I posted a while back about enlisting in the Georgia State Defense Force.
All my paperwork went through and I was sworn in at the final formation of today's drill.
2nd Batallion, 5th Brigade. A CWO told me he wants me in his platoon, so not sure if I'll be 1st or 2nd Platoon. It's sorta up to me whether or not I accept and I'm inclined to, but wherever they assign me I'll go.
Today's drill was a full day of Urban Search And Rescue training. We used the facilities at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC, pronounced "jipstick") including a mock village for some boots on the ground. I was on a 2-man search team, taking turns with the other recruit taking point. He's a firefighter so I got to learn from him as well.
My IET (Initial Entry Training) is set for April.
Next month we're going to drill on medevac with a real live UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter!
