  Lets go to the church but stand outside

  i am so sick of this!

  i have a split family, some non-jw and some jw, and ever since i was a young kid, ive noticed this silly fear of entering a church, i remember i must have been about 9 years old when my uncle died and my family went to the funeral, but we stood outside, and even at that young age i remember it felt wrong, like we were disrespecting my dead uncle and his family.

  like ive wrote on this board before, i told my parents when at 15 i didnt want to go to meetings anymore and was never baptized, when i was 18 my great uncle died and at the funeral i went into the church for mass, when it was over i walked outside all the rest of my family were outside waiting, they all gave me dirty looks like i was just caught with a prostitute.

  my family did not attend the ceremony I couldn’t help but look down at the grooms side and feel horrible, the space left open for my mom was empty, the flower bouquet that was suppose to be for her was left on the seat.

  Man I feel for you. When I got married I made sure to have the wedding outside so my mother and sister wouldn't have to enter a church. My mom was excited and was even planning on buying a new dress. A few weeks before the wedding they informed me that they were not going to attend because I was marrying a "worldly" girl. At the time I had not went to a meeting in over 6 years. They said coming to my wedding would mean that they approved of me marrying out of the JW's. I knew that an elder had got to them. However they went to my "worldly" brothers wedding and my mom was even in the ceremony. Makes no sense to me.

  I remember looking on the grooms side as well and not seeing any family. Just a few of my friends. My wifes side was packed. I have to admit it was a little embarassing.

  A bit reluctant

  i'm a bit reluctant in writing this post, for i dont feel i should be here.

  even a bit nervous... .

  i've never officially dedicated myself to jehovah, but i was brought up in the truth, very strong, and at times when getting older, there were lulls in my attendance... yet to this day i still attend.

  I guess one of the biggest things for me was when I learned that the Society teaches that they are the mediator between you and God, Not Jesus. They say that Jesus is just the mediator for the 144,000.

  Nowhere in the bible did I ever read that.

  • Is Jesus the "mediator" only for anointed Christians?

  The term "mediator" occurs just six times in the Christian Greek Scriptures and Scripturally is always used regarding a formal covenant.

  Moses was the "mediator" of the Law covenant made between God and the nation of Israel. (Gal. 3:19, 20) Christ, though, is the "mediator of a new covenant" between Jehovah and spiritual Israel, the "Israel of God" that will serve as kings and priests in heaven with Jesus. (Heb. 8:6; 9:15; 12:24; Gal. 6:16) At a time when God was selecting those to be taken into that new covenant, the apostle Paul wrote that Christ was the "one mediator between God and men." (1 Tim. 2:5) Reasonably Paul was here using the word "mediator" in the same way he did the other five times, which occurred before the writing of 1 Timothy 2:5, referring to those then being taken into the new covenant for which Christ is "mediator." So in this strict Biblical sense Jesus is the "mediator" only for anointed Christians.

  The new covenant will terminate with the glorification of the remnant who are today in that covenant mediated by Christ. The "great crowd" of "other sheep" that is forming today is not in that new covenant. However, by their associating with the "little flock" of those yet in that covenant they come under benefits that flow from that new covenant. During the millennium Jesus Christ will be their king, high priest and judge.   Yep, I can see how silly it was for the R&F to get all excited about 1975.

  I mean the society did come right out and SAY that the end was coming in 1975. They just said that according to all of this overwhelming evidence it MIGHT come.

  Assemblies: Queues (Lines) at the Ladies, and taping over mirrors

  this topic sufaces here every now and again, with people reporting on the way that in some locations, the brothers tape paper over the mirrors in the ladies toliets, in order to speed things up and reduce queues.

  The quickest, best way to have a Witness open their eyes to being a cult

  my sister was probably one of the most loyal witnesses out there.

  all her responses were pulled right from the watchtower thinking, "sorry you feel that way, but i believe jehovah's witnesses are god's people.

  " well in time we came to an agreement, "you do not bring up your negative thoughts on the religion, and i will not try to get you to come back to the religion.

  They still leave pamphlets for me with key pages and passages noted and little notes about being "so close to the end",

  Save all of these and then 20 years from now show them to your parents and ask them why the end hasn't come yet.

  HELP!! ADVICE....Saying NO to pioneering

  i have a female friend who i've been discussing the religion with.

  she definitely has doubts about the org but isn't sure on leaving just yet as she has still got about 6 months to go being a minor dependent on the parents.

  lately, she's been getting heavy pressure to start pioneering.

  What Are "Unfair" Things JWs Made You Do?

  i was thinking how unnatural it is for most people to knock on stranger's doors and tell them that if they don't respond to what they were trying to get across, that they were going to be killed by god.

  .....then there's the obligation to join the theocratic ministry school and go on a platform and give talks---even if you had a phobia!

  .....or you're made to feel that you must answer at the meetings even if you're extremely shy.....are there other things that you can think of that made you totally uncomfortable?

  Stop dating pioneer sister I was really interested in because I wasn't baptised yet. Funny thing is I knew more about JW teaching than she did.

  Field Service - man did I hate that. I would start getting nervouse days before we went.

  I never did shun disfellowshipped ones or stop associating with my "worldly" friends.

  I didn't mind the TMS. I'm a great public speaker and still give presentation on career day at the local high school.

  Sounds like they are wanting to "toot their own horn" again. That book is full of how the Watchtower Society fullfills just about every prophecy in the bible.

  I remember studying that book in the early 90's and even then we had to disregard some page because of "new light".

  Maybe this will wake some people up and let them see that the Watchtower has no clue what they are talking about.
