A couple of other thoughts to keep in mind...
The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society is a legal corporation whose function is the printing of religious literature. Period. It is not the Faithful and Discreet Slave of Matthew 24:45-47, nor has it ever been, despite the fact that members of the Faithful Slave held legal positions in the corporation for years.In short, Jehovah's Witnesses do not follow the Watchotwer Society. We receive our instructions via the Faithful Slave. The Fatifhul Slave uses the Watchtower Society to dispense the food, but that may change in the future.
Another thought to keep in mind: The denunciation of mankind's rulership of man, the prophetic description of the UN has not changed. Whatever is said to the contrary, I do not see any change, any new light, any watering down of the message that the UN is the 8th King of Revelation and that it is the disgusting thing standing where it ought not as mentioned in Daniel.

Huh?? So now the WTBTS are completely seperate from the governing body and either can do whatever they want without one affecting the other? Again the wizard of Oz comes to mind {PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE MAN (or in this case *men*) BEHIND THE CURTAIN!}
What truly bizarre reasoning, or lack thereof.
Oh yeah, that and the fact that a member of the above mentioned governing bodies signature was on the FREAKIN' application. sheesh

note: i originally posted this under the un/ngo thread, but decided to make a new thread.. while the board was down yesterday (sunday) i wandered over to h20's site to check out the discussions about this whole un/ngo-wtbts connection.
someone had alluded to the fact that perhaps apostates were actually the ones that forged lloyd barry's signature and filled out the paperwork to get the society signed up as an ngo.. here's the link:.

This is one of the first things my brother said as to why the GBs and writing dept's signatures were on the documents! [8>]

i am an inactive witness.
the problem i'm having is that i have a 1 year old daughter.
not that she's the problem, but jw's believe that only jw's will survive armageddon.
Yeah, had a pioneer sister try and lay a guilt trip similar to those mentioned above. While visiting me one day she said "so how old are your boys now?" I told her 5. She shook her head sadly, looked up at me and said "How sad, that for 5 years your boys haven't known Jehovah" needless to say I was just a tad annoyed!!!!!!!! How dare this woman presume to know what my children have or have not been taught! Just because I don't go to the kingdom hall, my children have no spirituality?? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

people leave the wts,willingly or unwillingly(df).. what was that 'final straw' that told you "that's it...enough is enough..'.

'boycott shampoo!
When an elder and some MSs came to our house to 'encourage' us (our son was very ill at the time) The elder, looking at me with his best 'stepford wife', reasoning book quoting, lack of real love' glazed eyes, said with a straight face...."That's ok, if anything happens to him, you will see him again in the resurrection" It was at that point that it struck me.....OMG! These people are brainwashed! I had never seen it before that point. It had never struck close enough to home for me to to realize that, for the most part they were all acting by rote...on auto-pilot if you will. Pre-rehearsed answers for pre-rehearsed situations. No spontaneity, no genuine fellow feeling. Now I know not everyone is like this, and that there are many genuine people among JW's. But for the most part especially among the over worked under trained elders and higher up this is unfortunately the case.

while checking out a questions from readers which was supposed to contain radically different viewpoints on voting in the 1999 index, i got an unpleasant surprise... it's not there!!!
in the summary of the watchtower, a questions from readers is mentioned, but the article itself is nowhere to be found!
i must note however, this was a french index... is it the same with the english ones?
{{{{dungbeetle}}}}
Thanks so much! I will look into those. Have the CD up to 1997 so I'll be able to get a few of those.
