Dontcha know? Armageddon has already come. But it was invisible, so only the faithful know about it!

NOW Is The Time..
by Englishman in..to plant giant vegetables!
i occasionally plant giant vegetable seeds just for fun.
as well as the looks of incredulity you get when you produce a 5 pound onion, a 3 foot carrot or runner beans several feet in length, they make good eating if you haven't fed them on chemical fertilisers.

The Global Flood
by coldfish ini've just read an intersting article on the flood to do with dates and whether is was truly global or a regional flood.. http://www.commentarypress.com/essay-flood.html.
my father used to be an elder for many years and the flood was one of the things that made him walk away not just from the jw but also belief in the bible.
he was hung up on issues like the flood taking place about 3500 bc and how that fit in with the pyramids.. i don't know much about egyptian history or the ages of the big pyramids, but his reasoning was if the flood wiped out every human on earth except noah etc then at 3500 bc there were only 8 people on earth.

Christian,
Some of the points in the page that I meant ARE about science. Others aren't. I just haven't had the time to sort it out, because I am at work right now... so I admit that I just went the easy way by giving a generic list rather than making up one myself.
Anyway, even if we don't agree, I praise your interest in defendind your points of view.

Read the bible to your girlfriend and avoid late night TV.

Yeah... but please spare the "dirty passages" of the bible. The song of Solomon is a no-no.

I don't know how to get rid of it... but it's really disorienting... I sometimes wake up thinking it's morning, only to find out I was sleeping in the afternoon.

Just my two cents, Christian:
Many people here have lost faith in the bible after deep research. Others have researched and believe the bible even more. To each, his own.
I believe most people here don't take it on a personal basis. They may disagree concerning ideas, but everyone is welcome and treated with respect.
I, for one, wish I could reconcile bible with science... but I can't. If I could, I'd gladly take the chance to do so. But wishful thinking will get me nowhere.
So, when people ask for reasons to believe in the bible, they may be doing so with a genuine heart. But it will take solid reasons to make them believe. Otherwise, nothing done.
As Carl Sagan once said: "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence".
So, don't be sad! This was a very good thread!
