In other words, how many people would have to be stung by this entity before its existence could be considered "known"? Or would you have us believe that there is no point at which someone who experiences this entity can state they "know" what they experienced first-hand, simply because the entity was never subjected to laboratory testing?
I'm certainly open to the possibility that there are other aspects to reality which science cannot currently measure and analyze. However by way of analogy: How many people need to say they were abducted by aliens and probed (giving very similar accounts) before we can say that the Greys are real? I don't mean to ridicule any mystical experiences with the comparison. To mystics or abductees, these are real "entities". We all construct our realities from the external information being taken in along with significant processing. As has been shown, there are subjective elements to how that information is processed and constructed within our minds. Different factors can affect the resulting construct, with the internal being nearly impossible to distinguish from the external...to those experiencers. added point: Narkissos At first thought, I was going to say that we can and form perceptions of "life" just from experience, without the need for preconceived notions. But on more thought I see your point. I recalled a psychology class where it was mentioned that we, even from very early ages are apparently hardwired to categorize and sort objects as "alive" "inanimate" etc. Assuming an evolutionary development of mind, with interaction to our earthly environment, those categories will in fact dictate or give us preconcieved notions of "life". We'd have to then step into our imaginations and use metaphor to even conceive of "life" (let alone explain it) thats different from that on terrafirma.
AuldSould Because I do sympathize with your position, I don't think we should once and for all dismiss the possibility of some experiences having a basis in external reality. We could miss out on alot. Until I experience it myself though, and even then, I'd have to wonder if its solely within. -

Which brings me back to a question that I've asked a couple of times over the last few weeks, with no takers: what is more important, the [subjective] realisation or the actuality of reality?
I refereth thee to the authority of the sacred writ (in so much as I just wrote it in my city which is in actuality named after a saint):
"22 You behold that [his] realisation worked along with the actuality of reality and by this actuality [his] realisation was perfected......24 You see that a man is to declare knowledge by actuality of reality and not by realisation alone." YETI 2:22,24
In all seriousness, I do agree with PP on the importance of cross checking our perceptions with what we hold to be the concrete objective reality....and I'm "sure" () that the scientific method is the best approach.

I'm swayed by the evidence showing a substantial link between Archaic Homo Sapiens and Homo Erectus. There are several recovered fossils showing a number of features intermediate to both of those hominids. Take a look at a good picture of the skull of the young H. Erectus called the Turkana Boy and see just how similar it is to modern people...yet noticabley apish.

Do you believe that Demons really Exist.
by MARTINLEYSHON inthe reason why i have asked such is question is that i served as a congregation elder for 12 years.
i served as the presiding overseer for 10 years, and as chairman and media spokes-person for a particular region.
during my time within the organisation that being almost 30 years, i have concluded that there is, as far as my own experience is concerned grave doubt in my mind as to the existence of the devil and his demonic hoard.

Well if you're no longer or never really have been traumatized by it, and you have a way to end it that works for you, then I'm happy for you. More than anything, I mentioned that naturalist explanation because it can be a relief to hear, thereby lowering anxiety.I respect your take on the matter, so I offer it up to anyone else whose inclined to it.
That brother,by the way, ended up punching holes in all the walls of the house and ripping up floor boards (they recently moved in to the place). He said he found alot of items having to do with spiritism and ended up selling the place. A kiddie story compared to the stuff the Monsignor related to us in elementary religion class. See my being warped isn't totally my fault.

Thanx! So hospitable. Although I don't think it'll be much of a blessing for you since I'm no angel.

Somebody in a congregation I attended said he was attacked and it too was in bed. He was on his back though and he felt strong pressure on his chest. He said he had to force himself up out of bed to breathe. No one else in the family experienced this which strongly points to it being an internal condition.
Look up the symptoms of sleep paralysis and some of the anomalies experienced with temporal lobe epilepsy. While I have never had the classic "Old Hag" experience, I have had the rather cool sensation of feeling like I was floating over my bed all the while with my eyes wide open and seeing that I was still firmly in bed.

Reexamine Website
by inbyathread inis there any news?
or is it just down for advanced maintenance.
-
Midget-Sasquatch
Well I can't get the download page (with stuff like the KMs). But everything from QUOTES' old website is fully accessible.
So its probably only some maintenance, and the updated site will be even better.

Sasquatch lives in my neighborhood. We discovered this last summer at the annual neighborhood barbecue and pool party. He took his shirt off to get in the pool and people ran screaming, gathering up the children, fleeing in panic. We were all traumatized.
Well in that stranger's defense, electrolysis is way too expensive, and waxing is torture!
We are not inviting him this year.
Could I be allowed to come? I'm rather puny so I'm more of a fuzzy caterpillar than a BigFoot.
Back to the topic (sorta):
I've never had a demon experience. Especially not any hot steamy ones with succubi. Damn it! Maybe I should reconsider that electrolysis thingy.

Can someone post the May KM?
by TheListener inanyone with the may 2006 us km, can you please post scans of it or get it to reexamine.org?
-
Midget-Sasquatch
Well this is from the Canadian May KM. I only put up the service schedule because posting all of it is harmful to people's mental well being.
And I also have to work within the restraints of this site's host imaging parameters.

Are you tired of the whole atheist/believer debate?
by nicolaou ini'm usually the first one to stir this particular pot but it get's so frustrating to keep coming up against the same old arguments.
the phrase "banging your head against a brick wall" springs to mind.
how many times have believers argued for a designer but refused to answer the obvious question of the designer's origin?.

Of course that's not evidence but for me only .
I agree with you there. I'm partial to the idea that if "God" wanted to prove to us that He/She/It is really around, then those sorts of experiences could be used with anyone who's open to it. Personal confirmation sure beats following non-prophets.
