so you're from w.a., eh?.
we ought to tell these northern hemisophere people that margaret river in wa produces the world's best shiraz.
shhhhh, it's a secret!.
Yes welcome Nat-Oz. I'm sure you'll find a lot of support and insight through-out these pages as I have. I've found there are many very knowledgeable posters here that are very willing to answer any and all questions, and provide, what is sometimes much needed, support.
I had a bottle of Austrailian Shiraz the other day (not all at once mind you). Can't think of who made it though. Was good though, that I do remember!
"and the truth will set you free" (john 8:32)
so what does freedom mean to you?
finish off this sentence "freedom is..................."
Streaking!
Really though, does any of us know what true freedom is? I was watching "Da Ali G Show" the other day (very funny skits) and they went to Alabama. Just some background on the show for those who don't know it, this one guy takes on different characters, and goes and interviews people. Sometimes he interviews quite famous people, sometimes just the average Joe. So this one character was an Austrian who was gay. He went to what seemed like a gun rally and interviewed an individual there and it went something like this:
Character: So what are you doing today?
Interviewee: I'm fighting for the freedom of Americans.
C: That's a great cause. So what do you think freedom is, in Austria we feel that freedom is being able to walk down the street holding my boyfriends hand and noone looks at you like it is anything wrong. Is that the freedom you're fighting for?
I: Well, I don't know about your holding hands with another man. I guess what you do in the privacy of your own home is fine as long as you don't try to recruit my kids because then I'd have a problem and you'd have me to deal with.
It went somewhat downhill from there. I guess the point of that interview is somewhat clear though. We will only be truely free when everyone accepts people for who they are, and not what (or who) they do, look like, or for their opinions. As long as there are sterotypes, hatred and racism we are all held captive, not free.
Another angle is this. You buy a piece of land downtown Anytown. In a truely free society, you are free to do what you wish with that land. But alas, you must buy a building permit and get permission from city hall. It's your land. You paid for it. Is that freedom?
Sorry. Am I going off on a tangent? I'll feel free to stop now!

when was it that the gb decided witnesses could not smoke?.
thanks in advance,.
bryan
Jesus might have forgiven smokers for their "filthy habits" since it is not what goes into a man's mouth that defiles him; but, what comes out.I think the smoking policy is just legalism on the part of the "faithful and discreet Slave". It is a means of wielding power.
If it really is a policy that is put in place to promote human health, why hasn't there been a ban on Big Mac's or just fast food in general. In the past few years you hear more about problems with obesity then you do about smoking. Think it will be just a matter of time?

.
anyone else get pissed off at coffee makers with "auto shut-off" timers!
kwin
Mmmm, Tim Hortons. Coffee's good, but here the pastries have gone to ... well, they're awful. They get half cooked in Oakville, ON, then get trucked here to NS to be cooked the rest of the way. No thanks.

just beautiful.
blood is every bit as vivid on a good digital camera as it was on kodachrome.
i was going to say something smartass, like "guess which of these four kids goes on to hate america enough to do violence" but then i read the text, and that kid died too.
The other day Kim Jong-Il was asked why he didn't respond to the fact that there was a massive explosion in his country (N. Korea), his response was "All foreign journalists are liars." A better response then we'll get from anyone regarding these sick acts.

well it looks like my friend's dfing is getting announced tonight.
she decided not to try an appeal because she really doesn't want the stress of telling the story all over again, and she's heard horror stories from one of her friends that was dfed about 12 elder appeal committies and whatnot.
i've really been trying to help her out and let her know that it's going to be incredibly difficult but that i'll be there for her even though i'm baptized (when i was 11 years old..great decision...) pretty much all of her friends will be cut off from her, except for the few "worldly" friends she has, but it doesn't sound like her mom will really allow any association with them either.... so we'll see how the weeks ahead turn out... i also have a meeting thursday night with two elders in my hall.
Hi Red, good for you for sticking by your friend. I was DF'd at 17 and I only got through the isolation with the support from people like you, who don't except the word of men, and who refuse to shun those you care about. It's especially important when the DF'd party is young and has been tought to, and not permitted to "seek friends in the world". Thats BS! Shunning an already isolated person. It's sick! If more people were like you in the org. the midevil practice of DF'ing would have stopped years ago. If I had a hat, I'd take it off to you!

after viewing this vid, who you think was wrong?
never mind the hidden cam, let's just pretend for the sake of the arguement, if you were there when this came down and you saw it in person, how would you perceive all this?
Typical inexperenced rent-a-cop response. He over-reacted, and got himself into a position where he couldn't back down without taking action especially once the kids were on public property. Skateboarding is not a crime.
