  A district overseer gave a talk a long time ago at a circuit assembly about "getting ahead in the world", and he said that "the world will use you, and abuse you, and then throw you away like a dirty rag." He didn't realize he was talking about his own religion.

  are there any practicing satanists on the board?

  i've been doing some reading about satanism and i'd like some personal experiences...it seems like it is less about god/satan and more about the self above all...am i right?

  how satisfying is this way of living?

  Definition of Satanism from The Random House Dictionary of the English Language: 1. the worship of Satan or the powers of evil. 2. a travesty of Christian rites in which Satan is worshipped. 3. diabolical or satanic disposition, behavior, or action.

  Hmmm....doesn't say anything about the "self". But then maybe the definition, coming from a forty-yr-old dictionary, is "old light".

  If a JW joined the army and was sent to a war zone, they would be disfellowshipped, or considered to have disassociated themselves, if their congregation found out.

  I guess if JW's invest their own bodies in a war effort, that's O.K. Either that or maybe their congos didn't find out they "served where the need was greater". Check out who's listed under 'Religions' in this Vietnam War casualty report.

  i am one of the fortunate ones whose father was an elder ...note was....but defied all odds and sent me to university.

  by the way i must just point out that i am in africa and i am an african.

  I found some books! What did you do with yours?

  i knew i had some so i was looking in some boxes and found a few including the super deluxe nwt bible with the cross references.

  on one hand i'm tempted to throw em all out, but on the other i feel like keeping them, maybe as some kind of demented memento.

  on the other other hand it'd mean one fewer box cluttering up a closet.. what did you all do with your old err.. literature?

  Highly unlikely. By the time it gets to a book dealer or on ebay it's already "old light".
