yeah, I liked the Lion, the witch and the wardrobe too but I think my favorites were Ezra J. Keats books (Snowy Day, Goggles) the Ramona books (Ramona The Brave and so on) and Tale Of A 4th Grade Nothing. After age 11 my favorites were The Outsiders and Rumble Fish.

Adam was perfect,...Right?
by prophecor inmy wife and i were discussing adam being a perfect creation of god.
we as jw's, have always associated adam with being such, but she tosses me a curveball and does not necessairily agree to the standard jw theology.
she believes that had adam been perfect, the sins of the fathers would never have been visited upon his children, we would never have been locked out of paradise and all the ills of this world would never have been an issue.

prophecor- I wasn't meaning to offend with my statements about Jesus. They're honestly things that bothered me. So I hope no offence was taken. It's good to read you're doing well after leaving and your wife brings up good points...and you listen.
All the best to you and yours.
PS- That is Morris Day, right?

Welcome to the forum Blue_Shadow and momof5.
Blue_Shadow- I was raised a JW and I now celebrate the holidays with my family but it's not about the origins of the holidays for us. It's all about the time together and the huge dinners. As far as religion goes, I agree with blondie in that it's a personal matter that you have to find out for yourself. I'm not religious and that works for me but others might want to seek out another church. The only thing I would say about this is that there are many other religions and they aren't going anywhere...you shouldn't rush into anything.
momof5- Stick around the forum awhile and I think you'll get a lot of information. However, some of your questions can only be answered by you and it'll take a little while but you'll get to where you can answer them for yourself. As far as the doctrine questions go you should look at the "best of" section from Lady Lee. There are tons of great threads that have to do with your questions.
*Sometimes being confused is good. It means you're taking more than one opinion into consideration.

intersting ponderings...
I think Adam was imperfect for the reasons your wife gives but also in that had he been perfect he would have never been tempted.
As for Jesus....he seemed like a good guy but he had a violent fit in the house of God when he saw goods being sold....and he talked back to his mother. I'm not trying to make light of your subject here, I was kind of bothered by these stories as a kid because they made Jesus seem human...because he wasn't perfect.
PS- do you really look like Morris Day?

Moral ethics - how would you decide?
by ozziepost intonight on cnn was an interview with an anguished mother visiting thailand who was unable to find her missing daughter.. when the tsunami waves hit they became separated and now was frantically searching for news of her.
in her heart she knew she had died but wanted (needed) to know of her fate.. when interviewed she was about to board her flight back to sweden.
we could feel her pained heart as she told her story.. but now what would you have done?

damn...I don't think I would have been able to leave. No judgment against her or anyone else that would leave. I just don't think I'd be able to leave.

What Isaiah 11: 6-8 mean?
by male30baroda inisaiah 11:6-8 asv ?
and the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
(7) and the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

"If great crowd will go to heaven to serve with Christ"
The "great crowd" in Jehovah's Witness teachings doesn't go to heaven. The "annointed" or "144,000" go to heaven. The "great crowd" lives forever in paradise on earth.

The Book of Revelation
by under74 inokay, if anyone's seen my last post i'm doing a research paper on adventist groups.
right now i'm reading revelation since it's a big thing amongst adventists.
my own conclusion is that revelation had to do with the time it was written in.

A Paduan- Well...I get what you say. To be specific, American Christians as in Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists, Mormons, Pentecostals, Evangelicals and those that keep track of the "Rapture Index" and believe the 2nd coming of Christ is dependant on Israel and...many, many more....but you probably knew what I meant, right?
Narkissos- Thank you very much for the suggestion. It sounds like a book I need to read and I'll have to find a copy.
justhuman- What? I don't think Brownboy's been around the thread. Nobody's fighting, just giving their opinions because I asked. Anyway, if anybody did start fighting...well, I can kill a thread even easier than I can start one :)

Hi again Peggy.
I'm with Franklin on pursuing an education. It's hard to figure out who you are after having been through the JWs and never living by yourself. College was amazing for me. It was hard but I did it and learned a lot about myself and what I'm capable of in the process.
I hope all the best for you.

Sexual Harassment
by LittleToe ini thought i'd pose a question especially (but not exclusively) for the girls regarding sexual harassment.
what would you deem as unfitting behaviour?.
is it appropriate for a guy to ask if you are wearing any panties?

Continued from 1st post-
"Does his silence on the subject give an open license to be abused?"
No, I don't think it gives an open license for abuse. I'm going to go ahead and write this even though I think some people will disagree with me and I might be seen as a provoker...I think there's a double standard when it comes to sexual harassment. When a woman is given comments on her panty line or whatever it's generally seen as harassment but if a guy is given comments from a woman I think it's usually seen in a more joking manner and not to be taken seriously because it's a woman saying it and women aren't seen to be physically threatening--even if this is completely wrong.
Just my opinion.
