End of the World

i'm new here, i married a jw and i have just started attending the meetings, and it confuses me alot.. but back to my question, my grandmother once told me that jw's in the 50's proclaimed the end of the world and sold all their personal belongings and went up on a mountian and waited for god, has anyone else heard of this?

Well, I wonder... If Jesus were to come back and get me to Heaven, why should I go to the trouble of selling my belongings? I wouldn't need any money up there, and those left on Earth would not have any use for them...
So the witnesses are a little smarter... as Blondie said: there's still "some little time"... so little that it never ends

Are your pets eating blood?
by gumby ina few days ago there was a thread in which we were discussing the blood issue and jehovah's witnesses.
someone brought up pets and blood.
i was curious at that point if there was blood in our dogs food and were my wife to find out, i wondered how she would respond.. i did a little re-search on pet food and it's ingredience and here is a little what i found.. .........the protein used in pet food comes from a variety of sources.

True Christians would do well to ask themselves what God's viewpoint might be of their domestic animals engaging in sexual relations (coitus) without the benefit of the marriage arrangement. Might this stumble others in the Christian Congregation?

Banned from the Kingdom Hall?
by devinsmom inso i was just wonderin' if anyone has ever heard of someone getting banned from the kingdom hall.
my dad who was a very looked up to elder before my parents divorce and allways a very devout jw recently got banned from the kh, this is the 1st time hearing of someone getting banned, see this elder was talkin to his new wife a little too much and he thought they were gettin a little too close and he told this dude to back off and he didnt so this elder had a talk one night and my dad stood up in the middle of the hall right as this dude got on stage and announced that he better stay away from his wife, he was asked to leave and he refused so they called the cops on him and the cops came right in and escorted him out.
so anywho they wont let him come back, they didnt df him or reprove him or anything just banned his ass-way to go dad, probably the best thing that ever happened to him, too bad he allready wasted 2/3 of is life in that sh*t. so has anyone else ever heard of getting banned?-april

They called the police? Aren't witnesses supposed to take care of their business among themselves?
They're casting shame upon Jehoover's Name.Anyway, they must have noticed that your father was "too smart for his own good". I supposed that the REAL reason behind that is that he was making uncomfortable questions about the "faithful and discreet slave".

she has attempted to take her own life on one or more occasions.. i avoid controversies with her because she is seriously ill and is totally dependent on the organization's existence.
for emotional stability.
