And never one scripture to back it up. Did you ever notice no one dares touch the bread and wine at the memorial but yet,by extension, everyone is obligated to preach the good news and fill out a monthly report.

How did you feel when the expression "by extension" was used when discussing scriptures?
by stillstuckcruz ini really had a hard time accepting certain scriptures as being an "extension" to modern-day jw's.
examples:.
ip-2 cp6 pg87 paragraph 87: "for gods exiled people in babylon, those words are an assurance that the promised land will not remain desolate.

Feels great!!!!!
The last meeting I officially attended was December 5,2004.I just love staying home Sunday mornings and doing whatever I feel like.My father still attends meetings and often tells me that the attendance was low.It was always obvious many didn't like being there and often when a meeting was cancelled everybody was happy but didn't want to show it.

No Watchtower Magazines
by JH in.
often in the past, after missing many months of meetings, i just showed up at the hall, and i had such a hard time finding a watchtower magazine, just to follow the study.. even elders were trying to find one for me, and sometimes there was just one left, and often there was none, so i remember being given one from a witness who decided to follow with his spouse in her magazine.. what i'm getting to is that they don't have tons of magazines at the hall, just there waiting for some newbie to show up.. i wonder why they go door to door, if they can't even have a couple of spare watchtower magazines incase a stranger just showed up...

And how about getting a copy of the Kingdom ministry if you weren't at your book study to get your personal copy? It's like your copy disappeared if you didn't show up to collect it.
I always had a WT.Would've been too embarrassing to show up without one.Everybody would've known that I hadn't prepared-a demonstration of spiritual weakness!

Aussies/Canadians of JWD most laid back~
by FlyingHighNow ini was thinking today, i've been here at jwd for nearly three years now.
i've observed that our aussie members are the most laid back members on the board here.they don't take their country, their politics or anything too seriously really.
people who are from europe tend to be more laid back than the brits and americans.

HOW MANY ARE LEAVING?
by zev ini see lots of names here that i don't know, and with the wt on a campain to keep its followers from looking at "unaproved sites" .
i've got to wonder.....what are the stats?
how many are leaving ?

I believe afew years ago,for every three that got baptized, two were leaving. This ratio is probably 1 for 1 now and in a few years it'll be 3 baptized and 4 out the back door.
As well,I think that of those who leave, less than 10% actually sign-up here.I know a lot in this area who have left yet I haven't seen one here yet.So if the numbers are increasing rapidly here,it means the decline is quite steep among the ranks of jw's.And as someone already mentioned,of those still in,a large percentage are just going along for the social connections or for family reasons.
