My God does miracles! Evidence scientist can't deny....research it....
You're the one trying to save us! How about you show us this evidence that un-biased scientists can't deny. I believe that YOU would have the burden of proof.

if i thought there was a magnificent spiritual being who cared for me, i would pray every day, not just if i felt low and had no one else to talk to.
we don't spend time with friends only when the going gets tough.
we share the good as well as the bad.

ok ex-nj-jw spend the rest of your life miserable then its your choice! I was never baptised as a jw but i studied for 17 years. I wanted to learn about God but instead I know know how crafty the Devil is. But its ok ill keep serving God! He has us in places for reasons.
and you can continue to live your life delusioned and in ignorant bliss serving a fairy tale. how dare you tell someone who you don't know they are miserable because they don't share the same belief as you.

Yeah, perhaps people see it more as a parent/child relationship than a friendship, Kwin. While kids can grow up to have friendships with their parents, that's usually after they get to a more equal level. While children still, friendship comes more from friends than parents. There's still a barrier from true friendship with parents when you're a child.
Yes, but there will always be more of a barrier with a god, as a god will never respond. And if he/she does ... you'll be locked up for being nuts.

As a parent, I take joy in watching my kids faces as they're doing something that excites them. I don't need them to tell me that they've enjoyed an experience, I know they did. Do you really think that an all-knowing god would be any different?
Other then that, I'd get bored of one-sided conversations pretty quickly. As humans we need stimulation and two-way communication. That's how we got to where we are as a global society, not by saying words in our head to someone who may (or may not be) listening.

dear journel, .
A very interesting journal. It seems in a fairly short period of time she gained a fair bit of self-confidence and you could see that she was getting more and more, gradually, but was still on the low end.
Thanks for sharing it!

when i was almost seven, we moved from the gulf coast town of mobile, alabama to morgan city, louisiana.
on brashear avenue, which was also highway 90, the gulf coast hwy, going towards the now old atchafalaya bridge, there was a shrimp boat in the middle of the road called the spirit of morgan city.
at christmas time they decorated it with a santa on the front and his reindeer out front, as if it were santa's mode of transportation through cajun country, rather than his regular sleigh.
Last time I was there I posed for a topless shot just above the falls for a laugh. All these tourists milling past. LOL!
Make sure you let us know next time you're in town!

Due to the lady that lived here (not original house), the British were able to defeat the US in the War of 1812. This was a 2 minute walk from where I was born. The above link gives her story.

just wondering is any of you have found breaking into the internet discussion board arena difficult.
.
.
even though I've been here for over three years, don't really feel like a "local/native"
I feel the same way.

i don't get presents very often... no birthday presents or christmas presents, you know the deal.
so i really don't know how to act.. well my older sister just gave me a painting.
no occasion.
I'd start with a thank you, then maybe hang it on the wall.

if you're a less-than-zealous jw still in for family, what do you do if/when you actually get roped into knocking on a door?.
now what many probably do, and i've done quite a bit, is the good old: "hi we're here with the latest wt, would you like to read it?
i have abandoned this presentation for a couple of reasons.. 1. every now & then someone will actually feel sorry for us and accept the mag.
And then it would just suck dragging a dead body around.
But that would make for a great part at the assembly!

i have recently talked with other members on jwd about the first time they went to a concert.
it was interesting the different choices of artists, and the age we were when we finally went to one.. my first was after i got my driver's license, so i was 16 years old.
i went to see a concert with black oak arkansas, foghat, and montrose (when sammy hagar was just a pup).
My first concert was Our Lady Peace, in 1995 in a small club, maybe about 1500 people, the club wasn't sold out. Next time they came to the area they played Maple Leaf Gardens a couple years later and sold out in a couple hours.
I can't think of the last concert I went to. Obviously I don't go to enough.
Edited to add ... wait, I saw Trooper in the spring last year. "Raise a little hell!" A couple nights later they sang at the Stanley Cup Finals in Ottawa.
