  Who is Dr. Rodney Stark?

  i know that i may be late to the party alittle bit with this, however crusing jw-media.org for j.r. brown's press release that bill has on his site, i ran across two realvideo links to j.r. brown and dr. rodney stark, professor of sociology.. i would like to know more about dr. rodney stark, professor of sociology.

  I have been searching the net for some info about him. So far I come up with the following:

  RODNEY STARK, Ph.D.

  Dr. Stark is professor of Sociology and Comparative Religion at the University of Washington. He is renowned in the field of the sociology of religion with particular emphasis on religious movements. He is perhaps best known for coauthoring the Lofland-Stark Model of Conversion, which the author of The God-Men invoked in an attempt to criticize the local church.
  Dr. Stark received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California at Berkeley. He has authored over a dozen books and numerous articles on the sociology of religion.

  As an expert witness, I am sure he got paid plenty for his services. Now I wonder how much the Society paid him to appear on that video.

  You haven't been reading your Watchtower. Perhaps a shepherding call is called for.

  In the March 1, 2001 WT magazine it shows clearly what the GB are doing at night. We know, we are constantly reminded of it, that
  Isaiah pictures the Fadefull and Disgreed slave and on page 19 of that issue it shows Isaiah, kneeling with his back to the stone wall hands clasped in agony. The caption under the picture says, Isaiah sought Jehovah "in the night"

  Paragraph 8 explaining this picture states, Picture the prophet using the quiet times of the night to pray to Jehovah, expressing his deepest thoughts and ardently seeking Jehovah's guidance. What a fine example! Moreover, Isaiah learned righteousness from Jehovah's judgement acts. In this, he reminds us of the need for constant vigilance, keeping alert to discern Jehovah's will.

  The phrase in the night is in quotation marks, so am I off the mark to say the GB is sitting in the dark at night, beseeching the higher powers asking Where in hell do we go next?

  So in answer to your question, How does Brown sleep at night?"

  I would say the answer is definately, WITH DIFFICULTY

  Blood Issue- Calgary Father Needs Help

  the father asked me yesterday on the phone if any more of you could help him out with respect to his financial situation in defending against the wts to keep his daughter alive.

  he is deeply greatful to all who have helped so far.. as you are aware the wts is trying to prevent his daughter from having life saving blood transfusions during her chemo therapy.

  she has leukemia.. the father has won all court battles in all alberta courts.

  I sent 25 dollars already, but I will see if I can manage somemore. Is there any chance for the amount collected so far to be posted. It always seems there is a big rounded out figure always growing bigger and bigger. I know lawyers fees are expensive. Are we making any dint in the amount required? Or is it hopeless, dropping money down a bottomless pit.

  Your question, What verbal gymnastics will the org use to offset the pedophilia story is a very essential question that must be addressed in order to prevent their squirming out and escaping the justice that they merit.

  They have already started the the spin doctoring, we must become aware of it. I posted an article where I tried to point out their arguments and select verbiage that they are using as a buttress to protect their vulnerability. The thread may be seen at:

  Summarizing their arguments, they are and will continue to use freedom of religion as their defense.

  They will say that Bible demands that two credible eyewitnesses are required to establish wrongdoing.

  They will say that the Bible demands that if a wrongdoer manifests sincere, genuine repentance then a worshipper of Jehovah must forgive that wrongdoer. This forgiveness must also be forthcoming from the victim and his relatives, if not, they are going against the laws of Jehovah and are not demonstrating loving compassion that a follower of the Bible must have and they are sowing disunity within the organization and may merit reprimands for their unloving obstinence.
  
  They will say we base our actions regarding wrongdoing on the Bible and the laws of freedom of worship allow us this liberty.

  However the Bible does show cases where guilt of crimes are established with only one witness and the second witness that is required is Jehovah God himself that is, the evidence of the second witnesses is the universe itself, which provides evidence such as dna, and other corroborating evidence.

  The Watchtower is using false interpretations to cover up their sins.

  Will silentlambs Be DF???

  well now we have it, what appears to be the pre-emptive strike from wt.. as of this friday three families who appeared on the dateline program have been informed judicial committees have been setup with a one week notice and it is alleged that they have been causing "divisions" within the organization.

  i got my letter today, barbara anderson got hers yesterday and the other family earlier this week.. if you were a pr firm would you think it to be a good idea or a bad idea to df everyone a couple of weeks before the dateline program airs?

  what do you think the american public will think of such a move?.

  To the three families, Barbara Anderson and Bill Bowen, my thoughts are with you. Here are some of them.

  From what source did this decision come to call judicial hearings for those working with Silent Lambs. This did not come from the legal department or service department. It must have come from the top, those who claim to be the anointed over all the belongings of the Lord.
  What are their motives? I believe they have the same spirit as the high priest in the days of Jesus.

  They are reasoning that if they allow those taking the lead in the Silentlambs movement to continue then all Jehovah’s Witnesses will come to believe them, and the political authorities will come and desolate the Watchtower organization just as the secular authorities are decimating the Catholic Church. So they intend to sacrifice the few, to prevent their nation from destruction and not only that but it will result in the gathering together many of the children of God scattered abroad. It will cleanse the JW organization and will result in peace and prosperity for their numbers.

  They believe, that with God on their side, who can prevail against them.

  early this afternoon i was sent an email by a sister who was chastising me for claiming to not be disfellowshipped.

  she wrote she had just spoken to the oregon service desk and was assured that i was df on no uncertain terms.

  i was born and raised a witness.

  baptized at 14. pioneered after high school and was accepted to bethel when i was 19. got booted from bethel on my 21st b-day because someone exposed me for underage drinking prior to my 21st b-day.

  after i left bethel, nothing was ever the same, and my eyes began to be opened and i started seeing more clearly.

  After you receive all the answers to this post, send it to your mother and maybe she will get the picture. Also realize that mothers do things to encourage their children, it's what mothers do best.

  If your mothers encouragement disturbs you, then you within are reacting to her conduct, remnants of conscience are picking at your composure, just try and be aware of that and it too shall pass.
