Yearly count is based upon averages. If a publisher turns in time from Nov. in Dec. that report goes in for December's report. There is also a yearly survey done by the Secretary and Service Overseer containing number of baptized publishers, unbaptized publishers, meeting average etc.

What exactly IS a "Publisher"??
by LovesDubs inthis was posted in nov by namewithheld: "link, yes, if a baptised jw does not turn in time on a slip of paper, they are not counted as a 'publisher' for that month.
so indeed, it is true that there are more baptised jws than the number of publishers reported.
on the other hand, you can be counted a publisher and not be baptised jw.

Is it just me.....
by DIAMOND inis it just me or is it perfectly fine for a brother to take a 3 day or 5 day or 10 day cruise and miss up to 2 weeks worth of meetings and nothing is said.
but if a brother misses a month of sundays to work to put food on the table or make the rent, he is counsled.
does this make sense.

Many groups of witnesses arrange cruises where they have their daily text and WT study while back home the hall is half empty. Everything done by the in crowd is easily explained away.

Went to a meeting a few weeks ago.......
by flower inwell actually it wasnt a meeting, it was my grandma's funeral but it may as well been the 'special talk' for the year with all the bullshit they were spewing.. the 'brother' giving the 'eulogy' (haha..) was an elder from my former congregation, my parents current congregation and to my knowledge (i'm 99% sure) has never met or seen my grandmother before that day.
neither had any of the other jw's that were there 'supporting' my family...well the jw family anyway, the rest of us dont need support since we are df'd.. i hadnt been to a meeting for almost 2 years now and i cant tell you how hard it was sitting through the twisting of scriptures and arrogance know it all attitude coming from the speaker.
my bf and i just looked at each other in disgust while scripture after scripture was read to prove the dead are just dead and their soul is dead and all we have to do is wait till the ressurection if we want to see them again.

Condolences for your loss. I recall how tracts and brochures dealing with "death" were handed out by the attendants. Use the captive audience to give a "witness." Business as usual.

NOT placing BOOKS? Spiritually weak!
by Alligator Wisdom ina few months back we had the usual elders/ms meeting with the circuit overseer during his visit.
there was a point that the co had emphasized and it brought me sick to my stomach anyone didn't put the effort to make such placements, that these publishers were in need of spiritual help and that we (elders/ms) should help such ones to do so.
talk about the pressure!

In my old congregation the publishers rarely tried to place anything but magazines. On many occasions when I conducted the meeting for field service, no one could answer the question: "What is the offer for the month?" without sneeking a peek at the KM.

Did I die?
by benext inlast week at the kingdom hall, my mother was met by an elder who said: "i'm sorry to hear about benext, she found that puzzling then another mournful face who told her they'd help her in any way they could.
the gossip had gotten around that i no longer "went to my meetings like i should.
" i've been inactive for a year and haven't been to a meeting for several months.

AT&T should be getting lots of income as the gossip crew struggle mightily to inform those far and wide. As for me, I've never felt more alive.

SPECULATION.
by Blueblades inhere we go again!the wt.1/1/2003,page 6,par:2.the time that god has allowed for humans to experiment with self-government is about to end.
(speculation).in fulfillment of bible prophecy, his kingdom was established in the heavens in 1914.
(speculation) footnote, for a detailed discussion of bible prophecy relating to 1914,see chapters 10 and 11 of the book knowledge that leads to everlasting life.now here is where it gets interesting.

Did they really write that? It's about to end? Based on what? I can just see the 1/1/2010 WT: "Of course some read into our words that self government was about to end to mean a specific date. This is where a heart of wisdom comes in." It never ends.

Should I or shouldn't I?
by benext inhello, benext here.

This is Ralph Walls a big name down at Bethel. The troublemaker has also been at Bethel about 20 years or so and is a big brownnoser. He doesn't have too many admirers there either. Here's a man who let his wife go to a relative's funeral by herself because he had an out of town talk scheduled a couple of weeks later and didn't want to take the time off. I am out been inactive for a year now but because I'm fairly well known this thing has taken off. I was just looking into the possiblity of driving another nail into his coffin.

Hello, benext here. This evening I became aware that my name is on the lips of all the loving gossipers at my former place of worship. I need to be vague at this point but someone let the cat out of the bag about some personal information they had learned about me. One of the elders made it a point to have himself scheduled to give a talk at my second former place of worship. This was simply to check on me. They of course told him I haven't been attending meetings and he wasted no time returning to his home congregation to loudly lament what a shame it was. He approached someone elderly with heart problems who is close to me and, just as the serpent in the garden asked Is it really so? This scared them half to death.
What I need to know especially from former Bethelites is should I get his boss R. Walls, yes the very same R. Walls that had this jerk busted from his former corner office where he would sit at night calling his spies for info on people, involved to ask this fool why he of all people would be reponsible for originating and continuing gossip.
I am in need of your counsel. I am seriously thinking of going to their CO's visit and asking him what he thinks of this. I would try to see if he could swallow my fist but have no interest in going to jail.
Thank you.

Governing Body! Worshiped like Kings!
by Alligator Wisdom ini can't get over the fact the the gb of the wt society are treated like kings.
aren't they supposed to be "one of the brethren"?
the wt always accuses others of being guilty of "idol" worship when it comes to people of fame (i.e.

When some of the GB members went to Cuba it was written in the WT about them autographing Bibles for the local witnesses. I wondered about that then. They are celebrities of a sort. We had many as speakers either for public talks or the Memorial. One year a local brother died while giving the special talk. Months later Brother Loesch came to that congregation to give the talk. After the talk he was ushered out by his security while brothers and sisters reached out to touch him or shake his hand.
