Gary,
I thought about you all night. I can't imagine the pain you must be going through. Your young with a wife and kids, this should be the happiest time of your life. Instead the Watchtower Company is beating you into the ground and your family as well.
Please for the sake of your children and your wife, get out of this mind control cult before it's too late. Take a break and spend some time with your family. Go on vacation and have some fun. Enjoy life for a change. I bet once you do you'll be able to quite taking the meds and have a much happier life. Life is too short to worry about what a bunch of old men in Brooklyn want. You can find your own way to worship God. A way that will make you and your family happy.
I really don't think when God spoke about his "happy people" he was referring to them being on anti-depressants.
I wish you all the best and hope everything works out.

God's Organization.
by Blueblades init is evident that the only way any organization could be god's organization would be if god appointed it as such.
jehovah's witnesses believe that the watchtower society received that appointment in the spring of 1919 in fulfillment of the most important scripture in watchtower theology---matthew 24:45-47.. on the watchtower's official website under the heading, 'what jehovah's witnesses believe" they list forty of their teachings.
but their most important teaching, the only teaching that needs to be known------"the watchtower society is god's organization"---is not mentioned.. this from,"captives of a concept" page17.

they are politicians... i truly believe that all "religions" are full of people trying to convince people to convert, or in retrospect, VOTE for them... the more that vote for them, the more powerful the man on top becomes... so they all try to use the sweetest scents and the nicest looking flowers to attract the most busy bees... its ridiculous... like i didnt have enough politicians in my life.. do i reallu need some to govern my mind, and not only the body and society??? NOPE!!!
the infamous one
I couldn't have said it better myself.

Abortion
by Ellie in.
i don't know if any of you brits saw the 'this morning' show today but they had a woman on it whos mother had tried to abort her at 7 and a half months pregnant, apparentely they gave her mum some stuff to drink which burns the baby inside and out, but fortunately this baby survived and now as a woman she is campaigning for anti abortion laws to be brought in.. so, what are your views on abortion?
-
Hecklerboy
I believe abortion is up to the women having the baby. She knows her body best and can decide on her own what needs to be done.
My wife and I discuss this all the time. There are so many variables that each situation needs to be looked at. There is no right or wrong.
For example: What if a 13 yr old girl is raped and becomes pregnant. Should she have to carry a rapist baby to term and then have her life greatly hindered by having to raise a child? Not to mention the physical danger of a 13 yr old having a baby.
Just my $.02

D'Fing and Love
by I-CH-TH-U-S ini once talked to a jw about disfellowshipping and was curious to how can this be showing a christly love when you all out turn your back on them.
he gave me an answer about rightousness and unrightrousness having no fellowship (which is biblical) but it didnt make sense to me.
didnt seem applicable in many ways.

if you have a fish tank of water, and you put maybe 1-3 drops of red dye in, the whole thing becomes red, thus infecting the entire thing
If they are going to use that theory then why do they allow non-witnesses to come to the meeting, associate with them, and even invite them to gatherings. Wouldn't a witness that has made a mistake, even a serious one, need all the support of the congregation. It's amazing how they will spend months of love bombing trying to get someone to become a witness but can disfellowship someone in a matter of weeks. Disfellowshipping someone is just like kids on a playground sticking their tongues out and saying "you can't play with us anymore".
I have a friend that is disfellowshipped. He has a very successfull buisness and his family always shun him except when they need work of course. Him being the better christian gladly gives them work when they need it and even helps out the family with money. All while they are shunning him. I'm not sure if I could be as loving if my family did the same to me.
Disfellowshipping is wrong!! And doesn't make much sense.

Do you believe that Religion benefits mankind?

I believe religion was created to control the masses.
You don't need an organized religion to praise god.

I was watching the history channel this weekend and they had a show on the global flood story. It was pretty interesting, mostly the same old stuff and some commentators from different religions. While I was watching this, two thoughts kept coming to mind:
God failed in his mission to rid the world of evil. The bible says that god brought about the flood to destroy all the wicked people. But just a few chapters later and evil is back in the earth. So God failed to wipe out evil from the earth.
This leads to my second thought. Wiping out all the evil people on the earth without destroying the source of the evil doesn't make much sense. It would be like us finding a cure for aids. Then killing everyone that has aids except for one person and then letting that person infect other people. All the while never using the cure.
Just a couple of things to ponder.
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!!!!

Hey there, welcome to the board.
I was raised a witness too but left when I was 28. I've never been DF or DA but I no longer have anything to do with the witnesses.
I guess my biggest beef with the WTBS is the "conditional" love they show. Yes I said conditional not unconditional. You will get to see this in action very soon. Since your sister is Disasociating herself her once close and life-long freind will treat her like she's dead. No one will speak to her or even acknowledge her. All because she changed her mind on what she believes. You said it's starting to cause allot of pain in you family now. In my opinion, no religion should tell you what family member you can associate with. The family bond should be the strongest thing in your life. Any religion that comes between that is just evil. Jesus never shunned anyone and neither should his followers.
Other things include the hypocrisy on many different matters. One being the UN scandal. Why is it OK for the WTBS to join the UN as a Non-Govermental Organization so they can use the library (their excuse) but I can't join the YMCA to use the pool. And why did the brother in Malawi have to die because the WTBS wouldn't let them have a political card but the brother in Mexico were allowed to bribe officials to obtain card the showed they served in the military?
There are many other things that I don't like about the Wathtower Society but I won't go into them now. I just hope you stick around and learn as much as possible if only for your sister's sake. Maybe you will get some insight on what she is going through.
