The next day Mookie was eagerly awaiting Cookie's visit. He wasn't so sure what he would say to her or how he could convince her he was interested in the religion and not her. He nervously fumbled thoughts around in his mind. He decided he would pretend to be totally interested until he could come up with a better plan. He started reading the book she had given him, so as to be well prepared. Mookie tried to understand the information he was reading but couldn't help thinking, "wow, a lot of this seems like.........

LET US TRY AN EXQUISITE CORPSE
by Terry inamong surrealist techniques exploiting the mystique of accident was a kind of collective collage of words or images called the cadavre exquis (exquisite corpse).
based on an old parlor game, it was played by several people, each of whom would write a phrase on a sheet of paper, fold the paper to conceal part of it, and pass it on to the next player for his contribution.
i will begin the story.

The END is NIGH??
by Samdownunder ini watched a fascinating documentary tonight called "the corporation".
it exposed the development of big business in modern day and their greed and corruption of the world.
many of the scholars and experts conceded that by the year 2025, we truly would not have any water left to drink and they discussed the ruination of the rainforests and other important resources as well.

I watched a fascinating documentary tonight called "The Corporation". It exposed the development of big business in modern day and their greed and corruption of the world. Many of the scholars and experts conceded that by the year 2025, we truly would not have any water left to drink and they discussed the ruination of the rainforests and other important resources as well. They left one to believe that all religious predictions aside, we truly were living in the last days in which mankind can sustain himself off of his natural resources. Do you agree with this? I find a lot of intellectual people on this board who can pick apart the doomsday prophesying of the bible, but what about the reality of what resources are left for us to live off of in the next 50 years. I know many of you will say, who cares, live each day one at a time, but surely you must consider the facts. Im not saying I believe one way or another, because I am undecided. I would like to see what facts others may present or opinions that you hold on this matter. I know mankind has always believed his generation to be the last, but our earth has not always been so polluted and overrun by greedy corporations that are stripping us of all the natural resources left. Surely some of you who spent years and decades prophesying the end must have had reasons for believing that to be true. JW teachings aside, have you too, noticed that things are getting worse, or do they seem the same? As I am in my early twenties, I dont have the history to have witnessed these things and would be interested in your comments. I know for many of you it was the sadness you saw in the state of the world that brought you into the truth. What is different for you now to think these days are not the last, or are? Thanks for your help........

So I thought you might have some fun ideas about what to do with the old mags, as perfectly good trees had to be cut down to make them, what a waste.

DAUGHTER ATTEMPTS SUICIDE TODAY, MOTHER ACCUSES ME OF . . .
by Corvin intoday i drove my daughter nancy to shool after the incident last night to ensure that she was ok. she never showed up to her first class, but took a bunch of pills she pilfered from her mother's bathroom a couple of weeks ago.
she was discovered, and i was called.
i took her to the hospital right away.

Corvin,
My heart goes out to you and all you are going through. Its so unfair that a child must suffer because a parent feels the need to gain power by forcing THEIR beliefs on them. You are such an amazing father and your daughters are so lucky to have you. Please be strong and know you have the support of so many here. Im sure you are telling your daughter positive things and showering her with love. Tell here also that these things will pass and when she is an adult not too far away she will be stronger for it. I once was in her shoes and all my thoughts are with her and you. Many thoughts and best wishes

Divorce rate of JW's less than the rest of the "world"??
by Samdownunder inthroughout my teen years when my doubt was high and my hesitancy to commit was even higher, my father always told me that no life in the world could ever compare to life in the "truth".
he said the peace and joy jw's experience in their lives is better than anything i could find out there in "satans world".
he also constantly threw out the statistic( as he is a bullshit artist) that witness marriages have less than a 5% divorce rate, as compared to 50% outside the "truth".

He also constantly threw out the statistic( as he is a bullshit artist) that witness marriages have less than a 5% divorce rate, as compared to 50% outside the "truth". He attributed this to their equal yoking and constant strengthening from Jehovah for being his people and because they upheld bible principles so well and hence had very few problems. Ive been out for many years now, but not because I knew all of the things Ive learned here but rather because I never felt good enough to be one of God's "chosen"people. Don't worry I no longer feel that way, but now can see all the relationships Ive ruined with great men in my life because of that thought from my father. I was just wondering if any of you know the divorce rate, or can tell me from personal experience about divorce occurence in your hall, your own divorce, or how wonderful your marriages were or weren't. Also if you were married to a non-dub and then to a dub, what were the differences in the health of your relationship?

What is your passion in life?
by Samdownunder ini was just thinking about how so many were so caught up in the dubs for so many years, and at the time we probably would have all felt that the truth and spreading the good news was our passion.
so what is your passion now?
what makes you tick and excites your senses and captivates you?
-
Samdownunder
Thanks everyone for sharing your passions. Its very heart warming to know that interests once repressed for fear of being "worldy" are now again allowed to grow and blossom.

I love seeing new lands, experiencing new ways of life and expanding my horizens. Share you passion, even if its knitting or drinking beer.

How does Jehovah's direction differ from pulling it out of your *ss
by Terry inthe doctor examines the patient and prescribes a powerfully effective medicine.. the pharmacist dispenses the medication according to the prescription.. the patient takes the medicine according to the label directions.. the above is a three step process.
easy analogy to understand.
we've all had to visit the doctor and get medicine at one time or another.. now i want to examine this process and use the analogy as a model for understanding how the governing body dispenses "truth" from jehovah to the congregations of jehovah's witnesses as his mouthpiece and "prophetic" voice.. in the 1950's doctors began prescribing a medicine called thalidomide.
