  3. But not in the traditional sense. I believe we got here somehow, not completely by chance...whether or not the one who put us here is still interested, or observing I have no idea. I am to the point now where I'm just happy to *BE* After having every step dictated to you, the ability to engage in free thought is rather exhilerating!

  I just saw it today. I was hopeful there for a moment, until I read the whole article. It was ok, up til the end where it describes the JWs as doing the greatest charity work of all time...THE PREACHING WORK! Oh brother....I'm sure the needy of the world really appreciate that [8>] Then there's the bit that tells about the witness woman who spends time teaching the illiterate elderly to read using, of course...what else...a JW publication. The articles truly are, as messenger said, nothing but a propaganda piece.

  Are Elders who "step down" different?

  i have a query regarding elders.

  nothing derogatory, it is just something that i have been wondering about for years.. it has seemed to me for a while that the elders are a little like politicians.

  they can have all the good intentions in the world, but the systems will get to them anyway.

  And still they use that term "stepping down". Where from? Where to?
  It gives the impression that they have been in an elevated state. Perhaps it's all the time they spend on the platform!!! When they "step down" they can't climb up on to the platform again, eh?

  I think they should change it to "Gettin' out while the gettin's good"
