I think that the Governing Body believes they are right in anything they do for three reasons:
1. They are the Faithful and Discreet Slave, therefore are ordained by God so will not err.
2. They are a bunch of yes men, otherwise they would not have moved up the ranks to this position.
3. Groupthink.
Groupthink: a pattern of thought characterized by self-deception, forced manufacture of consent, and conformity to group values and ethics (Merriam Webster)
Irving Janis devised eight symptoms that are indicative of groupthink (1977)
1. A feeling of invulnerability creates excessive optimism and encourages risk taking.
2. Discounting warnings that might challenge assumptions.
3. An unquestioned belief in the group’s morality, causing members to ignore the consequences of their actions.
4. Stereotyped views of enemy leaders.
5. Pressure to conform against members of the group who disagree.
6. Shutting down of ideas that deviate from the apparent group consensus.
7. An illusion of unanimity with regards to going along with the group.
8. Mindguards — self-appointed members who shield the group from dissenting opinions.
(Janis, Irving L. Victims of Groupthink. Boston. Houghton Mifflin Company, 1972, page 9)
How many of these eight symptoms apply to the GB??????????????

i have heard on this discussion board numerous rules that apply to upcoming a$$emblies.
some are designed to stop people from meeting the opposite sex; others, to make sure everyone is always ready to recruit new members into the scam.
i heard that some km inserts have been urging those whose congregation has cleaning assignments to sit in the section that they are assigned to clean.
Quote: I would love to see a couple of those OLD FARTS IN NEW YORK PUT ON SOME PANTYHOSE AND HEELS and tend to a couple of toddlers all day at an assembly. Remember Greenlees and Chitty; This has probably already been done, and most likely still is. I just do not want to see the video! JK
it's been a while since this topic has been brought up.

so i began to research ... and here i am.
The 2 big ones for me were: 1. That the Pay Attention book exists, and that the rank and file cannot see it, even when decisions are made from it that affect you. 2. The UN scandal! JK
i love inspirational quotes.
i read through them from time to time and i always feel better after sharing the thoughts of yesterday and today's greatest minds.
"if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with success unexpected in common hours.
“Distrust all in whom the impulse to punish is powerful!” Friedrich Nietzsche
“A lie told often enough becomes the truth.” Lenin
“Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, just as it is the spirit of a spiritless situation. It is the opium of the people.” Karl Marx
”Knowledge is power.” Sir Francis Bacon
“Communism doesn't work because people like to own stuff.” Frank Zappa
“When the Lie gets so big, it can’t be the Truth anymore.” Me

New Boy, WOW! Just a month or two ago, AK Jeff and I got together at a pub to talk about old times, and the topic came up about Jimmy Olsen and his family. You confirmed his thoughts that Jimmy might have jumped. The official line around the circuit was that he accidentally was killed at Beth hell. What a waste - and then the folks were still willing to sacrifice another child to the Borg. Keep the stories coming! JK
this is my first valentines day (at least celebrating it with someone).
sooooooo any good ideas so it can be a night to remember (on a budget!!).
not even sure what to get him..
It isn't that difficult to buy something for Valentine's day for a guy! Anything that he likes, sports, candy, racing etc. will make him happy. If your relationship is further advanced, anything sensual (Victoria's Secret for YOU) would be appreciated. Don't spend a fortune, it isn't necessary! It is the thought that counts.
