I felt like I need to do so with my parents but then they seem more comfortable with our "don't ask, don't tell" system. My wife, who has no been out as long as I still wants to sit down and explain everything with her fam/friends.
Mostly I feel bad for my kids for the few years of normalcy they missed...but we got out early enough to salvage a few years. To them it is more a justification of why we didn't get out earlier.

and still associating with jws... have been baptised 23 years, that was at the tender age of 13 when i had absolutely no idea what i was doing.
i have always been considered a rebel...brought up in a family by a single parent, my two brothers are both elders, the younger being a regular pioneer, my sister a regular pioneer and serving in a foreign language congregation.
I remember being where you are. I was born into the org (my family is chock full of elders, pioneers, DOs, COs and even a pair of missionaries). I have gradually drifted away with my family (spouse andchildren) and we are always looking back in real amazement that we could have been so comitted to a belief system which crumbles at the touch of objective investigation. I never needed ollege or a good job since I was going to live forever and be perfect,,,just had to do a few years of service...to prove I was worthy.
It is a difficult journey, particularly with parents and family close by who are still in. I hope you will continue to investigate the claims of the WTBS objectively and compare intrepretation to what is actually written. The real truth will win out.
a few months ago we had a local needs part about supporting the cbs field service on saturday.
it was given by a nice older elder, but what he said was pretty scary.
he used all the phrases and logic that are usually used for meeting attendance.
One of the problems with not going to the meetings anymore is you are denied the pleasure of intentionally skipping field service.
i have been out of the jw's for many years now but i still have devout jw's family members.
and i am attending college now at 40 yrs old working on my ba degree.
i was so happy a few years ago when my jw mom told me that the wt is slacking off on telling jw's teenagers that college is bad and it is ok to attend college and universities.
Incredible! Of all thee nonsense I once believed this was the one thing that was ultimately the most damaging. I finally went to college when I was in my thirties, now I am on the verge on finishing a MBA; but my parents declined to attend my first graduation. I am constantly talking college to counteract the alternative messsages they get from the rest of my family (who are all deep inside). However, the leadership is correct, as I began to become a better critical thinker I began to entertain my doubts and research JW theology
a couple of years ago we where told by the co that some people were still using the green bibles.......shock horror!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and that we shouldnt as it was showing that we didnt appreciate the latest ones...black or maroon.

The person who said about "momma" saying the green bible was black was Bart Thmopson, a D.O. in the 70s and 80s. I heard him say it many times.
