Here are a few I can remember:
A JW-couple is staying in Rome, one day they visit the Vatican.
(The Vatican is not even open to tourists so this story is definitely a hoax)
and get locked in after closing time. While trying to find the exit they suddenly
hear a loud shriek and see a naked woman running around followed by some priests.
The priests manage to catch her and drag her away into some secret
entrance. The JW-couple finally find the way to their hotel (How they did so is not known)
and call the police. The investigating officer tells them to leave Rome immediately
and not tell anyone what happened.Naturally the JW's over here lapped this story up since
it put the Catholics in such a bad daylight :-)
Another one is about a dog called "Jehovah" and it's owner who was so fed up with JW's
that he set the dog on them saying "Jehovah, attack!".One day the dog magically turned
on it's boss and bit him to death.
Yet another one is about three JW's in some unspecified South American country where
the government had banned the JW's.One day they where doing their usual preaching rounds
when a thunderstorm forced them to hide for cover.Lightning hit one of the JW's and killed
him.It turned out he was a government spy who worked himself up into the hierarchy.
"Proof" that Jehover takes care of his people.Yeah, right :-)

JW 'urban legends'
by Steve Lowry ini was thinking about some of the old jw urban legends that we grew up with and believed in as jws.
most of the ones i remember revolved around stories about demons, and jws being "attacked" when they would do something wrong.
some of these legends scared the crap outta me when i was little.

STOP Ashcroft! Sign this Petition
by badwillie inalready 42,938 americans have stood up today in defense of civil liberties.
as attorney general john ashcroft began his tour of the country to promote an expansion of the patriot act, the american people are signing a petition demanding that ashcroft "stop compromising our freedoms; stop eroding our basic civil rights; stop trying to teach our neighbors to spy on each other, and american communities to mistrust each other.".
if you haven't yet signed the petition to stop ashcroft, do so here:.

Strange that I don't see any of the rightwingers in here chime in.
They are probably not very concerned about "Basic Civil Rights" and such,
it's all too "Bleeding Heart Liberal" to them.
They would rather have you leave the USA,
they would rather have you sign up at "ThenLeave.com".
They probably find you all very "Unpatriotic" :-)

It has all those songs in midi-format for when you are in a masochistic mood :-)

questions about 1975 and other dates
by Leander inmy wife and i were discussing the date of 1975 earlier this week and she basically was of the opinion that the individuals who thought the end was coming in that year came up with the date based on their incorrect assesment of published information.
i replied that would it make sense for thousands of people across the continent to sell their homes and all of their valued possesions if they really had the slightest doubt that armageddon was not coming in 1975. she did'nt have an answer for that retort but still she insisted that somehow these people must have made a mistake in their judgement.
so for those of you who may have lived through the 1975 fiasco and those who have in-depth knowledge about the events that took place in that year maybe you can answer a few questions for me.. how widespread was the belief that 1975 was the year of armageddon?

WoMD ... so where are they?
by Simon innow, the war is over, the weapons were not used and of course have not been found.. how threatening could they be if they did not even use them when being invaded by a massive force (of the countries they hate)?!
perhaps, as many suspect, they didn't use them because they didn't have them?.
now we're being told that we'll have to be patient and give them time to find them.

>What's even more mind boggling is the fact that everyone who is against the war
>with Iraq are ignoring the fact that Saddam was a brutal
>dictator who killed an untold number of people at a whim simply because he didn't like them.
It is *not* a fact that "that everyone who is against the war with Iraq
are ignoring the fact that Saddam was a brutal dictator...".
It *is* a fact that most if not all right wingers simply can not move themselves beyond this Black/white reasoning:
"If you're against the US waging war against Iraq then you must be pro-Saddam".
It's simplistic *and* it's stupid...

I know that Kraftwerk once made a "Tour de France" tune and are now planning on releasing
some remixes of it,but I have not seen the ITV programme so I am clueless too :-)
If there are lots of grunting noises in it on a regular electronic beat, then it's most probably Kraftwerk...

his statement was that only the mother is a jw.

>...What's important is that they're kick-ass tennis stars lighting up an otherwise pretty dull (at the moment) sport.
I thought (And I am not alone in this) that women's tennis sport was getting dull because of those Williamses
always winning it.That's why I found it fun to see one of them losing out against a player (Henin) at whom they were poking fun
because of her size...
