  Does The GB Assign Someone To Make Believe They Are An XJW On This Forum?

  i think from time to time we have posters here that may be assigned by the gb to speak xjw speak and try to discourage posters from attacking the organization, or to just give up our internet fight to expose them, to just give up our efforts and forget about the wt.

  if they did this they would have to keep close tabs on whoever they assign because they know that there is a great possiblity they may turn on them.

  or perhaps they would trust no one except themselves and so you might even have a member of the gb actually posting in disguise.

  They'd be foolish not to have these boads monitored for hurtful leaks, and use the info to make their damage control more effective. So, I think there are registered members here that scan for that kind of intel, but are mostly non-posting and lurking

  Maybe you're right and they don't have anyone on here. I certainly don't think they're here to id all people that may still be in the organization.

  My point is that it makes alot of sense that to persuade or dissuade active dubs, you need to know the opposing points well enough to prepare a response. Scanning here is a way to keep the finger on the pulse.

  If what you doubt is that they may have a couple of registered peeps....sure that may be a bit of a stretch, but then again, registration is what would allow access to most threads. So its not that far-fetched. Welcome to the board! (I'm not so paranoid as to not say hi at least).

  But there are also so many pathetic jw elders who have nothing better to do with their time, than to play lame-assed "Agent Double-O-1914", on their overly zealous jihad against apostates. They do it on their own for the cause and for the brownie points with the CO. One almost had me fingered on here, even though I was a nobody. They need the purging to happen (regardless of who we are) to confirm their delusion of it being so very near to the end.

  Gollum from this board has regaled me with stories of synchronizing sprite drawing with refresh scans when writing for the NES. That is possible only when you know with absolute certainty what hardware will be executing your code.

  Thats exactly one of the factors why AmigaOS had such a small footprint. And coders made some fantastic demos by banging the hardware. But being so tightly tied in with the hardware, spelt doom for the OS. If it used HALs though, then it would have been feasible to port the OS to say the PC. (Thats what some hobbyists are trying to do with AROS. An AmigaOS clone that has HALs and will run on all sorts of processors once compiled.)

  I have to hand it to Windows and the unixes since they have that versatility. Funnily enough even MacOS 7.5 was software agnostic enough to be made to run on Amiga hardware.

  When I was at my most intense stage of indoctrination, Microsoft only had win95 out for a couple of years and I still saw alot of win3.1. But even then price/performance for the pc platform was better than Amiga. Oh god...I don't want to even admit how much I spent on that Picasso II gfx card for my A3000.

  Well I have to say Win2000 and Win XP are very nice OSes, and [the following is spoken in a spacey, monotone with odd pausing] " I am...very happy...with...my wintel machine...now."

  Tetrapod - that RC acronym was ambiguous...I was thinking Roman Catholics .

  I liked FreeBSD, and Ret Hat 6, but I couldn't get a tv tuner card, or my blasted internal modem, to work with either of them properly.

  No Apologies - The A1200 eh? I'm envious. You got to play all those cooler AGA games. I also drooled after the CD32 (way ahead of its time too), but ended up replacing my A500 with a stock used A3000.

  Thanks guys for letting me know there's a few former Amigans here too!

  For all my boasting about not really ever buying into either the JWs
  or the RCs as I grew up, I must confess that I was beguiled by
  a different kind of cult. I understand you all because...
  You see, I was once an avid Amiga computer owner.

  The Boing Ball demo can still play vividly in my mind.
  Its hardware was excellent for gaming as well as video editing on
  NTSC/PAL. Its OS (compared to dos and win 3.1) was far more efficient,
  responsive, and lent itself well to tinkering. Wintel was an inferior
  and a monopolizing bully to us.

  Sorry.......Must...stop...this cultish urge to proselytize.

  The upgrade costs for Amiga were so outrageously priced that they even
  made Mac users flinch and call us fanatics. But we could emulate the MAC
  and even run their apps faster than they could on their own hardware (once)!
  So who'd listen to those ridiculers with their ridicule?!

  But I eventually became disillusioned and left Amiga. I've always keenly
  followed the soap opera though, and try out the latest WINUAE and AROS
  programs for nostalgia. I imbibed deeply on the springs of Amiga and it cost me dearly. I still enjoy the idea of its comeback.

  There you have it. I may even one day admit to myself and in public, the (very few) things I DID believe from the JWs and RCs.

  the "little apocalypse" of the synoptic gospels include a prophetic reference to something that would provoke the people in judea "to flee to the mountains".

  this reference varies considerably between the three versions: .

  You had some interesting ideas there. I'm wondering if some of the early jewish-christians viewed their time period as being analogous to that of the Maccabean Revolt. With Rome instead of Greece, Jesus instead of Onias (did I get that high priest's name right?) etc. I don't know of any evidence supporting that, but at least the idea of history repeating itself wasn't foreign to them.

  i had fully intentioned to disassociate myself from the platform today, but i decided that if i wanted a chance to save my marriage that i'd better tell my wife.

  Congrats!

  The Borg and its puppets have a way of playing off of negative feelings and self-image ( "we're not whole-souled to Jehovah" ) to their own advantage. They're the manipulators/liars and they stay that way. You're one of the most genuine/pensive (ex)elders I've ever come across Matt. I'm really happy for you.

  I'm sure you can face whatever can come your way. The coping mechanisms you must have had to keep the outer world you always knew stable (esp. ties and relationships), as you grew and changed within, is assurance of that. I look forward to one day having the inner strength you showed and reach for that same true freedom.

  our kids love the simpsons and futurama but one episode of futurama is just soooo sad, i can barely watch it - it brings a lump to my throat every time!.

  the one with seymour, fry's fossilised dog that the professor is going to bring back to life.

  he decides not to do it because he thinks seymour lived a full life after he got frozen and will have forgotten him.. instead, the dog sat waiting for him all those years ... .

  I was nearly an adult when I saw it, but the very first episode of Disney's Gargoyles. The leader Goliath was discriminated and even betrayed by the humans he swore to protect, and it was sad to see how he believed all his gargoyle friends were gone.

  His scream ( " I've been denied everything - even my revenge! " ) was overly dramatic but still struck a note with me.
