Salute right back atcha Chickpea!
You'd have loved our Urban S&R today. The NCO's who played the part of "victims" really hammed it up.

Mary, the training is 2 full weekends. One a 3 day 2 night stay, the second a 2 day 1 night stay. With Cpt R****** cooking for us. Most of it is D&C (drills & ceremonies) and the last weekend is a field exercise in night time land nav.
Quandry, the GaSDF is an unpaid volunteer force under command of Georgia's Governor. You can find more info at http://gasdf.com
you gotta read this to beleive it!.....lately my mind is teaching s we had that "went beyond what is written" and this subject on self defence has cracked me up!!
!.....you if gotta see this to believe it!....not just guns....but almost everthing is bashed...they did leave out the option of us carrying a sword o.j.
style....or a spear.....this will make my list....(and you can have no privileges if you carry a gun at work...cop or security guard).......... *** g91 7/8 p. 12 self-defensehow far can a christian go?
That article is a complete crock of bovine excrement full of nothing but attempts to discourage everyone from taking proactive responsibility for the immediate safety of themselves and those around them.
Owning a firearm for self-defense means you accept the responsibility to know how to properly use that deadly force. Same with martial arts. The WTS is framing the article in such a way that one is to assume that anyone who buys a gun or learns martial arts never learns any judgement in how to properly use the force at their disposal.
I carry a pistol every day. I also practice and train with that pistol religiously. Same with the AR-15 I own (and will do so with the select-fire M4 I'm considering). Carrying a firearm is a huge responsibility. One must know by heart the laws regarding not only where it can be legally carried (everywhere for me, I'm active duty military) but also under what circumstances it may be drawn and fired.
Martial arts is a non-lethal self defense and the WTS' ban on them is ludicrous. First and foremost, martial arts is about control. The necessary amount of force to subdue and/or incapacitate an attacker, not kill, so that you can escape the situation. Yes, the techniques can be lethal. Which is why we are taught control first and foremost so that we are able in a real life situation to use only as much force in a strike as necessary.

2nd Batallion, 5th Brigade. A CWO told me he wants me in his platoon, so not sure if I'll be 1st or 2nd Platoon. It's sorta up to me whether or not I accept and I'm inclined to, but wherever they assign me I'll go.
Today's drill was a full day of Urban Search And Rescue training. We used the facilities at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC, pronounced "jipstick") including a mock village for some boots on the ground. I was on a 2-man search team, taking turns with the other recruit taking point. He's a firefighter so I got to learn from him as well.
My IET (Initial Entry Training) is set for April.
Next month we're going to drill on medevac with a real live UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter!
Haven't dealt with Cooper tires in a long time, are you having problems with a set?
My shop mostly sells Michelin.
Watson! Long time no see, bro!
Purps, if you only made yellow you missed all the fun of sparring! Sparring is what TKD is all about.
I successfully tested tonight for promotion to Blue Belt (ITA Tae Kwon Do). (sorry no video this time. next time I promise)
a friend of mine has invited me to attend a military drill tomorrow.. now i know what you're thinking.
bendrr, military, probably some redneck anti-government militia.. nope.. this is a drill of the georgia state defense force.
a real, legal, and legitimate military organization.
I just got home a little while ago from the drill. I enjoyed it.
There was another recruit there and we were both in street clothes, but both of us stood in formation with the Company and attended the classes. Standing at attention came easily to me since we stand at attention in formation during my TaeKwonDo classes. I was introduced around to everyone in the company, and after morning break attended new recruit indoctrination which was basically an interview with the Batallion Captain and Sergeant Major. Sergeant Major D. is a VietNam combat veteran and one hell of a guy.
The Lt gave me a stack of paperwork to fill out and the fact that I have a GFL (Georgia Firearms License) made her job as S1 easier since the fingerprints and background checks have already been done.
GaSDF troops have to supply their own ACU's (Army Combat Uniforms, the trousers and blouses in green digital camoflage), boots, name tapes, field caps, and berets. Corporal M. had a brand new ACU in my size which I bought at cost (he and I wear the same size). Couldn't wear the ACU for the drill though as I didn't have regulation boots.
During the afternoon break and before final formation, Corporal M. and Sergeant Major D. gave us a crash course on Drills and Ceremonies. Forming up, dress left, dress right, standing at attention, face left, face right, about face, and parade rest. And saluting. I was told by the Corporal not to call him sir, as he works for a living.
All in all, it was a memorable experience. Everyone is very friendly and while disciplined, pretty laid back. One of the local TV stations sent a reporter out to cover today's drill. I'll post up a link after the story airs. I will be sworn in next month at which time I will post up a pic of me in uniform.

The GaSDF is a volunteer force. The only time we are paid is when activated by the Governor.
There is one drill a month and 4 days annual training at Fort Stewart.

Just got off the phone with the 1Sgt. He's already got the paperwork ready and I'll be participating in the drill tomorrow, not just observing. PT, formation, all that stuff.
