  'The Core' was pretty painful as was 'The Day After Tomorrow' What was the deal with the velociraptor wolves???? I really wanted to like that movie too! And for any of the parents out there who had to suffer through 'Thomas And The Magic Railroad' I feel your pain! Peter Fonda acted like he was in a coma (or just wished he was, to escape this crappy movie).

  Fighter planes and strange clouds in sky right now

  i'm at home and for the past half hour at least three military fighters are up in the sky zooming around.

  maybe there's an air show or something but they go damn fast!

  they can go from being overhead to beyond the distance by the horizon in half a minute, if that.

  Reminds me of my chilldhood! We lived near Griffis Airforce base in Rome, NY growing up, and thought that everyone heard sonic booms on a regular basis. At the kingdom hall the speaker would have to pause every so often as a particularly low flying jet would go over.

  American Idol again

  anyone have any thoughts on american idol lately.. i was really dismayed when they voted jennifer off two weeks ago.

  it looks like she will still have a career though.. john stevens is just so nice but he needs voice lessons, as paula suggested for him.. who do you think will win?.

  at this point, i think it's between diana and latoya.

  Fantasia is my fave!!! She's a local girl too. Her family is only about 20 minutes from my house. Love her voice, it's very rich and different sounding! kinda has a Macy Gray thing going on there. I don't always like her performances (the Gloria Estefon night, case in point) But overall I love her. LOL about George blinking too much...

  ok, this may sound silly and trivial.

  but, i need to know if anyone else has had a similar experience.. as a result of facial hair (a goatee and mustache), i was relieved of my incredibly important.

  later, i felt like i should send the elders a thank you note for their wake up call to the fact that i was in a very messed up religion.

  Have You Ever Heard This Explanation Why 144,000 is a Literal Number?

  the speaker said tonight (yes i went to the memorial to appease my worried family .

  well he said its very simple....the scripture talks about the lamb and the 144,000. it doesn't say lambs as in more than one....no, it says lamb referring to the "literal number of one lamb".. so thats how we know that the 144,000 is a literal number and not symbolic like all the rest of revelation.. ok....now am i going bonkers...or has anyone else every heard that explanation before?

  Passing the time at JW Assemblies

  love_truth, in describing the utter dullness of jw assemblies and conventions, just gave me an interesting idea for a thread.

  what were some of the ways you tried to make the hours pass?

  some of mine: looking at the interesting refracting patterns the arena floodlights made on my eyeglasses when looking thru them at an angle.looking for people i knew from my congregation and others in the mass of people in the arena.counting the number of people leaving the section to go to the bathroompractice writing people's names in elvish scripthaving a conversation with friends a row behind me by passing notes back and forthseeing how many pages of my bible stick together when i slam a wad of gum in between its pages.. what else?

  Here is the Meeting Bingo:

  Do you keep falling asleep during meetings and assemblies? What about those
  long and boring home studies?
  Here's a way to change all of that.
  
  1. Before (or during) your next meeting, or assembly
  prepare your "Bullshit Bingo" card by drawing a square -- I find
  that
  5" x 5" is a good size -- and dividing it into columns -- five
  across
  and five down. That will give you 25 1-inch blocks.

  2. Write one of the following words/phrases in each block:
  a) the society
  b) the truth
  c) theocratic warfare
  d) 144,000
  e) cleaving to Jehovah
  f) return visit
  g) bad association
  h) scriptural stand on blood
  i) theocratic arrangement
  j) last days
  k) the world
  l) pagan holidays
  m) you can live forever
  n) pioneer hours
  o) judicial committee
  p) head covering
  q) Armageddon
  r) a loving provision

  u) we have no clergy class
  v) privileges in the congregation

  3. Check off the appropriate block when you hear one of those
