2 older brothers and 1 older sister.
Sister in still in and very active.
Oldest brother hasn't gone to a meeting in over 10 years, but still considers self a witness.
Other brother is studying and the brainwashing is setting in nicely.
He used to be so fun to talk to about cars and motorcycles. Now he barely talks to me and just tells me that I need to come back to the meetings.

Were you ever scared of going to prison as a JW?...
by Hecklerboy ini remember growing up a jw and always being told that someday the goverment would turn on us and throw us in prison.. i was watching a documentary on national geographic about san quinton prison and it brought back old memories of those fears.. i remember thinking how scared i would be if i had to go to prison and what i could do to protect myself.
i would think of how i could just stay in my cell all the time so no one could hurt me.
especially after seeing stories on the news about riots and rapes and people getting stabbed.. leave it to the jw's to make a kid worry about going to prison.

Thanks for all the replys. Glad to here I wasn't the only one that felt that way. Man, am I so glad I'm out of that religion.
On another note: the wife and I are discussing going to Easter Service this Sunday. I've never been to an Easter Service before so it should be interesting.

Comments You Will Not Hear at the 4-9-06 WT Study (Recreation)
by blondie in(a) why is it difficult to find acceptable recreation?
q 6, 7. what can help you decide what is acceptable or unacceptable.
9 at times, christians ask: "what is acceptable recreation?
-

Really, though, it should not be necessary for others to tell us that a particular book, movie, game, dance, or song is unacceptable.
They say this and then spend the rest of the article telling them what is appropriate recreation.'
I remember when they cracked down on the recreation at our congregation. Thanks goodness my mom wasn't too harsh on us. She still let us do whatever we wanted and we still turned out O.K.

The rudeness of people
by greendawn inwhat were some rude things people said or did to you?
i remember once this guy who farted loudly several times in quick succession and then apologised to those present in the room by saying: oh had some coke that's where the gases came from, don't worry they are not the smelly meaty ones.

"For heaven's sake, this is a funeral"
This actually happened to us last year at my wife's grandfather's funeral. This idiots phone starts ringing in the middle of the sermon and instead of quickly turning it off he looks to see who is calling and casually strolls outside and talks on the phone. Now how's that for showing respect for the family and deceased?
One that really bothers me is when people get in my personal space. Like when in line to check out at the supermarket. They push their cart up your but and start putting their item on the counter with yours.

Wife gets mags while at work...
by Hecklerboy inmy wife is a nurse in the icu at our local hospital.
they had a witness guy in there last night.
she refused to take him as a patient because she can't stand witnesses .

I'm intriqued by this. Isn't this a form of religious discrimination? I don't like the JW religion either, but if a JW needed help in an emergency, I wouldn't refuse to help. Come to think of it, I don't much care for any religion, but that's not cause to withhold help if one needed it.
Is there more to the story that would explain that action? Am I missing something?
Don't get me wrong on this. She would have done anything for him if he was her patient. They make assignments at the beginning of the shift and she told the other nurse that she would rather not take him as a patient. She never mentioned to the other nurses that she dislikes witnesses. My family has not done well by her. Plus she had to stand by and watch an elderly witness lady die a slow and painful death because she refused to take a blood transfusion. If he would have witnesses to her she would have become very upset, though she would never show it in front of a patient.
She's an incredibly caring nurse, she just has issue with witnesses. She would never discriminate against anyone.
Sorry for the confusion, guess I should of been more clear on the matter.
