There was a member of the GB who was chastized from the dining room (not sure if it was morning worship or a later meal) for buying pornographic magazines on Montague St. I was told by a Bethelite that although his name was not given, an age range was which made him known. This would have happened in the mid 90's. Any former Bethelites remember this or would have the name?

Have you read my experience in the Awake?Read this
by ELON14 inmany of you already know my real name.i'm the one whose experience was published in the sep 8 1994 awake mag.
i would like to stress that although i have good reason to be angry and bitter, nothing i say here is said in anger but only in sadness.
i write this to say that if i could take back many of my words i said in that experience , i would.

ELON14, first my sympathies to you and your family. I too remembered your account. Have you considered writing the WT to ask for a retraction or maybe they would like to give an update? I wonder what their response would be. Maybe in future CD ROM's they will delete the article. I remember being surprised when told that the pictures usually located on the back of the magazines with an experience are staged and not the real persons. Dishonesty is a hallmark of the WT. Take care.

Justice #24a - Flock Book
by Amazing inmany jws and ex-jws have wondered about the secretive book called "pay attention to yourselves and to all the flock" or simply stated, the "flock" book.
little has been said about this book by way of critical review of its content.
this justice series #24 will review unit 5 of the flock book regarding judicial committees.

Why is this book always referred to as "secretive?" It's just a textbook for elders like the "Shining As Illuminators" is for Reg. Pioneers who go through the Pioneer School or books that are given to new Bethelites. New publishers are given an Organization book. There's nothing mystical here.

Well there is a lot of time to fill between the opening song and prayer and the closing song and prayer. The DO will say anything Sunday afternoon in his closing talk to wake everybody up that fell asleep during his public talk.

Jersey City Assembly Hall (formerly Stanley Theatre) did give tours daily. To get there you could take the PATH train to Journal Square and walk a couple of blocks. 360 Furman St. is where the Shipping Dept. is located. 90 Sands is a residence with two banquet halls on the roof. The easiest thing to do would be to go to a Kingdom Hall met a Bethelite and ask for a tour. They love these things! And (the best part) you'll never see them again.

Bethelites love giving tours. It gives them a half day off from work. If you wrote a letter something could probably be set up. Or if not enough time you could call and inquire. There is more than one tour. I know they had factory tours, home tours and tours of 360 Furman St. I don't know if 90 Sands has a tour.

When you became an elder
by freedom96 in.
when those of you became an elder, or even perhaps a person of responsibility in the congregation, what did you become aware of that shocked or suprised you behind closed doors, out of the sight of the rest of the congregation, that you would not have known if it were not for your position?.

How little respect elders had for CO's and other bodies of elders and how petty they could be when one didn't agree with their pet peeves.

If there's anything to learn from your experience, it's this... BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY AND TO WHOM YOU SAY IT. You would be very surprised at who is more than happy to stab you in the back all the while smiling in your face.
