1. respect felt: feelings of deep respect or devotion |
2. respect gained: the respect or devotion that others show somebody or something |
3. christianity used to address Christian clergy: used as a form of address for some members of the Christian clergy --------------- It's always been my take on the word that it was the thing that keeps people in line even in the face of their worst enemy. It keeps soldiers from mutilating the bodies of their foes. It keeps prison officials from finding executions fun. It makes people feel repulsion when injustices or crimes are commited against even the worst of humanity. I dislike many people...but I believe even the worst don't deserve to die horrible deaths or even be treated as sub-human. My question's are-- do you think most of us have lost the sense of reverence? Did anyone really have it? This isn't really a JW question... but it could come into play. I'm thinking as an American but this doesn't mean the questions only apply to Americans. Your thoughts? |
i couldn't help but smile at the news last night.
here in san diego, 3 guys are being chased by the police while driving their stolen car.
the fog gets quite thick, so the police stop the chase, but then realize that the car they were chasing pulled over.
Nice Nathan...from the story I guess you see that they were carjacked at gunpiont and raped and then made to beg for their lives but they were shown no mercy, murdered in front of their 15 children and then called profanities...
YES, I made all that all up. No reason why some kids should be dead and people should be thankful.

I never said I was glad...just said it was justice...YOU ASSUMED that I was glad.
JUSTICE usually makes people glad. And the thread is titled "fantastic end to police chase." That may not be yours, yours was "instant justice!" That sounds pretty enthusiastic.
Anyway, as I stated before I don't know how this is justice. How does stealing a car equate with death?

I hope I didn't come across as if I was glad of that outcome. I am saddened by that.
No, you didn't come across this way....it was meant for other posters.

those "kids" would be alive if they were in school or working an after school JOB.
BULLSHIT again. If you've never been there (that situation) then I don't expect for you to understand. Let me tell you that even going to school and working after school while your family is living below the poverty level isn't going to prevent you from desperate acts.
Again, why is death fitting? Why be happy about this?
You bring up them not looking where they jumped...a good smaritan in WA State trying to help someone on the side of the road nearly got run down by a crazy driver. He jumped over the railing on the road and fell 40 feet to his death. Should he have looked first? Was it his own fault?

AK- not the same. The story you tell is sad but it's not the same.
There's no way that some kids should dead and people on JWD should be glad about it because these kids stole a car.

personal responsibility....steal a car...risk innocent lives in a high speed chase...run from the police...jump over a guardrail without checking if its a bridge.....pay the consequences.
BULLSHIT. There may be some personal responsibility involved BUT WHY ARE YOU AND OTHERS glad some teenagers are dead? Also may I remind you they were kids?
Again show some compassion.

A fitting end to a crime.
BULLSHIT
and the moral to the story is ?........DON'T COMMIT CRIMES !
um, yeah, try not to commit crimes... however....when people get desperate what do you expect? And you know what?--I'll go ahead and state it-- ANYONE thinking this was justice can go to hell. Have some goddam compassion you jerks!!! Some incoveniance and car insurance problems means more than human life? You're happy some little boys are dead? You should be real happy with yourselves.
Give me a freakin' goddam break.
