still keep their faith? I think that is the only way you can keep your faith.
