2 Elders Tell My Mom That She Should Take Me Off Her Health Care Assistance
by minimus inmy elderly mom had 2 visits from the elders.
she requested hospital liason help because she frequently has been having to go to the hospital, her blood count is low and doctors have told her that because she's a witness, there are certain procedures that make it difficult to attend to her without blood.
when the elders visited her , they recommended that because i "could" decide to give her blood, that i should not be the first person called with rights to give her life saving treatments.

The same thing happened to me a couple of months ago. My roommate has me on her directive (I'm not a JW..never was) and when one of the pioneer sisters at her KH found out I was not interested in studying or becoming a JW, she told my roommate that it would be good idea if she took me off her directive. My roommate told her no because she knows that I'm a person of my word and I'll carry out her wishes...not mine.
Another thing...I asked my roommate that if I ever let her make any medical decisions for me (I only have my Mother right now and one day I may be alone) and I needed blood, would she made sure I got it. She said that she would. Could she get in trouble being a baptized witness and allowing her non-JW roomate to receive a transfusion? I just don't want to get into a position where I could be ill and not able to make a decision for myself and all the people in her congregation would pressure her not to follow my wishes.

Autauga County Church Elder Pleads Guilty To Sex Abuse
Dec 5, 2006 10:34 PM CST
A church elder has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing his niece. Roberto Soto Colon admitted touching his niece, Teresa Rivera Ward, inappropriately more than 25 years ago causing her emotional pain and yesterday's plea almost assures prison time.
64-year-old Colon was an elder in the Prattville congregation of the Jehovah Witnesses at the time the abuse occurred. A one-year jail sentence is likely. Colon pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge in place of a jury trial, where he could have received more than eight years in state prison if found guilty.
Circuit Judge Sibley Reynolds accepted the plea and asked Colon to describe what he did to his niece. Colon barely spoke above a whisper as he described events more than 25 years ago. Reynolds dismissed the jurors after all parties agreed to the terms. He set sentencing for February 20, during which time, the district attorney will conduct a pre-sentencing investigation of Colon.

Transgender - A Case of Tested Friendship
by Amazing infriendship comes in all stages, shapes, and sizes, from the very close, as brothers, built over a lifetime, to the budding kind that has only a few months or a year or two.
i have been friends with sam (fictious name) for about seven years.
we are not real close friends, but have a good quality relationship that is mostly confined to the office.. recently, sam told me that he had an issue with a female agent who tried to get him fired.

I'm not a JW, but my roommate is and I am gay. My comment is that I just don't understand why someone in that situation would want to be part of a group that treats them as second class citizens.

update on JW roommate
by oppgirl63 inmy jw roommate has been a little under the weather lately (more than ususal).
she hasn't been to any meetings in at least 3 months.
anyway she was in the hospital for a couple of days about 3 weeks ago and after she got out i took her home so she could visit her family for a few days (she was gone about 10 days).

I know she blames herself. She made the statement not too long ago that Jehovah is dissapointed in her. It just seems to me that she wants to be a JW, but she doesn't want to do all the things they expect her to do. It's been this way ever since she got baptised. I feel sorry for her...she seems so chained down by this religion and all their man made rules. I thought that getting baptised would make her happy, but it hasn't. I know that one of the pioneers has talked to her about me. She wanted to know whether or not I was going to start studying and my roommate told her I wasn't the least bit interested. I think that the pioneer questioned why she was still living with me and my roommate told her that I made sure she got to her meetings (when she feels like going) so I wasn't hurting her spiritually.

Anyway she was in the hospital for a couple of days about 3 weeks ago and after she got out I took her home so she could visit her family for a few days (she was gone about 10 days). She's been back here for almost 2 weeks and still hasn't gone to any meetings. The CO was at her congregation last week and Friday they were trying to get in touch with her because he wanted to see her (but she didn't answer the phone). They even came out to our house and she didn't answer the door. My vehicle wasn't at home because my Mom and I went shopping (my roommate asked me to go shopping on my vehicle just so if they came by they would think no one was home). We have about 100 acres of land and when I got home I parked my truck on the back forty so no one would see it. They know she's back home because one of the pioneers saw us in town last week and turned her car around and chased us down. I wonder if there will be anything said to her about not being at the meetings when the CO was in town. They will probably blame it all on living with me.

I'm a 43yo lesbian who is a caregiver to a disabled JW. I have to take her to all her meetings because she can't drive. They let her get baptized while she has been living with me and I think it would be hypocritical of them to all of a sudden tell her she should move (they should have told her that before her baptism). But if you read my prior posts, you will probably come to the same conclusion that everyone else has and that is they don't want to have to take the responsiblity of her care on themselves, so they allow her to live with me.

I've had it done twice (my father died of colon cancer at age 52). You are right that Thursday will be the bad day. The test is not too bad. I had it done two years ago when I was 41 and they found a polyp (benign) so I had to have it done again this year. This time it was all clear and it will problably be 3 or 4 years before I have to have it done again. But with my family history, I'll never go more than 5 years without one. It's not too bad...you'll do fine.

My JW roommate and the false religion tract
by oppgirl63 inmy roommate who is disabled was in the hospital for a couple of days last week (nothing too serious).
one of the 'sisters' from the hall brought her a few of the tracts to hand out while she was in the hospital (like to nurses and whoever).
she hasn't been to the meetings for a while because she hasn't been feeling well so this was the first time she had seen them.

Parakeet....there's no way they can throw me out...it's MY home she's living in.
I was reading the other posts and I agree that they actually think people are going to take this seriously. Most people could care less.
One thing I thought was funny is one of the Sisters from my friends hall came by to see her while she was in the hospital and she said that she and her husband had just dropped everything for a month to do this tract work. They think this is so important.
