I think that there was at least one group of early christians (the jewish-chrisitians, ebionites, nazoreans), that believed Jesus was the Messiah, but a human like the rest of us. I don't think it was likely that they worshipped him since he wasn't taken as divine in any way. But they revered his teachings about God and the correct understanding of God's Law that they said he imparted to them.
