I concur. Also keep in mind to add to every sentence how bad you feel over this reproach you have brought upon Jehovah's ORGANIZATION.

How to avoid getting DF'd
by WTLies inas an elder and judge at a judical committee hearing, their main job is supposed to be determining if the person is repentant, not guilty or innocent.
in the jw judicial system the guilt is almost always established prior to the hearing.
they either have two people that saw you commit the sin, or a confession.

Witnesses DO NOT Love Each Other

Ah yes the days of if you assign me with that sister I suddenly remember a call I need to go on. Or we need a substitute for talk number 3. Love? Not at all.

Disfellowshipping Procedure Changes
by WTLies inhas there been any changes as of late in the way the judical committe operates?
i was just in email with a dub that assured me that the elders no longer make decision to disfellowship but instead it's made at the society.
the elders only recommend.

Recommendations go to someone in Service Dept. who stamps and returns. I recently heard of a case where elder recommendation was not approved. Disfellowshipping is done by Judicial Committee and form is checked to make sure Society procedure was followed. In other words can we (the "Society") be sued.

Elders... Examples to the flock?
by Kagloo ina friend visited us today... it took about five minutes before we were having a general moan about the ways things are!
anyway.. these friends of ours were telling us about the things that go on in the families of elders in various congregations and how these guys are still in office.. .
now i thought that if you were 'appointed' it meant that you had god's blessing and approval... but how does that work out if you are allowing unscriptural things to go on in your own family and yet you are still in office?

Unfortunately, there is too much desperation in keeping a body of elders intact. Years ago there was some kind of direction, but now the situation seems to be don't make waves. I'm aware of congregations where brothers are recruited to come there with promises of being appointed, or if already an elder, promises of not having to do "too much." In these cases when you pile too much on one or two, what do you think they'll do?

Secrets of JW Elder Power
by Amazing inseveral days ago i posted a topic about how the newly reinstated could be disfellowshipped again for failing to attend meetings or particiapte in field service.
(this was based on the issue of lacking works that befit repentance.
) i used cautionary language about how this ""can"" happen, but was accused of making "dogmatic assertions" and that the organization book and the flock book never authorize such, and most of all the s-77 form sent into the society would trigger a co visit were it to state such things.

I think it really has to do with where you are located. In NYC many elders especially from Bethel pay little or no attention to suggestions from the CO. They usually have a buddy in the Service Dept. and will get their instruction from there. I've seen many a CO frustrated by their next visit in which prior instructions were not followed.

Starting studies not a priority
by La Capra inmy best friend got to see something that i would have loved to see.
he manages a gas station and mini-mart, and he is in the enviable position of being on someone's magazine route.
i have been nagging him to bring me the magazines, but he keeps forgetting.

That truly is a shocker. Any publisher or pioneer I knew would have killed to get a study. That's one less hour, or two a week in the ministry. Plus it's 4 return visits on the old field service report. Come to think of it, any publisher/pioneer would have brought some older issues that your friend might have found "interesting." Cleaned out that service bag!

embarassed
by restorebeauty in.
i just saw a dub at lunch time, in manhattan, on a busy street, looking like a human magazine rack.. .
my question is, did you ever get embarrased standing in such a public place?

Very few in the congregation went door to door they would do street work (now street witnessing) and when they finished they would go to the "office" which was a bench and take turns calling out to passerby to see if they wanted the mags.

LOCAL NEEDS TALKS, ANY YOU REMEMBER?
by minimus inone of the best tools the elders have to counsel the congregation is the local needs part.
how does one usually get picked for this talk?
generally, during an elder's meeting, one elder will have his pet peeve.he convinces the body that this issue has to be handled by the body.

Our local needs parts were assigned in order. Ministerial Servants were also assigned local needs parts. Most parts were so bland you wondered what the local need was. Most of the Bethelites would just give their Service Talk as the local need when they couldn't come up with something else earlier in the day.

I remember one brother, newly converted, who as he had his foot in the door was yelling at the householder "Lady, this means your life!" She told him it would mean his life if he didn't get his foot out of her door.

When I called home first my mother asked the person who picked up Who? Who? and then when she did take the call told me she would live longer than me.
