school lunches and other rituals...
by under74 ini was just watching a thing about school lunches and how it might be partly responsible for the obesity in kids here in the us.
i think this is true from what my niece and nephews tell me about what they get from school lunches....but it got me to thinking about when i was in elementary school and weight problems or the problems that start them.
1) by the 5th grade i thought i was fat because i was weighed by the school nurse in front of the rest of my class...even though i was the tallest in my class and now knw i wasn't over weight.

2) We were poor and so I was able most of the time to get free lunch BUT sometimes I had to pay. It was $1 back in the early to mid 80s and it was crap that was being bought. Then the school district would complain they didn't have enough money...There's no way the crap kids bought for lunch amounted to a dollar. $1 for a crappy sloppy joe? What about now?
I'm not overweight but as a kid I thought I was I can't say that being weighed in front of classmates was the cause for that (I had a mom constantly on a diet and pointing out overweight people even if she was one of them) but I know it didn't help.
Just a couple thoughts...insomnia is draining me and making me think about things long past... -

i'm not excited about everything...there was a family fight at thanksgiving that hasn't been totally resolved yet.

I'm missing everyone here. Have a good Christmas if I can't get back online
by kwintestal ini haven't been able to get online much lately.
different projects and an upcomming move has kept me off the computer.
i've been home for most of the last two days, but couldn't spare a minute to even touch the computer.

Shall we bring back the death penalty
by ballistic infor writers of viruses, spyware and other various forms of malicious code?.
i have been getting pop ups for a week (even with a pop up blocker) of something called winfixer which tells you you need to buy their product to stop annoying pop ups!!!
what i didn't know is after 7 days it dumps it trojan payload called "vundo" on you which doesn't even work properly and causes a normal service which is running to use 50% of your cpu utilisation.. norton very kindly lets you know you have a virus, but fails to remove it.... i did it, but it took 6 hours of messing around.

ah, I'm sorry you're having trouble. I've had problems with this as well on the pc. Right now I'm on a mac which I've never had any virus or worm trouble...since most of those things are made for pcs. There are drawbacks to macs but hackers and the like aren't any of them from my experience.
Have you tried stepping up your firewall and...well, you probably have...and it didn't work. You could always try reformatting...
