I thought I was alone
by elinor ini just could not believe it when i stumbled across this forum recently.
i was actually doing research for my dad who wanted to see the world's viewpoint of the failed 1975 prophecy.
he came into the truth less than three years ago and though my mom has been a witness since she was a teenager she never spoke of that particular time period to him.

I too was raised in the "truth". I missed out on allot of things. Like playing sports in school, going to dances, and hanging out with friends. I totally missed out on a normal childhood. I'm so happy I got out of that messed up religion.
I too remember sitting at the book study reading the Revelation book and think how in the world can they apply biblical prophecies mades over 2000 years ago to a small group of men living in New York. They are totally mental. If you read some of the old quotes from the Watchtower and Awake you can see real quickly that the Society is not even close to having God's direction. They continually contradict themselves and spew totally false information. One of the statements they made in the Watchtower that really bothered was how if a woman didn't scream while being raped that she could be disfellowedshipped for fornication. Only a nut would say such a ignorant thing.
I hope your journey of enlightenment will be a fruitful one. It might be a rough ride but once you learn the truth about the "truth" there is no going back.

Nurses, unite!
by exwitless injust wondering how many of us are nurses?
i'm a licenced practical nurse (working on my rn degree), and i work as a cosmetic dermatology specialist.
i see about 10 to 16 patients per day, doing things like laser hair removal treatments, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, skin care consultations, etc.

My wife has been a Registered Nurse for 7 years and will finish her Master's Degree in Nursing this May. She will be a Family Nurse Practitioner.

I hate having JW parents.
by reneeisorym ini'll try to make this long story short.. in october ... about 3 days before i left for a trip my mother decided to have my cell phone cut off.
i've had my bill in my mom's name since i was 16 and have always paid it since i was old enough to work.
but .. out of pure spite, she cut off my phone.

Speaking from experience, I say do your wedding they way you want. Have the ceremony wherever you want. We decided to have our wedding outside so my mom and sister didn't have to step inside a church. Then at the last minute the told me they were not coming. They said by coming to the wedding they would be approving of me marrying a "worldly" person. Of course it rained and we had to scramble to move everything to a church. A couple of friends of mine couldn't find the new location and missed the ceremony.
Make your wedding everything you want it to be. Don't let your family dictate what yourwedding will be like.

Why is the Watchtower Society so cruel to teens?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy mom just informed me that a 17 year old has been disfellowshipped at her hall.at least 7 others have been kicked out within the last 5 years.the publisher count is only 56 .why do they let the teens get baptized so young?
i was 14 and only got baptized because of pressure and the end was coming.if you weren't baptized you would be destroyed.. why don't they wait until everyone is at leat 21?
all these teens haven't come back and you won't ever see them unless they return.i haven't seen my cousin in over 2 years.no one went to his wedding,isn't invited to any family functions and is to be avoided at all costs.. the watchtower society should be ashamed that they act that way and the parents let them get away with it..

My childhood wasn't as bad as some of yours. My mother was pretty cool and let me have "worldly" friends and hang out with them. However, I wasn't allowed to do the normal things like play sports in school, learn martial arts, celebrate anything with the kids at school. You know, the whole "I'm a JW" crap. I still resent not being able to play sports or go to college.
So I've decided to do something about it. I'm going to be the best parent a kid could ever ask for. I will encourage them to play whatever sports they like. Take them to all the parties and dances. Help them get into a great college and have a great career. I'm going to make sure they have a wonderful childhood and a wonderful life.
On a side note: I started Karate last year and have found out that I am very good at it. I absolutely love it. It's one of the best things I've ever done. It's very relaxing and great exercise and great for build self-confidence and self-worth. I highly recommend it.

My Wedding

she was given 30 minutes to evac.
she made it out with her clothes on her back and her cats.

Yeah, same thing here. We even planned to have our wedding outdoors so my mom and sister wouldn't have to step foot in a church. My mom was even excited about buying a new dress for the occasion. Well, I guess my holier than thou sister got to her and the next thing I know I get a phone call telling me the neither of them are coming to my wedding. I was pretty upset and a little embarassed. All of my wife's family was there, but only my two brothers attended.
What really takes the cake is about a year later my sister gets married to a "brother" that I was never even introduced to and she just couldn't understand why I never came to her wedding. I mean she didn't even send a card or anything to me and then is upset that I didn't attend her wedding. Oh well, I got the last laugh. A year after they were married they got separated becuase this wonderful "brother" is on drugs and watching porn. Now they are divorced. As for my wife and I, we will be married 7 years this May and are doing great.
